The location of this restaurant combined with the excellent food make this a restaurant I frequently visit. The finesse they show with my Scallops are superb and I eat every last bite on my plate. The view of the bay is also very enjoyable.
Very expensive for what you get. Also, the mixed vegetables on offer with the main course was limited to marrow, marrow or marrow. Although we booked in advance for a small party (4 people) we were placed in a large annex that had absolutely no ambiance whatsoever. Not a particularly good experience overall.
Excellent food and the views are amazing.
The food was excellent, service was stellar, and view was fantastic. Beautiful restaurant. Will be back!
I made reservations in advance, advised we were celebrating my daughter’s graduation on her first trip to San Fran. We arrived and were seated at a wonderful table, great service, they’d put a ‘congrats’ on our menu. Very welcoming and my daughter felt special. The food and wine were great, as well.
The hostess was very unfriendly. My food order was incorrect and so I waited for my meal while my husband ate his so that it wouldn’t be cold. It was not a good experience.
We had dinner to celebrate our niece's birthday and the fact that she was visiting us from Mexico City. Paolo, the host, was very attentive, professional and caring the minute we came in and gave us one of the best tables in the restaurant.
Paolo made our evening very special and constantly came to our table to make sure everything was going well with the service.
THANK YOU PAOLO!!
When we were just waiting for the mains, the captain told us that they were out of porterhouse, 10 mnutes for that. then we ask for ribeye. Another 15 minutes. Also out of ribeye. Then we cancel the sides and ask for fish. 10 minutes more, they just find 2 ribeyes. 30 minutes later, we recibe the main course. Really, we can’t recommend a restaurant that suffer this kind of problems of management and control of their inventory and the captain disappears for the rest of the dinner. In the check, they try to charge the porterhouse!!!! That was the last problem
Loved our dinner at this restaurant. Great food. Amazing views. Very special and outstanding.
We made a reservation afternoon of at McCormick & Kuleto's Restaurant in Ghiradelli Square and were thoroughly pleased. The food and service was exceptional and the view was outstanding. On street parking is free after 7pm and/or they validate parking in the garage beneath the restaurant!
Disappointing experience. Waiter got several items mixed up by not writing anything down. Food temperature was only warm when delivered. Never asked if we wanted refills on drinks or coffee. Third time here and probably last time. A bit embarrassing in front of key business guest.
I really didn't feel welcomed by the host. Then there was the policy that you won't seat people until the whole party is there which then means you tell people to sit in the bar. Not everyone wants to sit in the bar. And When we reserve a table, we reserve it. It's a different frame. So my party of 5 was missing one person. That's pretty annoying.
The food was excellent ,the service was very attentive and the wine was quite nice. We had an excellent dinner.
Visiting relatives from the east coast. Good place to accommodate seven people! Food was great, as always.
Fantastic location at Ghiradellis! Views of Bay from a window tables are awesome. Salmon stuffed with crab plus brie - exquisite! With all the choices nearby at the Wharf, this gem was well received and appreciated.
Went for an Anniversary celebration with family in from Massachusetts, party of 7. We got the table we had requested by the window. The host put a VIP card on our table when he seated us, but that was the END of the preferred treatment.
Ordered 3 kids meals first, one of chicken tenders meal came out very dark. I asked to send it back immediately and the server said, "I've seen darker!" So much for making us feel special.
Two salmon meals were ordered but waiter placed 2 scallop orders. When told, he argued we had ordered it!!! It was not replaced until after everyone else was done eating!!
We had to ask for refills on water and drinks. The VIP card was buried under the menus still in the middle of the table that the waiter did not pick up. The food was delicious as always.... BUT, the evening was ruined by attitude of staff and food delivery.
Upon leaving, I saw a manager and told him of all the difficulties. The ONLY thing he said was, "Sorry that happened." Can you imagine? Where is the age old tradition of customer service?!
We have taken visitors to this restaurant for 25 years but have not been there for a couple years. It was such a disappointing experience, we will not be going back there. The bill was over $350 and we were only there an hour. It was not the experience any of us thought it would be.
While we were waiting to be seated. A family of 4 came in without a reservation. The entire restaurant was empty but they were told it would be a half an hour before they could be seated because there were only 2 waiters on duty, so they left. It was a Saturday night at the height of tourist season, why was it not staffed properly?!
I would NOT recommend this S.F. landmark restaurant if you wanted value for money.
We’ve been to M&K a number of time in the past and it was really great (food, view, service). This time was a major disappointment. Arrived at 7:45 for 8:15 reservation, checked in and headed to the bar for a drink(4 of us). The restaurant wasn’t crowded, a few open tables. Sat at a high top, waited 10 minutes for service. Finally the waitress arrives, says nothing, so we just order. Son asks what tequila they have, “I don’t know, you’ll have to go to the bar and look”, sons GF ask what bourbon they have, same response, “go see what we have at the bar”. We figure out the selection ourselves, order and wait. 15 minutes later, no drinks and the head waiter gets us for our table. We sit, and wait again for any action from the staff, no bread, no water, acknowledgement. I look for a manager who asks us what we want. Bread, our drinks, water, and a waitress. She finally arrives, asks what we want to eat and leaves. 20 minutes later, we did get bread, no drinks or food yet. Food finally arrives and it was ok, scallops were fine, chowder was good, salads were good, salmon was tasteless. We finally get our original drinks. Server never came back to see how our food was, nor did we get the side of asparagus we order. Overall a major disappointment. View however was wonderful. Nice sunset.
Spectacular view. Great menu with many fresh seafood options. Attentive service. Good wine selection and excellent layout of all the tables to maximize the view of Alcatraz.
I'm giving the restaurant the benefit of the doubt when it comes to ratings. We've had a tradition of having dinner here for my husband's birthday, which happens to be the 4th of July. The waiter may have been focused on being efficient and brought out a birthday treat at the start of our meal. My husband had to eat it first, as it had ice-cream. The restaurant was out of bread. You're in Fishermen's Warf area and out of sourdough (???). They should have had someone run down to Boudin's and pick up some bread. Overall, dinner was good and the view, spectacular. Just a really off night for service.
Great food, we had to wait a bit even though we had reservations. It was the Fourth of July when we ate here so understood the wait times.
We booked a later time so we could watch the fireworks for July 4th. The staff was so apologetic when they were behind on time for our reservation due to folks ‘staying longer’ than expected. They did their best and we were seated in plenty of time with a great view of the fireworks!
My family loved it!
We so enjoyed our dinner on the 4th of July, incredible view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco Bay. Our waiter was very attentive and provided us with excellent service.
We dined on 7/4, and wanted a view of waterfront. Because of the high demand for view dining, restaurant served a limited menu. However, the selections were fine, and food was well prepared. Understandably it's a tourist restaurant, so the menu isn't as creative as local SF popular dining choices. That said, the service was excellent, and we really enjoyed the whole experience. Would probably take non locals there for the ambience. BTW, I am not a huge fan of Slanted Door, which is also popular with tourists for same reasons. Food while good not exceptional, and atmosphere is too frenetic.
It was alright. The food wasn’t really what we expected. Small portions and too expensive.
Service was terrible. Server kept blaming manager for issues. Food was good overall bur poorly represented by the FOH.
This used to be a special place for a romantic dinner. Now being overrun by classless noisy tourists in slashed jeans and T-shirts. Good food and view but ambience way downhill from last visit.
Loved It! Out of state family visiting California for first time. Beautiful setting, views and great food!
We really enjoyed our lunch! The food was the delicious and the view is beautiful!
We ordered Rib-eye steak cooked medium well (very slight pink in the center). The steak came back rare (pink from center to surface). We requested the steak to be re-cooked to medium well, but it came back medium rare (mostly pink when cut). Our server informed the manager who apologized and graciously did not charge us for the meal. Nonetheless, it is extremely disappointing that an establishment with the reputation of McCormick & Kuleto’s can’t properly prepare a steak, given 2 attempts. (Even the steak at Black Angus & Outback was much better)! Given it was the first time we dined at McCormick’s, we will most likely not dine there again. Lastly, the Bernaise sauce that accompanied our asparagus was sub-par.
the food was very enjoyable and the hamburger on the kid menu was huge.
Good food, excellent service and outstanding view. I'd not say it's special but it's good.
Would have liked to give a more positive review but that is hard to do so when people pay for food items they did not receive. I personally am still waiting for my bowl of clam chowder, clearly identified on my receipt but never made if to my table..
Food on the other hand was excellent.
Come for the scenery, settle for the food. The scenery is 5 stars, but the food is more like 3-4 stars. Met expectations but did not exceed them like the view does. It's hard to beat sitting at a Hollywood-style booth sipping Champagne and watching the sailboats float past Alcatraz. Sweeping views. Friendly, attentive service.
Extremely disturbing tables with VERY misbehaved kids. Direct staff did their best but management should have stepped in. It was that bad.
We had a table for 4 by the window and the view was beautiful! The food and service was very disappointing for a McCormick restaurant though. The fish appeared to be previously frozen and served with “mash” potatoes and vegetable medley. We ordered 2 ribeyes and they were completely different and came with vegetables only. Our waiter was young and probably inexperienced but spilled red wine on my jacket and had no idea what to do because of lack of training. The best thing about this restaurant is it’s location but was definitely our last visit.
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. They put a congratulatory note for is on top of the menu which we loved and surprised and delighted us with dessert!
Service was VERY slow even though the restaurant was not very busy as it was a Monday night. Took a long time in between seeing the waiter. No breadbowls for clam chowder....send someone to buy some, no excuse, Boudin is right up the street! Waited over 30 minutes for our bill and had to ask twice. Food was outstanding however and view is unsurpassed.
Superb service, great food, and incredible views of San Francisco Bay!
The atmosphere is amazing this was our second trip there. The wait staff was attentive and pleasant. The view from the tables of Alcatraz is breathtaking. Definitely one of our favorite places for a great steak
Great seating with a beautiful view. Tasty cuisine and attentive service.
