Mazza Mediterranean Cuisine Ratings and Reviews
Visited this restaurant many times, but this visit was unacceptable. The service was awful, the food was inedible, and overall I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant after this visit to my worst enemy.
It took our server a long time just to take our order. The food was served to us piecemeal, instead of serving our party of six at the same time. One of our orders was undercooked, another which was ordered rare was well done. Salmon was dry and not tasty and an order of shrimp that was ordered unseasoned, was over seasoned. A terrible night at Mazza.
We had a fabulous meal with excellent service. We were there for my husband's 50th birthday dinner. We had a large group of 17 and were seated in the front room - it felt like a private party and that we could be as loud as we wanted to be.
Our waiter was Ray and he was top knotch. Our food was all greasy a served in a timely fashion. We all can't wait to return!!!
Mazza is a good example of a nice restaurant where a mismatch between the quality of the kitchen and front of house can taint the experience. The food here rarely disappoints; however, the service is all over the place. For this visit, it started with a hostess who didn't ask for a name when told a reservation was involved. The server was attentive but the pressure was on to turn the tables, making for a hurried dinner (and missing out on the belly dancer show). On this particular night (Saturday), 1/2 the restaurant was set aside for a special event. This is not a large place. Everyone else was packed into the remaining space, which was a negative given that the a/c is not the best. On a positive note: Mazza just celebrated its 10th year, which is like 3 lifetimes in the restaurant biz.
Always a great experience at Mazza. The food is exceptional, especially the Drunken Halloumi as appetizer and the unique Ashta Dessert, both of which I only find in Mazza. Great ambiance especially Fridays & Saturdays with the bellydancing show. Great gem in South Florida!
Had dinner here for my daughter's 23rd birthday. We were greeted immediately and seated promptly even with a large party of 15. Both the service and food was good. The wait staff was courteous and attentive.
I would definitely recommend the restaurant two friends and family and would definitely go there again
What happened to Mazza? Usually it's consistent and good. That is, until this weekend when we went with 8 others. No one enjoyed their meal. All the flavors were off. All the portions were beyond skimpy. Someone was very heavy handed with mint and pepper. Very embarrassing for us as the hosts. Not making the drive back. Probably not recommending it anymore either. What a shame.
Server was very confused. Spanikopita was made with grape leaves not spinach. Geeek salad was a far cry from a traditional Greek salad. Dinner for two with a few drinks and anappetizer was 75.00. I barely ate my food and didn't want to take it home. The belly dancer entertainment was nice.
We had not been there as a couple in many years so my wife and I decided it was time to go again, as she enjoys a good gyro. She did not like the formula they use at all; too spongy and not meaty enough. portion size is average to small. (which turned out to be a good thing) Overall food quality is OK, but nothing special. We have enjoyed much better value/taste in other med type restaurants. However, If you do go, dine on Fri or Sat night with belly dancer as it is a special item not normally available to most area restaurants. Stick to the hummus plate and salads. Also their feta cheese is cow's milk, not sheep/goat, which is blasphemy as far as I am concerned. Feta is only Feta if made with sheep's milk or combination of sheep/goat. When you cheap out on something like this... it shows.
The food and service was top notch. Very well priced. They were able to accommodate our large party and did a very good job at being attentive and making us feel special. Only con... it was a bit hot probably bc the restaurant was full. Other than that small thing, it was amazing. Highly recommend.
