McCormick & Kuleto's Seafood Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I used to love this restaurant, but since Landry's purchased the McCormicks chain, it has not been the same. McCormicks always emphasized fresh catches prepared in a variety of ways. Landrys has instead settled on a few dishes, very few daily specials, and a rather pricey wine list. I have seen this in other McCormick's locations as well. For example, in its previous incarnation, it offered petrale sole prepared in several different ways: sauted, crusted, etc. It is a great local fish, but limiting it to this preparation is frustrating. When I first went here, I had marvelous sand dabs. Not only are they gone from the menu, the waiter had never heard of this fish.
I would say it has a lovely location with great views, but the food is average, slightly overpriced and disappointing. I won't be back.
The food was not good. We were very disappointed. I ordered crab as I thought that would be better from the west coast. (I am from Chicago). They were very salty and the entire dish was frankly embarrassing. Overcooked corn on the cob with many of the corn "hairs" still attached. My friend had the rockfish dish with a lemon sauce but it tasted like a strange Indian spice. Our waitress seemed put off to wait on us and told us she was cut for the evening then we saw her in the restaurant for the next hour. Also, when they sat us they handed us a "birthday menu" then had to take away our menus as these were not for us. This is not fine dining or even nice dining restaurant and quite expensive. We felt robbed paying for our food. Also both wait staff we had were not knowledgeable about the food.
Reserved on Open Table for our last Saturday night in San Francisco. Even though, it was crowded with a waiting line, we only waited about 5 minutes for a wonderful window table, overlooking the Bay, right at sunset. The food and service were top notch. Highly recommended!
I made the reservations a few weeks earlier. I was hoping to have our party of (7) seven seated next to the large window overlooking the San Francisco Bay. I went to the restaurant and hour early to reiterate my request for the window table. The manager stated that 99% of the customers were all requesting the window tables, so she could not promise me the window table.
My party and I arrived ten minutes before our reservation time...and SURPRISE!...the manager had the perfect window table ready and waiting for us! On top of everything else, she REFUSED to accept a small tip from me for her accommodation. I think the manager's name was Kathy.
Wonderful lunch! and a wonderful view of the Fleet Week air show.
Our server was friendly and attentive. For a tourist-driven spot, food was acceptable. We liked the cioppino, dunganese crab salad and fish & chips. Unfortunately, the hostess was extremely slow and inefficient. The reservation system is almost pointless because the hostess took insane amount of time to seat all the walk-in parties without thinking to ask if anyone waiting in line had reservations. meanwhile those of us with reservations had to be wait for tables to open up since she gave all those tables away for walk-ins. As a local, this will not be a restaurant I want to return to unless forced by visiting friends/family.
The waiter was good, but the expediter was the worst (misplaced almost every dish & was rude - by nature of their work, always in a rush too)!
We love McCormick & Kuketo’s & have been going there for years! Highly recommend it for the views & the food is good too!
The restaurant was cozy, and we had a lovely seat right away with a great view. Food was very good, and they had Kali Hart Chardonnay-one of my favorites for casual sipping. Our waiter however lacked training. It took forever every step of the way and his timing and understanding of how to read a table was abysmal. he asked about an appetizer order. we mentioned that we would rather save room for dessert. Dessert was never offered.
One would think they would have locally sourced seafood options, a broad wine list from the nearby Napa/Sanoma wines...but this is basically the same menu & restaurant as you would get in Indianapolis. The vegetables were over salted and they were out of ahi tuna ... the view of the bay is what sold us on the restaurant and it did not disappoint - if you are looking for a place with a sunset view, this is a good spot. Just stick to cocktails instead of wine and lower your expectation on the menu
Food is average and over priced. Service is average at best. Great view is best thing I can say. Mentioned Wife's 50 bday and no recognition. Sole was soggy. Cioppini was average. Both highly recommended by waitress. Manager not helpful. Have a drink enjoy view and go somewhere else for dinner
Food was okay, ordered ahi which needed extra sauce. Waiter wasn't attentive to us. Our table located by the kitchen and bathroom. We come to this restaurant several times a year, using Open table and usually get a good table. This dinner was a special birthday dinner noted on the reservation and ignored as we needed to tell the waiter.
While looking for a seafood restaurant in the Fisherman's Wharf area, we came across this restaurant in Ghirardelli Square. Not as touristy as the Wharf restaurants and the food was great as well as a dynamite view. Sign up for their dining program for some good perks on future meals at their partner restaurants l
We are local in SF and wanted good food, nice service and ambiance without the crowded, rushed experience many of the "hot" restaurants have today. Got the reservation 2 days in advance and was able to move it back 1/2 hour because we were running late, without any hassle. Most of the tables were filled on the lower/window level so even on a quiet night there was the right balance between quiet and busy. No pressure to finish and other tables were a good distance but we didn't feel isolated. Great location easy/street parking on a weeknight/Tuesday very easy (altho' Ghirardelli has a parking lot). Wonderful, attentive service, and they customized our menu with Happy 25th Anniversary on the top and served a special dessert on their own intiative. A very special evening. Thank you to server Peter. Wonderful!
