McCormick & Kuleto's Seafood Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
With our OpenTable reservation, we got seated right away and we sat by the window with a great view of Alcatraz and a beautiful sunset. Our server was very nice. We decided not to have any appetizers, they serve you sourdough bread anyway. We got our entree pretty fast. I had the sesame crusted ahi tuna, it was a great choice, it was so delicious. If you aren't too hungry, this is wonderful. The bok choy is very yummy, though I would like a little more Wasabi in my mashed potatoes, didn't taste it at all. My husband ordered the ribeye steak blue and it was done to his request. He's happy with it and enjoyed it very much. I had a bite and it was fabulous. Hopefully we can go back again.
Food was good but service was not that great. Waitress kept walking by ignoring. Ordered soup never came, ordered desert and they were out, took 15 minutes to determine that there was no desert. Waitress took forever for anything and she barely stopped by to see how things were when she walked by. Being Valentine's Day service should have been exceptional and it wasn't. Being my first time here if service is like this I will not be back.
The restaurant was very nice although it is very big so the noise level is quite high. The service was ok but not as good as I expected, staff wandering around with plates of food not knowing what table to go to! The food was very nice.
I requested a window table when I booked several weeks in advance but was seated a couple of rows back, all l can suggest is calling to confirm 24hrs before hand which I didn’t do!
Valentine's Day dinner. Seated promptly on arrival at precise reservation time. Service was prompt and helpful, with proper amount of rechecking. My wife had scallops; I had seafood newburg; time of food delivery was good. Excellent sourdough bread was served promptly with whipped butter. Presentation of food was excellent as was taste, texture, sauce-- amounts were filling without additional dishes. Only defect was unavailability of Riesling wine I had ordered. Prices are appropriate for locale and type of restaurant -- about $10/glass for wine, $36 for entrees. # of large scallops in my seafood newburg was generous. A fine dinner.
Excellent Waiter service. Friendly and warm smile! Food is delicious but pricy. Therefore only on special occasion. Check in with host ( person who assigned the tables) could be more attentive. I checked in with name and time and was left standing for 8 minutes not knowing what’s next. People with the same time check in after me was sat before us? 5:45 pm reservation for Mr. Chang. Finally was taken to a table after the waiting area was cleared. Was not offered a choice of booth like the others. Didn’t want to make a scene since it was a special evening. The waiter and food made up for rude host!
We were there for Valentine's Day, and had a reservation. At 5:00 the lobby was full and people were waiting outside. Their seating process was very slow, apparently not all of their servers had arrived yet! We finally got seated. Next, the service was so slow, our server wouldn't come back for the longest time so we kept asking any server or staff person who happened to come by for what we needed. Next, when we got our food it wasn't hot and it was just ok, nothing wonderful especially for the price! The ambiance and location is great, but not sure if the lack of good service and mediocre food makes it worth it!
We booked for Valentine’s dinner. It was easier to go to the Eiffel Tower for lunch than this restaurant. Our reservation was at 5:30 pm and they were changing shifts so they had everyone wait at the door before seating us. You would think they would adjust the schedule knowing there would be a rush at 5:30. Finally we were seated and then our server apparently was to busy “cleaning up a mess” to attend to us. When the server finally arrived his technique was to hover over us the whole time making it worse. The view was magnificent and the food excellent but the experience was terrible. Sad.
We came here to celebrate Valentine's Day. We had been here the week before to celebrate our anniversary, when we asked then about the upcoming Valentine's Day dinner menu but they told us they were still working on it. We went ahead and made our Valentine's dinner reservation for 4pm. The day before Valentine's Day, I called to find out what the menu would be for the special occasion, but the hostess that answered the phone said it hadn't been printed yet. Anyway, we decided to come to a late lunch instead, and arrived around 2:30pm. We told the hostess we had spoken with the manager, Toby, about maybe coming earlier, and he said no problem. I also mentioned to the hostess that we did have dinner reservations for 4pm through OpenTable and she said there would be no problem. (However I received an email later from OpenTable, that thought we had cancelled our reservation and hadn't shown up. I emailed that we did show up). All in all, we had a very nice late luncheon, with a delicious crab louie salad and our favorite dish, the Petrale Sole. Our waiter was nice but whenever he asked if we needed anything, he kept forgetting, so we did end up having to wave him down and remind him fairly often for our drink refills, water and bread. That was a bit annoying. However, we enjoyed the view and our late luncheon and will be a regular customer.
The restaurant atmosphere is great and the table service very good. However, the food came out at different time causing that awkward wait of some in our party. A medium-rare requested rib-eye came out well done and when sent back, they had no more of it. Major fail but they did apologize several times and took care of that meal on the bill.
We celebrated our 48th Anniversary (and my belated Jan 1st birthday with a special $25 Birthday certificate from my Landry's membership). We have been coming here for quite a while and enjoy the food and ambience and view of the bay. Our server was very nice but talked in a very low tone of voice so it was hard to hear what she was saying sometimes, and we had to ask her to repeat things. All in all, our meals were delicious and we were given a free dessert to share.
We were celebrating our 52nd Anniversary and were quite pleased, as we had visited San Francisco many times and have eaten at McCormick and Kuleto's many times, but never for a special occasion. I had identified ahead of time to Table One that it was our Anniversary. To our surprise the Host was able to seat us at a great window table overlooking the Bay and since it was a clear night we could see the lights from the hills of Saucailito and even over to Tiburon. The next surprise was receiving our menus, and at the top of the menu was a Boldly Written "Happy Anniversary" with the Date on it. Our meals were outstanding, as my wife had the Salmon and I had the Crusted Petiole Sole. Our last pleasant surprise and treat was a complementary desert of chocolate brownie covered with ice cream. Our Waitress was very attentive and enjoyable and our Host personally delivered the desert and seemed quite glad to be able to do some things to make our evening even more special, What a great evening and dinner it was!!
A little disappointing for this caliber of restaurant. Our server was less than what was expected. Took the order incorrectly. The other couple dining with us ordered two different entrees but only one was entered into the kitchen. So the couple had to share. The server did not apologize or offered to rush something out for them. The server also never came back to refresh drinks. We ordered hot tea, the server brought the hot water but was not give a teabag until we asked for one. We felt rushed. Our server definitely needs more training.
I took my mom here for her 60th Birthday. They made us special keepsake menus and gave her a free dessert with candle. The service was above and beyond. The food is always top notch. The best crab cakes in the country are served here. The steak was cooked exactly as requested. We sat by the windows and watched the sun set over the bay and golden gate bridge.
This waterfront restaurant has become a tradition for our group at a bi-annual conference. The staff has always been very accommodating to us, whether a small or large group. We are typically seated at a window table so we can enjoy the view, the waiters have easily handled multiple credit cards with no problem, and the food is always exceptionally good for a large restaurant which is often quite crowded. Love this place!!! Keep in mind, it helps to have advance reservations, as M & K is popular and often has a wait on weekends especially.
HAD RELATIVES VISITING AND WANTED TO TAKE THEM TO A NICE TOURISTY PLACE LIKE GHIRARDELLI SQUARE SO I WENT AHEAD AND RESERVED HERE. THE ENTREE SIZES TEND TO BE ON THE SMALL SIDE AND MY HAWAIIAN FISH SAUCE (SUPPOSED TO BE SWEET), ACTUALLY WAS A BIT BITTER. THE OTHER PLATES WE ORDERED WERE OK AND THE ONLY THING THAT STOOD OUT IN TERMS OF FLAVOR WERE THE SCALLOPS.
I would have given it a higher rating, but was very disappointed that the crab in the cioppino was frozen. The salads we split were a good size, there was notsplit charge. The clam chowder was excellent. The cesar salad was a bit limp, could have used a little more umph.
I said date nighte and window seat, so either they were discriminating me or something and place a table by the window right at the top of a stair landing about 50m away from main dining area... and actually set it up while i was standing. Stair landing?? I had to complain and then they move me back to main dining area. Also next to landing wete other minorities with noisy kids. It appears main dining hall was white. Something fishy is going on here.
I am disabled and this restaurant paid no attention to my needs. The have a lift but did it mention it to me. I had to struggle with 2 flights of stairs up & down before I found the lift. I will never go there again! It’s a great view but the employees are totally disinterested in there patrons needs.
As a vegan, I did not have high expectations owing to their specialty of seafood. I turned it over to the chef and he did an incredible job. The pasta, covered with a variety of steam vegetables, and tomato sauce was absolutely superb. My wife informed me that her salmon stuffed with crab and shrimp was excellent too. It was our first time at the restaurant - we will be back again.
The location in Girardelli square was great. they gave me a nice table near the window, overlooking the waterfront. The food was great: I had tasty lobster bisque, 6 oysters and mahi mahi that was in high quality. The service was excellent: one waitress took care of me but the food came with some others. They waited enough time between the dishes and that was very important for me. In general, the restaurant looks good, a lot of space between adjacent tables , not noisy. I would certainly recommend the place to friends, although it was quite expensive.
