McCormick & Schmick's Harborside - Portland Ratings and Reviews
Food was good, portion size was disappointing. The service was horrible for the price we paid. Our waitress was slow getting to us, took one drink order at a time, took about 20minutes to come back for us to order food and only checked on us one time. On my nieces entree soup or salad was offered without letting her know there was an upcharge and it was not included in the meal. Then at the end the waitress was unorganized with splitting the bill even though guests were in the same spot. I am a waitress myself and I know what it is like to be busy but that's when you should ask for help. Not sure if she was busy or not I don't know her section all I know is for the price I payed I expected a way better dining experiance than I recieved especially when I booked this place for my mom's 60th Birthday. I work at Olive Garden and I got to say we give a lot better service.... I wont be recomending this place and I most likely will not be back.
We arrived at 5:50 for a 6pm reservation and were told by the less than welcoming host that we would have to wait until our reservation time to be seated, despite plenty of open tables. Thankfully another staff member (maybe a manager?) walked by and saw us standing and seated us immediately.
Our server was wonderful and knowledgeable. The food was just ok, nothing special and rather overpriced. I don’t understand why they have hardly any local seafood. I wouldn’t go back again.
My mother ordered a vodka collins and got a Tom Collins had to send that back. I ordered a martini it came in a chipped glass. My water glass had a chip in it. I ordered the blackened mahi mahi it was overly salted. Nicole our server was awesome. I was a little surprised that between the two chip glasses drink made wrong and food that was so so that the general manager didn't come by.
We requested a table away from the noise and was given one at the back wall - greatly appreciated. The service was good but slow returning with drinks (Sunday mimosas & Bloody Mary specials). I think they were a little understaffed that day. The server was friendly and professional and the food was delicious. Overall, we would recommend and return again.
Chef Matthew is amazing. Having showed up without prior disclosure of my extensive allergy list he created an amazing appetizer and dinner that was full of flavor and beyond words. Thank you chef Mathew. Cathy our server was great and had immediately talked to Matthew on our arrival and indications of allergies. Thank you both for a wonderful night out. ( Photo is of appetizer. )
It was my birthday, and as such wanted to go to a special place near the waterfront. I felt the food, or maybe what I ordered was mediocre. I had the Lobster Cobb and some appetizers. The waiter was not helpful when I asked about the salad. I would never order it again. My friend did not finish her meal either. When we were finished the waiter never asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu or coffee. And we left (too much tip) without even a happy birthday. I was disappointed . I Will not return or recommend.
I am a fan of Instagram/FB and did not put my meal on social media. Remember service is 90% experience.
We got a river-front view and exceptional service. Our waitress helped to identify gluten free options (always a bit easier with seafood), and made suggestions for the table. She was attentive and very sweet! So glad we made the reservation for my birthday!! The crap and shrimp and brie stuffed salmon is to die for.
This restaurant was a waste of money. The service was alright, the server was very kind and knowledgeable, but other than that the entire experience felt sloppy. For the first time in my life I sent food back to the kitchen. I ordered the lobster bisque and the Dungeness crab/shrimp cakes. The bisque was pretty good, just too salty. The crab cakes, however, were a wreck. One side was burnt (this was the underside, to hide that it was burnt) and the top side was barely a light golden color, like it had hardly sat on the flat top. They tasted like used oil, as if the oil hadn't been replaced or gotten hot enough prior to being used. The consistency of the inside of the cakes was like wet tuna salad, and very stringy. The cakes came with fries that likely came frozen from a bag. I asked the server to take it back and remove it from the bill (I'd only eaten two bites). She went to tell the chef and we heard him (he came out of the kitchen to speak with her) saying loudly "oh, isn't this the same chick that was complaining earlier too?!" (No, I wasn't.) We tell the server we were able to hear the chef and that he was offensive, so she gets the manager for us, who was nice but a bit fake. They bring us complimentary apology creme brûlée, which was also a disaster. It was wet on top of the sugar, like it had been sitting in a fridge for a few days. When we cracked the sugar, the custard was like runny pudding. All in all, this place is just not worth the money at all.
Disappointed in food, ordered a mixed sea food platter for $40, and all sea food was way over Cooked! Disappointed in seating, we were seated right next to the only other table there that was occupied. What is that about? That table was so close to ours we had to squeeze past the occupants carefully watching our knees and elbows to just to sit down.
