One person had clam chowder which was quite flavorful but cool - not hot. We had two crabs which were quite large and plenty for three people but watery - perhaps they had prepared too many for a rush on Christmas eve?? Nice raised booth so we were able to see over the people at the window tables ..... lovely lighting for nice ambiance ......
Ok it was Christmas Eve... But the place was hopping.. LOTS of people... the service was not perfect but eager to please and trying.. Sadly, we were probably the LAST table at the end of the restaurant, so I think our server had to run at least 50 yards to the bar to get us drinks... Wait staff was good overall, the food was good as well.better than I would haveexpected..
My wife and I ate there on Christmas Eve. It was a little (or a lot) slow for everything from getting seated to getting served. The food was okay but nothing to brag about. Probably won't go back.,
Appetizer - crab cake excellent while escargot was bland and too much butter
Seafood orders were great but not the meat. Ordered filet mignon - medium well - it was more pink for medium well but the outside was charred.
Wine selection was not that great but the price was good.
Service was slow
Coffee was lukewarm
Service was SO SLOW! I think it was more of the kitchen staff than the waitress. Food was not good at all! Beautiful views of the bay but won't be going back.
Wine prices are high and not the best selection. Food was good to very good and the portions huge - really too big as we left so much it felt like a waste. It was our anniversary and the waiter gave us a couple of extras. One was an eggplant appetizer that I would not have ordered on my own as I don't especially like eggplant, but it was one of the best dishes of the entire meal. The view, of course, is the star attraction.
Beware if trying to eat here for a nice romantic dinner or special occasion...I was surprised to see how many kids were at this restaurant. The ambiance was very nice and seemed too fancy to be a family style restaurant. I think this particular restaurant is in too much of a tourist area that is going to attract families. I would eat at another one of this company's restaurants in a different area.
We have gone here for many years. The food has gone downhill.
It was not crowded that evening and they made a mess of assigning an attendant to our table.
We sat for 15 minutes before we could anyone to help us.
However, once this was overcome the service was excellent.
The ambiance was excellent; the views wonderful; the food delectable; only negative point was the service- slow for our waiter to return after the initial visit; slow to bring the food; brought the wrong salad out and this mistake had to be pointed to him.
The spendid view gives this restaurant a head start. We were given an amazing amuse buch (sp?) and enjoyed our carefully prepared meals. I'll be going back.
Best ever! Never been disapointed! Put our anniversery on the personalized menu and gave us free appetizers and dessert! YUM!!! :D
Our reservation was for a weekday company lunch at 12:30 but it took more than an hour to get our food. Everything from getting refills to waiting for the check was a tedious wait but our waiter was wonderful and made up for all the wait.
McCormick & Kuleto's is lovely restaurant and the perfect place to celebrate my daughter's birthday with my grandson and other family members. Gorgeous views of the San Francisco Bay. Spectacular!
Lots of tourists since it's in Ghirardelli Square, but the view is great, the food is awesome and the service is passable.
I stumbled across this location while at a business conference in the area. The food and service was excellent. Great views too. My husband and I enjoy coming back here to dine with family and friends in the area (Pacifica, San Leandro and San Francisco. We are from Sacramento). Will certainly be back.
This is usually an annual dinner out for our family, but we are going to change locations next year. First of all we had a to wait for our reservation. Even though I had made the reservation weeks in advance our table looked like it was thrown together complete with folded chairs. When asked about the chairs and location of the table, we were completely blown off. Our waiter said he was experienced but decanted the wine by inverting the wine vertically into the decanter. The food was passable but not justifying the $350 price tag. Needless to say we will choose elsewhere for our holiday dinner. I really blame the management in the this situation. It seemed like they were under-staffed and overwhelmed.
The eggplant Turine was delicious, the calamari and sweet potatoe fries were soggy. The sole and sturgeon was very good.
Exceptional view of the bay as the restaurant is situated on a hill above the street level one block from waterfront and overlooks a park area. Three out of our party of eight order the Petrale Sole which was outstanding, although everyone enjoyed their meals.
Great fish and seafood selection. The macadamia nut crusted mahi-mahi was excellent...the mango salsa and fried plantains complimented the fish without overwhelming. The chocolate torte was absolutely sinful!
Nicely decorated for the holidays...very festive!
Each time I dine at McCormick's it's a joy!
A little disappointed! Been going there for years. Requested a window seat when I made the reservation. We got there early and the hostess said at least a 15 minute wait. I left the rest of my party to pick up some chocolates at Ghiradelli's. When I got back 5 minutes later my party had been seated on the second tier of seats-nowhere near the windows! They were told the window tables were all reserved. Several were empty!!!
Everything was great here! Great Food, Great View, Great Service!
always a pleasure to dine here; seafood selections are first rate..
Food was excellent. Very pricey. Everything is a side, nothing comes with the basic meal. View is fabulous!
Overall we had a good experience at McCormick and Kuleto's, but there were some glitches. I let them know that it was my birthday, but when the maitre 'd asked me to look at our menus, I was puzzled because it said "Happy 18th Birthday Athena!"Well at first I thought they were just being sarcastic, but I turned 50, and my name is not Athena. The waitress did come back and apologize, but that was awkward and a bit lame. I ordered the grilled halibut and for the price, the portion was incredibly small. I will have it poached next time because it was also on the dry side. However, my husband and my best friend both loved the sturgeon and salmon respectively. The service was slow, but I think the waitress had too large of an area to serve.
Beautiful restaurant overlooking San Francisco bay. Wonderful seafood menu with enough stuff for those that do not care for seafood. Very happy to discover that there was a kids menu - many choices and very reasonable prices.
I just do not know what happened. I use to love this place. Unfortunately, the past few visits, this one included, the food has just been okay and the service has been terrible. I do not think I will go back. I give up. I guess it is time to find a new seafood restaurant in San Francisco.
Be aware, as this is one of our favorites stop when we hit SF, there is a price curve you are not informed about. As we had a few cocktails earlier in the day and found that later with diner they increased their pricing for the same drinks...BEWARE...
We had a party of ten during Thanksgiving weekend. Our table was ready for us when we arrived and we had a big table next to the window overlooking the ocean! We had great food...service was a little slow but it was packed that night. Holiday decorations were very nice. We had a wonderful time.
An excellent seafood restaurant in a prime location; beautifully arranged and appointed, with a spectacular view of San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. The food was supurb and the service was perfect. All in all, it is an experience we look forward to whenever we are in San Francisco.
Great views, excellent service, good seafood. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We will come again.
We had an amazing server who really strived to give excellent service. I think her name was Tuesday. I only want to come back because of her. She made our Thanksgiving! You can find great seafood all over SF but finding a someone who makes you feel at home is very rare.
I had a 6:45 reservation - granted it was Thanksgiving however, we didn't get seated for 45 minutes. They weren't even apologetic. No one said "thanks for waiting - we appreciate your patience, etc.
Although we were seated 20 minutes late (it was Thanksgiving and the restaurant was packed), our waiter was relaxed but super efficient given how busy he was all evening. We brought along several bottles of wine and the waiter didn't complain about bringing extra sets of glasses as each new bottle was opened. Our meals were all prepared as ordered and we left happy and satisfied.
Looked forward to eating here to satisfy both seafood lovers and those wanting traditional Thanksgiving dinner. We had reservations, checked in 20 minutes early. We sat and in the bar and had drinks and our cocktail waitress assured us that they knew we were in the bar waiting for out name to be called. They don't have intercoms or pagers. After waiting for an hour I went down stairs to check in only to find out they had in their system that we had already been seated. I don't know if someone took our reservation or they adjusted their system in error, that was very disappointing :). Other than that our food was good and server was really nice.
Seated 35 minutes late for our reservation. The food came out cold.
other than the almost hour long wait past our reservation time (it was Thanksgiving day) we had a very enjoyable dinner.
Nice place, great views. we were there on Thanksgiving Day, they behaved as if they were not prepared for a crowd, very odd. Waiter forgot orders, team at front desk very disorganized.
I'm sure it is fine on non holiday days.
thankgiving dinner was great....... the regular menu as fantastic... noise level was low...very child friendly, great view of the bay.... anyone living in San Franisco or just visiting is a must to eat at......
