Thank you staff for making our reservations and event so memorable. It was a Tuesday evening, so the restaurant was not too busy. Staff was wonderful and the service was great. The ultimate grill meal was good. The crab cake was excellent; and the shrimp and salmon were okay too. Will definitely return and just order a dinner of crab cakes. The stuffed salmon was good. It is difficult to be served 'atlantic salmon' when we live in the Northwest and yet still pay premium prices. All and all would recommend this restaurant if your have an income that can afford the luxury of the prices here. Definitely recommend for special occasions.
I booked a 7pm reservation for a table of ten. Our table was not ready until 7:30. It then took almost an hour to get our food. Even people who arrived after us received their food before us. This would normally be annoying, but maybe not terribly frustrating, except I had my one year old son with me and anticipated on being out the door and headed for home by 8:30 or so. Instead, due to the table being ready late and the food taking an hour, we didn't leave until almost 9:30pm. Food was the typical McCormick and Schmick fair, but I was really bummed that the service was so lackluster. Probably won't ever come again if I am on a timeline.
Service was slow. Made a reservation and still had to wait. Good was just ok.
The biggest problem was service. I had made a reservation in advance for birthday celebration and we got a nice table with a VIP card on it. Unfortunately we were treated no where near VIP. The service was horrible and our waiter blamed it on the theatres matinee being let out and they got slammed. Well, in my opinion we still should have been VIP service wise. After all we made “RESERVATIONS” ahead of time! We were virtually mostly ignored and only got attention when we had to get up and flag someone down to help us. Then the food.....certainly not worth the hassle and waste of 2 hours we had to spend there.
Our evening dinner would be considered mixed, most of the food was excellent, but some was mediocre. The overall experience was not what we have come to expect from what used to be a first class restaurant. The whole place seems to need some kind of facelift.
Kathy was a wonderful waitperson, and fun to talk to. thanks
Horrible service and freezer burnt king crab
Always great food, service and venue. We will continue going as we have time.
Food was just OK. Service was spotty. We had to request our waiter twice. I thought it would be better. My experience with other McCormick locations has been better.
Had a wonderful time great place to have dinner. I had the steak cooked the way I like it . My husband and I love the view we sat at the window seating just had a great time over all.
They went out of their way to make our celebration for my in-law's 50th wedding anniversary very special. the only thing that could have been better would have been that the walk way was a bit wider to accommodate seating and walkers/strollers so were not continually having to scoot in to accommodate. otherwise it was amazing.
It really nice. The food was fantastic. The waitress was very nice and fast. We didn’t have to wait very long at all for our dinner. All in all, it’s a 5 star to me.
The Salmon was amazing! My wife and I shared an app and entrée for Valentines Day and felt it was a good value and quite tasty. Limited GF options, but we were able to find our way through the menu option with help from the waitress
My girlfriend and I had our first Valentine’s Day together and I wanted to go somewhere special. I got a reservation at M&S and we were seated early. The staff were friendly, and our waiter Austin was fantastic. I’m clueless when it comes to which drink should go with what and his suggestion helped. We’d definitely like to go there again.
Good food, service was lacking. Busy night, had to be seated upstairs.
We loved our dinner! The whole experience was great: the atmosphere inside with all tables being "waterfront", dim lighting and outside with the gorgeous waterview, wonderful service, and we LOVED every bite we were served!
Nice meal, value-priced for Portland. Great service!
Awesome experience as always. Great service, great fresh food. Always a consistently great dinner alone or with friends.
Only complaint would be that a table for two should not be stuck at the back of the restaurant surrounded by large loud parties. Not very personal.
The cocktails were pretty good but the salmon I ordered was a little over cooked again. Service was good as usual.
I've been here many times and it's hit and miss. The last visit I was seated at a table next to an unchaperoned table of teenage boys. So the 'ambience' was somewhere between juvenile and cringeworthy. The food this time was mediocre. I ordered a filet that was grisly and chewy. Overall......pretty disappointing.
My favorite place! A fabulous view from every table!
Salmon stuffed with crab and shrimp was undercooked...salmon was raw. Sent it back, was still raw. Gave up and brought leftovers home to cook through.
Our dinner was lovely. The food was creative & first class. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the offerings & gave us some great suggestions.
Our family has enjoy McCormick's for years. Our latest dining experience was just average. My seafood dinner was cold, the crust coating on my fish seemed raw under the browned crust; our server was highly emotive and turned any conversation point onto his own life, his own birthday etc. which lessened the birthday we were there to celebrate. With the many options in Portland, this may be our last visit to this lovely venue.
The service was terrible and the food was bland. I was under the impression it would be a fine dining experience and it felt like an IHOP one. With so many excellent restaurants in Portland, I won’t choose this one again.
My best friend and I went here to celebrate my new job and moving to a new state. We were both very excited. The reviews were all so great and the menu looked delicious! We made an reservation for 7pm and arrived on time, the table wasn’t ready for another 10 minutes after we got there. We sat down and it took our waitress almost 15 minutes to come over to pour us water and ask what we would like to drink. By that time we had already figured out what we wanted for our meal and went ahead and ordered salads and steak. Drinks arrived a few minutes before our salads did (which were amazing , I suggest the one with the walnuts and blue cheese crumbles). We finished our salads, and first round of drinks. Our dinner arrived a short time later.
Steak was cooked great, but wasn’t very flavorful. It took our waitress an additional 20 minutes after we had our food to stop by to check to see how our meal was and if we wanted another drink. By this time we had finished our dinner. I understand when it gets busy but she had walked by our table a hand full of times from when we got our food to when she decided to stop.
Overall, I would rate our experience a 4/10. We probably won’t be going here again. I was disappointed at the service.
Our waiter was super! The food was okay, but not awesome. Nice view of the river...
Our experience wasn't great. I've left a review for McCormick and Shmick's separately.
The scallops were wonderfully done, as well as the Ahi tuna, this place never disappoints.
Unbelievably good food and service. This is probably the best restaurant in Portland. The prices are very reasonable. The wine selection is better than most restaurants, and I am a winemaker. The Ahi tuna is superb.
My favorite McCormicks seems to have better chefs, the view is great and the wait staff attentive.
Great service, great place to go. I ordered the cedar plank salmon, it was a little over cooked, but ok on that front. The meal actually had very little spice and required salt and pepper for flavor. Kids ordered fish and chips and those were really good. Ordered Calamari app and did not read the fine print and my kid ate a tempura jalapeño. It was a surprise. Overall a good experience.
Quite full and alittle loud, but that's to be expected. Overall good food and service.
Ok, so we love the harbor side and have been to M&S many times. Had two shrimp dishes in the bar. Neither looked appealing-no artistic presentation at all. Popcorn shrimp was fine. The large chilled shrimp, meh! I ended up spitting out several bites that were actually gooey! I’m always excited to try a new drink & unless I get a straight up drink or a beer, I’m always disappointed. The drinks were so watered down they gave new meaning to “we’ll drink”! I’ll stick to beers here but most likely will return sometime.
I have had dinner at this restaurant for many years around this time of the year. We take important customers for dinner, so the meals are important. The food was very good, as normal. Not only the presentation, but the taste. There is a nice river view if that is important to you. I have eaten at several McCormack & Schmidts, and I know I can depend on a high quality meal.
Great place for a great conversation
Food seemed to be a little slow coming out between courses. Wait staff was good. Food was very nice. Shrimp on one of main courses was over cooked. Complementary desserts for twin daughters was nice. Good wine special was nice!
We really enjoyed our meal. I had the grilled seafood plate with mashed potatoes. The potatoes came with a lobster sauce that was delicious. Our server, Austen, was professional, attentive, and knowledgeable.
