McCormick & Kuleto's Seafood Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
As a vegan, I did not have high expectations owing to their specialty of seafood. I turned it over to the chef and he did an incredible job. The pasta, covered with a variety of steam vegetables, and tomato sauce was absolutely superb. My wife informed me that her salmon stuffed with crab and shrimp was excellent too. It was our first time at the restaurant - we will be back again.
The location in Girardelli square was great. they gave me a nice table near the window, overlooking the waterfront. The food was great: I had tasty lobster bisque, 6 oysters and mahi mahi that was in high quality. The service was excellent: one waitress took care of me but the food came with some others. They waited enough time between the dishes and that was very important for me. In general, the restaurant looks good, a lot of space between adjacent tables , not noisy. I would certainly recommend the place to friends, although it was quite expensive.
Guests from out of town LOVE having lunch here - the view, the atmosphere, the menu, location... My last two guests requested we eat here again on their last night in town. It’s a very pretty place and the food is good. It’s a superior seafood experience of any place I’ve tried in the fisherman’s wharf area.
Celebrating the New Year with brunch at this restaurant has become our family tradition. The food and service are good, the view is spectacular, and there's not much of a crowd for brunch on the first day of the year so no hassle getting a table for a large group.
I was very disappointed with our meal. The quality did not match the price at all; the prices should have been about half of what they were for the quality. My prime rib was full of sinew and was very chewy and my husband's lobster thermidor was very small with very little lobster meat. It looked like there may have been some good views, but I think we may have had the worst table. Most everything else was ok, but it was definitely not worth the price.
Trying to figure out what could be made GF was like a guessing game. Either label gf Options your menu or have a separate gf menu. Waiter wasn’t sure and we needed to ask several times for him to check with the chef. Would be so much safer and easier to have a separate gf menu. At dessert - the waiter said the sorbet was gf. We had to ask him to please inquire about the flourless chocolate cake and Creme brûlée - both of Willi h were apparently gf. The waiter seemed not thrilled to have to ask questions of the chef.
I’ve had better seafood in Nebraska, the risotto was soggy, chowder wasn’t anything special, and the stuffed salmon was soggy. Might have been because it was New Year’s Eve, they did comp the sea bass, the waitress was trying, but will not be giving it another try. We love the McCormick and schmick’s in Kansas City not sure what went wrong with this one.
The food was horrible. I ordered the Filet and it was the worst I;ve ever had. Dry, chewy, and over-cooked. I had them take it back and the chef said that was the best they could do and offer me the salmon dish! Salmon was not much better. Same goes for the Prime Rib my wife ordered.
Positives: NY Eve, early dinner. Our server, Alex, was very nice and accommodating. Thanks Alex!
Food was very good (too full for dessert.) View was nice.
Negatives: The host at check-in was awful. Made us wait 15 min to be seated. He delightfully chatted with a group of 5 people, who all blocked the entrance, for at least a full 5 minutes and ignored all other customers entering to check in. Another lady that was waiting to check in told me that they were speaking a "foreign language" she knew, and leaned toward me and said "If I'd known that was the way to get his attention I will try that too." So she pushed her way up to the front, spoke the "foreign language" to him! He was suddenly attentive and then had both that lady and her husband and the other group of 5 seated!
Then WE still waited...my husband stood up and stood in front of the podium and the "host" continued to ignore my husband. Wow, just RUDE. Finally we were seated. Unfortunately we were seated at a table next to the "foreign language" speakers! The "old man" of the group spoke very loud (hard of hearing?) so I was annoyed. I would have asked to be seated elsewhere...but it was NY Eve, most of the restaurant was full, and I'm sure the "host" would have been glad to make us wait for another table for at least another 1/2 hour or more.
We won't be returning.
This is our favorite seafood restaurant in San Francisco. The seafood is always fresh and everything is delicious. The ambiance is perfectly elegant/casual and never stuffy. The staff is one of the best in the city. A perfect restaurant to celebrate any occasion.
We were looking for somewhere to eat after doing the Alcatraz night tour. I looked up nearby restaurants on Open Table, and chose this because of its good reviews and the fact they still had a 7:30 reservation for 6 available. We had a table with a beautiful view overlooking the bay. Our meals ranged from filet mignon to chicken to shrimp. All the food was great, our server was very attentive, and my 9- and 10- year old boys liked it, too. I would definitely go back.
I invited out-of-town friends to dine here, having had lovely experiences in the past. Unfortunately, our waitress was an angry woman and she took it out on us. When I complained to the manager, his response was simply to confirm that he was not at all surprised at our experience with this waitress. Really??? Embarrassing to say the least and disappointing at best.
We had a horrible experience with service, seating that looked directly into kitchen (door left open repeatedly from dining area to kitchen), 3 of 12 menu items were not available and men’s bathroom was filthy (see photos). Everyone in our group was dumbfounded by the apparent arrogance of Douglas, the manager.
Even though we had reservations and arrived 15 minutes early, it was very chaotic just to get seated at our table - maybe because it was Christmas Day? Once seated, the situation improved and we had a lovely dinner with a dazzling view of Aquatic Park. The prime rib was delish and the stuffed salmon very tasty.
