McCleary's Famous Fish and Chips on a Toasted Kaiser, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Tartar Sauce and a Pickle
I felt rushed after we were finish eating - everyone kept coming by and asking if they could take this or take that. And when the check came and we paid the waitress asked if she could bring change - I’m sorry that is rude - I was in the business for 40 years and you always bring change back you don’t ask - you need to allow the customers say that’s yours - or keep the change - you don’t ask someone if they need change.
From now on I will sit at the bar and eat as the service there is far superior.
Blown away by the food … best quality and overall in Lancaster County by far. Neat atmosphere and great service. Top notch all the way around!
The staff is the best. Always friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that I got the garlic/Parm wings and there was very little garlic. Still tasty, but I wanted that garlic punch. If I ever get them again I'll ask for more of that.
Great experience as usual at McCleary’s! Our waitress, Michelle, was very attentive & kind! We highly recommend McCleary’s!
The service was excellent! My husband had the chicken pot pie…he said it was delicious. It arrived steamy hot, just as he likes it. I ordered the burger, medium. It was closer to well done. OK not a problem. I expected better. The burger was very “heavy “. The roll was stale & not toasted. I cut it in half & ate most of the half. My husband ate the other half, the pickle….delicious he said! The French fries were great, nice & crispy. Now it’s a Pub. That being said, it is very dark & noisy inside. We choose to eat “outside “. It’s not really outside….enclosed room surrounded with windows. So a little brighter. The furniture was dated & worn. The room could use a good dusting & cleaning. I wish I could remember the server’s name, she was great!
The food is always great and really good beer selection. Get the wings.
Perfect place for good food, great staff and ambience. All occasions can be celebrated here.
Love the atmosphere at McCleary‘s and they’ve got a very good selection of beer. And they could even make a pretty good martini too. The food ranges in quality but the spicy Thai chicken wings are out of this world and should not be missed.
Very good to food excellent service
Great service in a quaint pub.
Good food and on tap beers. They need some waiters right now - help needed sign is posted. Great place to hang out with friends or family.
Everything was delicious. Had rib eye steak special done to perfection. Had fish and chips....beat ever eaten!! Prices were reasonable for the quality of food! Definitely returning soon!
The food was good, table location was not. Asked for another table, was denied. Don't sit out front at a table in the bar area, foot traffic and noise. Service was fair, waitress took 3 times to get our checks correct and that was AFTER charging the wrong dinners on each of our cards ! Took 3 days but it finally got straightened out.
We'll go back because we had good experiences other times we were there, just a bad night this time.
Our first time in the "outdoor" area. Hopefully we were far enough from others to be safe during this pandemic, and the setting was pleasant, relatively simple and laid-back. Food was at least as good as expected. A win-win.
My fiancé and I are from out of town and came in the night before a wedding we are attending. We were lucky enough to have the bartender as our waiter. He was honestly the best waiter we have ever had. Our orders were perfect, came out in a timely manner and his recommendations were dead on. We were not rushed and were encouraged to try the beer selections while deciding. We bought a growler of the lemon balm to take home just to remember the experience of the Irish pub!
The food is really good and a reasonable price. They have a great craft beer selection. Our server was nice and while you could tell she was very busy, she would always look over or check on us to make sure we didn't need anything. Great experience overall.
Dinner portions were small and high in sodium. A glass of house wine was overpriced.
Server and food was excellent. Our first time visiting will be returning. Loved the variety of menu!!
McCleary’s has always been a favorite pub. It’s great to see they still deliver great food and service. We were very happy with our experience having only recently returned from living out of the area. If in doubt, order the tips and toast - it never fails to please.
Dinner with friends. Great time, great food!
Fun Place; food just good but realize a place can’t be A+ every time. Really like the place we had outside reservation but with 95+ degrees asked to move to inside. Madison made it happen without a problem.
We both had delicious dinners. We have been there quite a few times and were never disappointed in McCleary's. I enjoyed a delicious dessert also.
We both had the Fish & Chips with the Guinness Smithwick's Irish Ale. The fish was good but a little overcooked and over-breaded. Service a bit slow but OK. Wonderful table in the corner away from loud people. A little too much to eat and overall quite expensive. I'm a regular customer and will definitely go again.
Everything was perfect: a lovely corner table outside, a wonderfully helpful server, and a perfectly-prepared and presented meal. What more could we want? Thank you!
Food and service was amazing as always. We got the Shepard pie and bangers and mash!
Never disappointed with the food-outstanding! The service was excellent. We stayed for the band, which we loved. Always a good time, great food and service here!
Fish Tacos were delicious, as were the Bangers and Mash. Would go there again if in the area.
Worth the trip. Great ambience. Great staff and superb food.
It took for us to ask for a waiter to come over after 10 minutes of waiting, but after that, the service was fantastic. The food was great too!
Perfect place with great workers who are so, Friendly! Lower the prices a bit though
Great atmosphere and wonderful food! Gem of a restaurant in a small, quaint town.
We are always satisfied with the food and service.
We ordered an appetizer that we had before and it was different. It had an ingredient we had not previously experienced. No way to know but we enjoyed it less this time. Then we had one entree, which was a salad with a missing ingredient. We mentioned it and were not charged but it was a slip up that we did not expect from this place. Our waitress was fantastic the drinks were spot on. We like the ambience. We will return but this trip was not up to our expectations.
I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to McCleary's. The outdoor patio was mostly full, but it was still easy to converse with my wife. The menu had several options that I want, but we both shared a Bruschetta appetizer and had Shepherds Pie. It was delicious with a nice mixture of lamb and beef and savory seasoning. The service was quick, so really a two thumbs up. I look forward to returning!!
One of McCleary's featured dishes is their fish and chips, which they claim is among the top five in the nation. My wife had it and was unimpressed. I had the shepherd's pie and enjoyed it. Their menu is long and varied for a pub. I'd like to return to try other items on it.
Great food. Great service as usual. The patio is air conditioned which is nice.
The food was really good and the service was attentive. We were seated in a 2 person booth by the stage. It was a good location. We were finishing up when the music started. It wasn't terribly loud. Had we stayed, we would still have been able to talk.
Fantastic Irish pub hidden away in Marietta. Who knew?! I had the award winning fish & chips and would definitely give them an award. So glad to have found this gem and will definitely be back to try other menu items!
