McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Atlanta (CNN Center) Ratings and Reviews
My flight arrived late so I called to check if my 10:00 reservation was still okay and was told yes it was. Well, got to the restaurant and the doors were locked, knocked on the doors of the bar and was ignored. Finally a waiter came to the door, I explained my situation and was let into the restaurant. Seeing that they were closing up I asked if sitting at the bar would be quicker than the dining room and the waiter said yes. Well when I sat at the bar the bartender was not happy and quite loudly voice her discontent with my decision to sit at the bar. No way to greet your customers regardless if they are late.
I used to come here every-now-and-then when visiting Atlanta; however, after this trip I will not return. It took over 45 minutes to be seated, even with 715pm reservations--this operation was a disaster, especially at the main entrance where there was neither a system nor a clear leader in place. Recommend a systems engineer checks processes here considering this is your prime time to make money and impress what seems to be a more affluent clientele base.
Once we were seated, it took some time to be greeted and given the menu, and it was even longer to get water and then drinks. Though the food came out quickly, it was simply mediocre given its price. To be given the correct check in order to leave (remember, we had been in the same stuffy restaurant for about two hours now), we waited 15 minutes--mostly because the server was attending to, too many other tables.
Overall, we were far from impressed.
We ate here because it was close to the convention center , the weather was terrible and we could get a reservation. However, the meal left much to be desired. I had the supposedly award winning clam chowder and it tasted more like bacon than clam. I also had the twin lobster tails and the plate had a glob of mashed potatoes with lobster bisque spooned over it like a sauce. The tails were tiny and overcooked. No vegetable on the plate, except for 1/2 small tomato that wasn't really grilled or broiled - just warm. My husband did enjoy his blackened snapper and that dish was at least balanced with a vegetable.
I had their seafood trio. It came with properly cooked string beans BUT someone in the kitchen had a heavy hand with the pepper. Salmon was part of the seafood trio. Again, there was too much pepper. The menu said nothing about the seasoning of the salmon or the string beans. My mouth was on fire from all the pepper. I asked for and got some sour cream to kill the burn. My waitress was great. When I complained about the pepper, I was immediately offered new salmon and string beans without pepper. I was also given a free desert. If it wasn’t for the pepper, I would have given them 4 to 5 stars.
It was my first time visiting and it will not be my last. The food was great. The atmosphere was great. Service was great. The restaurant itself is located right in the middle of the action. You can eat and have fun at Phillips, Mercedes Benz stadium or just hang out.
Was really disappointed. They were out of the entree and dessert I wanted. Yet when I left I saw a fresh dessert come out that I had requested to another customer. The service was slow and sloppy. The music was way too loud and lighting level extremely low.
We booked a last minute reservation at this restaurant following the recent SEC Championship game at the Mercedes Benz stadium. The location is just around the corner from the stadium. The staff was very accommodating and appetizers were quickly delivered. They also offered a children's menu with many options.
We had lunch at McCormick & Schmick's on Saturday before attending a football game at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Our reservations were for 12:30 and we arrived a bit early but were promptly seated. The service was outstanding with our waiter being very attentive but not intrusive. We were with friends and both couples wanted to share a Wedge Salad. We were surprised that the salads were brought to the table whole and we had to divide them ourselves. Most restaurants perform that task before serving a shared salad. We each ordered different entrees and the general consensus was that the food was good but not outstanding.
Our experience was ok at best. Our server was great, had a good attitude, however the food was just ok. When we went in we told the hostess we had reservations, however she was busy going through menu's and told us to sit in the bar. After several people came in and were seated after us in excellent seats, we went up and asked out our reservations. The hostess told us she did not even remember talking to us. She then proceeded to send us to a table in the back area, very small, no view. Everyone else had tables with excellent views and were not placed at small table. There were several good tables available. The lunch menu's were not available at lunch time, although they showed on their website, so we ordered from the dinner menu at 11:30 in the morning, which was much higher. Our server told us it was because it was the SEC weekend, although their website said nothing about this. The only saving grace was our pleasant server. It was my hubby's birthday, however, they did not recognize it, even though I placed this on our online reservation with Open Table.
Great restaurant. Pricey and small portions. I had the steak and and twin lobster tails and I literally wanted to order another portion. I was still hungry. The steak medallions were very small in portion. The lobster tails were regular sized. Still good though
large guest receive COLD food and was rush because it was closing time. Why allow reservations if you not going to patronize your paying customers. The setting was nice but the food and service received was unacceptable. Remind me why we (customers) keeping you in business!
Always try to visit this restaurant when in town. Service is as good as you will find anywhere. Never lacked for anything. Wait staff are pleasant and accommodating any special request. Had the filet (rare) and seared tuna. Both were tasty and prepared exactly as requested. Never been disappointed here.
The food was fabulous! Steak is great as usual. Don't forget to order the cream spinach. Only. Ad was we told the guy we needed to be out of there by 5:30 because we were meeting Hawks Coach. So way 20 minutes between salads and entree. He brought out our meals at 5:26. Was quick to deliver the bill. Argh.....
Dining before concert at Philips arena. Food was great and server was friendly and efficient. Unfortunately, the restaurant had not planned bar or kitchen staff appropriately to handle the pre concert crowd. It was a very long wait to get drinks and food to the table.
We have eaten there most times we go to a concert at Phillips. They normally are busy, but handle things well and food is normally always good. On Tuesday night (before Lady Gaga)...it was normally busy. We ordered our food fast...waited for over an hour for our food. It arrived luke warm after we kept asking about it. Had to find a manager. It appeared many people were unhappy. The compted us some, but for the price of this restaurant, it was not equitable. And no real apologies. Clearly, there were lots of issues. Very hesitant to go again...
We arrived on time for our reservation and were asked to wait to be seated even though the restaurant was at best half full. When a manager finally walked by I asked why we had to wait for a table. He seated us immediately. Our server was exceptionally warm, friendly, and helpful.
The wedge salad and oysters were delicious. The sword fish was also very good. The turkey dinner was very disappointing as the turkey appeared to be left over bits of dark meat. I guess that knowing that this restaurant specializes in sea food, we should have dined elsewhere for our Thanksgiving day dinner.
My family(Party of 10) and I had Thanksgiving Dinner at McCormick & Schmick’s in the CNN Center, and the experience could not have been better. Destiny and Justin were very pleasant, friendly and professional. Also, Destiny surprised me by allowing my family and I to utilize the Special Event Room, it was terrific. P.S. Everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving meal.... Destiny and Justin, thank you for making our 2017 Thanksgiving Dinner very special!
