McCormick and Schmick's Harborside Ratings and Reviews
not a great experience. sand in my mussels. poor service. mediocre entree; horseradish crusted fish; no crust and little horseradish. nice dessert, service was poor. asked for bread; came at the end of the meal. never asked about beverages. only re-filled water after dessert.
Very nice afternoon. Happened to be quiet in there at the time which made it better. Traffic picked up a bit but it didn't matter. No complaints. The salmon dish that I ordered was a bit salty and loaded with mushrooms which detracted a bit, but not a deal-breaker. Been there before and will go again.
I have many business lunches at McCormick and Schmick's because its nearby, but the service was really disappointing this time. The server was slow to take our order and when he did he left the menus on the table...odd. It took quite a while for us to get our iced teas and once we were done it took a while to get the check. The food is fine...not exactly the best seafood in Seattle, but I've never had a bad meal...just average. I don't want to be rushed during a business lunch, but having an attentive waiter is appreciated. Unfortunately, the service has been lacking on a number of occasions.
Very disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. A bowl of chowder was ordered and a cup of chowder was delivered. The waitress said we could keep the cup of chowder and she would reorder the bowl of chowder. It never came until we flagged down the waiter 45 min. later. Toast for the Bouillabaisse was burned. Salmon was overcooked with bits of charring on the fish. The beef medallions were overly salty. A side order of French fries never came until it was reordered the same time as the bowl of chowder- 45 min. later. The waiter never came back to see if everything was alright soon after the food was delivered. If he had, he could have corrected the issues with our order. We never saw him or any other server to let them know about the missing orders and burned food. When he finally showed up, we told him about the burned toast and he said he would bring new toast, he never did. He never asked to refill my ice tea. When he delivered the check, we mentioned the burned toast again and he said the kitchen was having problems with a hot stove! There was no apology for the missing orders or burnt food. Very poor service. Will not recommend McCormick and Schmick's Harborside restaurant.
McCormicks & Schmicks have earned their place among the better Seafood houses around. This location has a great view of Lake Union from just about any seating with the busy Seaplanes and sailboats which is a great distraction from the dated decor inside. The service is personal enough without invading one's privacy and the meal and spacious placements of the tables give plenty of feeling of being a special guest. We very much enjoyed our experience and our entrees.
The best part of this place is this view -- which is amazing. The food was sub-par. Six diners -- one good entree. Don't order cioppino --instead of rich broth you basically get tomato water and over cooked seafood. King crab legs --overcoooked. Shrimp -- overcoooked. The whole meal left us asking where could we actually go for dinner. The answer -- Purple Wine Bar which did not disappoint.
Once again, a great event, excellent food, my out-ot-town guest enjoyed not only the food, beer selection, and attentive service but also the many activities outside our window on Lake Union. I believe Seattlites take Lake Union for granted and it takes a visitor to truly appreciate the uniqueness of our public working lake. Our fish entrees were, as always, perfectly prepared, we enjoyed the wine and beer list offerings. I sincerely hope Harborside will be here for many years to come as I always enjoy coming here.
View was great, we looked right out onto the water. The first thing we noticed was how old the green carpet was, and how tired it looked. If it was my house, I would be embarrassed. The waitress was very nice, and prompt, very good service. The food was poor, I had filet mignon there wasn't much flavor at all. My wife had crab, it was served split open and was very dried out. My wife got wild mixed green salad, it was wilting and drenched in dressing. The beechers mashed potatoes were very good. A let down for a Seattle landmark restaurant.
Beautiful dining room! The menu had been personalized for our special occasion. Nice touch Despite our waiter's genuine courtesy, he seemed unable to hear or appropriately respond to any special requests. Water with no ice please, was met with , "No problem!" and yet the water came with ice. When it was requested again, a glass of water with no ice came, but the glass with ice stayed on the table until we asked for it to be taken away. My friend has food sensitivities, one of which is bell peppers, so she asked about the vegetables, was told they would be zucchini & potato, but they were actually bell peppers. And so on...
McCormick & Schmick's Harborside Restaurant is our "go-to" restaurant for my birthday & other special occasions. I love the free birthday reward entree & the lovely water views & plenty of parking! We have taken many out of town guests here & have never been disappointed. The seafood is fresh & the chef is creative! Only thing to correct is the check-in on Facebook doesn't come out as the Harborside location but the downtown one!
A beautiful August Sunday afternoon spent gazing at the wonderful variety of boat and seaplane activity on Lake Union was made more perfect by our excellent wait person, Zelda, as well as another staff member whose name I did not get, who treated us as honored guests. I had the cedar-planked halibut, which could not have been better, juicy, succulent, and my companion had the Alaskan cod fish & chips, despite my encouragement to try one of the non-fried entrees. Even so, his was a generous plate and he enjoyed it, so that was all that I cared about. The gentle ambience was perfect for us & I indulged in two glasses of Meiomi Pinot Noir, a special treat for me.
I plan to return in a few weeks to bring an out-of-town guest who will especially appreciate the Lake Union location as much as the menu and professional service. Kudos!
I asked for a substitute for fries and was told I could get a side salad. When the bill came a $4.00 charge was added. We were not told of this and it was removed. I asked for my dressing to be on the side. The salad came with the dressing already mixed in and also the dressing was on the side. The salad had too much dressing mixed in it. A substitute charge should not be this much. Also, the website showed the Parmesan Crusted Trout was one price, on the menu at the restaurant it was $1.00 more and when the bill came it was another $1.00 more for the almonds which were not explained at the time of ordering.
Consistent and one of better choices near work. Not inexpensive but fair considering the food compared to other places. I was sad to see the Lobster Cobb was no longer on the menu but the Classice Louie with crab and shrimp was very good. Fresh seafood and good dressing. The appetizer of Shrimp Kisses, prawns wrapped in Hempler's bacon with pepper cheese, corn relish and onion strings was very, very tasty. The price was in the lower end of the range of Louie's I have eaten in Seattle.
Super accommodating servers and waiters. Great view of SLU and the fireworks during the 4th. Two out the three dishes served were great. My New York strip, however, while cooked medium as requested, tasted burnt and charred on the outside. Other than that, no complaints!
I've always thought of McCormick & Schmick's as a higher end restaurant but I was very disappointed with my meal at the Harborside location. It was marginal and not worth the price. I also received a drink that was garnished with a cucumber that had a human hair on it. They were nice enough to eventually bring me a new one, but did not offer to comp it, which I thought would have been reasonable. I think I would still recommend McCormick & Schmick's if it was the right occasion, but definitely not that location.
We went for a special event. The location and view are spectacular. The staff was friendly, yet a bit slow. The chief seems to have two favorite flavoring agents - Butter and Salt. There was very little other flavor. We spent a fair amount of money and did not get the quality of food I would expect.
I would not return.
We took our of town guests to what we remember as a very reliable seafood restaurant. First, noticed that what used to be an attractive, comfortable upscale restaurant had no table cloths and cheap place mats. For the price of food you would expect excellent service, food and ambience. My Dover sole was heavily fried with more coating than fish. Chowder had no cream. It was chalky as though it was thickened with corn starch or flour. I am not going into our guests fish which looked disapointing. The food came out of the kitchen very fast. One would suspect that it had been preprepared. When our meal was finished we had to have a waiter corral our waiter. He was busy visiting with someone at the the bar and forgot to bring our bill which he quickly retrieved. Need I go on.
This location couldn't be better. You expect the food to be good, and that is the case. If you can sit by a window facing the harbor, there is no lack of activity and cool things to see. We were there on a lazy Sunday afternoon for the restaurant, and Lake Union was buzzing with activity...mighty fine!
