McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Atlanta (CNN Center) Ratings and Reviews
This is my first experience at a McCormick & Schmick's location, but not my first time to a Landry's restaurant property. Having eaten at multiple different Morton's over the years, I wanted to try this option since I enjoy seafood entrees. I opted for a seafood appetizer (grilled octopus), which was perfectly prepared. For my entree, I chose the bone-in ribeye. The steak had great flavor, but I was surprised the amount of gristle that I experienced. I was actually more impressed with the sides that my dining companion and I ordered to supplement our meals. The mashed potatoes were some of the best I have had in recent memory along with the roasted mushrooms and creamed spinach. For dessert, we split a slice of chocolate silk pie. While very rich and decadent, I felt like I was eating a flourless chocolate cake. The dessert is very dense unlike any silk pie I have ever had.
The menu was poor as far as food selections, but the wine and alcohol was much more extensive. Great place if you’re looking for drink more than eat. We arrived a few minutes before our scheduled reservation of 7:15 only to have to wait while the hostess proceeded to seat a couple who had a 6:00 reservation and decided to show up at 7:15. We did not get seated unitl 7:30 because of this. The drinks are heavily overpriced and the food was average (we both decided on the Blackend Chicken fettuccine ). The restaurant is very dimly lit, making it difficult to see. Overall the restaurant was ok, but nothing worth the 2.5 hour drive we took tk get there. We could’ve gotten the same style food for much less with a 30 minute drive away from home .
The hostess was indifferent and uncommunicative. Left the people with appointments standing like cattle in the too small vestbule. No attempt for friendliness. Waitperson was AJ, the only bright spot in the evening. Calimari good but greasy. Blackened Snapper was just OK. Sides poor. Mashed potatoes cool. Spinach undercooked and stringy. A far cry from the M&S we knew at Perimeter. Prices 20% higher than Buckhead Fish Market and quality unsat. We shall not return.
The oysters Rockefeller and wedge salad for appetizers was great. The steak entree my boyfriend got was amazing. However, the bourbon salmon was just alright. Our server was fantastic and very knowledgeable as well as a friendly face. I would go back for steak but not salmon.
We arrived late because of a transportation snag but the restaurant was still very busy. Hostess assured us they could still take us. We were finally seated and server was slow getting water to us. From there it went downhill. As other diners finished and left, the music was obviously much too loud. I asked the server to try to turn down the music but nothing happened. It was uncomfortably loud. I was halfway through my steak when the server asked if we would be having any dessert! Overall, a terrible experience. We went there because we had been a few days earlier on a week night and had a great meal and it was convenient to our hotel. They really need to decide if they want diners after 9pm. If not, please just turn us away next time. It would have been better for all.
Made reservation several weeks ago. Was taken to lousy table near a bussing station, restaurant was more than half empty. Requested to move and was accommodated. Food was good but not great. Music was loud, temperature was uncomfortably warm. Ladies room could use some love; Broken door lock and missing purse hook. Overall, unimpressed for the price. Good service and pleasant staff, but “meh”. Very cookie cutter, no passion, I doubt I will return. “Ray’s in the City” is a far, far better choice for seafood in downtown ATL.
Initially busy, but service was terribly slow. Server was very nice and apologetic, but what should have been a 45-60 minute meal turned into almost a 2 hour event. One party became ill later in the evening- we suspect the oysters. Expected more from this restaurant based on eating at others in other towns. Disappointing.
I am so sad to say we had a terrible experience at McCormick & Schmick this time. We love going to M&S any time we are traveling and we were incredibly disappointed with our service. We had reservations for 6:15 and it wasn’t too crowded, we got seated right away. Our waiter did not even come to our table until 6:30 and we continued to not even have a glass of water until 6:45, not to mention our cocktails slowly followed. We watched our same waiter shaking hands and chatting with all of the other tables around us that were getting what appeared to be great service, yet we definitely did not. Our food was good, as usual, but we left feeling overwhelmed with the lack of service for a $150 meal. Unfortunate and probably won’t be going back.
We had a 7:45 reservation and didn't get seated until 8:10. There were plenty of open tables in the restaurant that we saw when we were finally seated. Our server took forever to bring us our drinks. We didn't order appetizers or salads and ordered around 8:25 and weren't served until 9:45. Our server was no where to be seen. No apologies. I would not go back to this location!!!!
We made a reservation for 7.00 pm and finally got to our table at 7.25 pm
Had to return one menue because of the quality of the food. My business partner did not want to re-order.
We sat in the middle of the room and a conversation was hardly possible.
Two of my other business partners got sick that night.
Waiter service was excellent- the rest sucked.
Appetizer was cold. Then the meal came and the steak was like warm. We had to say something then. They offered a free dessert. We weren’t interested. That was it. Maybe a cappuccino or take off a wine would have been nice. But at these prices I don’t think it is expecting too much to have hot food
We had a PHENOMENAL experience last night. The restaurant was extremely crowded with the National Championship fans and yet they went above and beyond to make it a wonderful experience. Our reservations were at 5:00 and we were led to our table at 5:00! It was in a little “room” which made it so fun and so special. Turns out my dad joined us at the last minute and our incredible waiter found us an extra chair to accommodate him. Our food was delicious - I had the crab cakes and lobster bisque. Perfection. It arrived quickly and our waiter brought the bill early to be sure we could scoot out to the game. He was so attentive and so kind and so friendly. I can’t remember his name but he went above and beyond! I am sure they have never been more crowded or more crazy and yet, all went so smoothly. We are so grateful. We have a new spot to enjoy before games. Thank you.
Restaurant was over booked beyond any ability to handle the numbers, and groups of 2 or 4 with reservations were being bumped for larger groups of 5 or more. Any one with or without reservations came in to the restaurant & bar leaving no room to stand. Getting a drink while you were waiting was almost impossible. We arrived an hour early for our reservation, and since I was unable to change the time we waited an hour to get to our reservation time, and another 45 minutes to get a table. had used this location before, but I will never use it again.
Overall very pleased!! Saturday was a busy day with the College Football National Championship (Roll Tide!!). Everything was as expected and appreciated. The staff is very courteous and will go out of their way to ensure good service and food. The lady at the desk was extremely nice, helpful and patient with the customers. There were a few customers that were not very nice with her and could have been very stressful but she went out of her way to make sure everyone was waited on. This location is always one of my favorites for game day!! Very happy with this restaurant and wished I knew the name of the receptionist who was so kind.
Had lunch before the College Football Playoff National Championship game. Restaurant only sat parties with a reservation, which made the dining room much nicer and quieter, unlike the madness at all neighboring restaurants that day. Service and food were great. Good and ample wines by the glass and draft beers. I will dine here again before the next big game I attend in the area!
We were there for lunch on the day of the College Football National Championship game. We were thrilled to be able to make reservations and were seated right on time! It was loud, but there were alot of people!!! Our waiter was excellent and the food very good, though somewhat pricey for Lunch. We would love to return on a quieter evening , for a special occasion.
We had a terrible experience. We went for lunch with my 5 & 8 year old daughter @ 1 on Sunday. After being seated and given the menu we saw they were serving only the dinner menu because "of the expected crowds" which to us seemed ridiculous as we were the only ones in the restaurant. My daughter ordered the fish tacos from the kids menu and they were not edible. There was no fish, only batter. It was awful. Didn't even have the salsa on it as stated on the menu. My Caesar salad was wilted and tasteless. Waiter could careless. Definitely disappointed. Do not recommend.
Two of our dishes were sent back to the kitchen. Calamari had obviously been fried in old oil, the server returned and said the “chef” had explained they were too busy to change the oil. If that was the case then why send anything to the table when you know that? The taste of that burnt oil did not go away for the rest of the evening. A grilled cheese sandwich was so foul smelling that both the server and manager turned their nose and almost gagged when smelling it. Service can be hit or miss, but a failure of this significance is inexcusable.
We had dinner here on NYE and the service was a bit slow and the appetizers were not as good but the entrees were great. We ended up sending the clam chowder soup back because it was watered down. We opted then for calamari which was better than the soup. Our waiter was nice but the service was slow and it wasn't crowded yet. Overall, we had a good time.
