Had not been to Mazagan in a while. Service was terrible. They also tried to serve us turned wine. Used to be crowded but hardly anyone there. What happened?

Our server was very nice but waited a long time to take our order. The food was tasty though.

The food was excellent. I loved the chicken pastille and the lamb chops. The decor was beautiful. And the service was very good. Our waiter offered to keep our leftovers at the restaurant while we went to the show next door. We picked them up afterwards. That was so nice of them.

Although the food was absolutely delicious, the service was very poor. The restaurant was 60% full for dinner that evening so it was not busy. We were a party of 5. When the waiter arrived, instead of asking if the table was ready to order, he just went to the youngest person and asked quietly for their order and then he proceeded to take all our orders in a rushed manner without answering our questions. One person in our party ordered two appetizers for he main meal and asked that they not be brought out until the other 4 meals were delivered so we could all eat together. This same waiter brought out her appetizers within 5 minutes and she ended up eating alone. 30 minutes later the balance of the meals were delivered. We felt we were rushed through dessert.

This was some of the worst service I've ever received. They forgot about some of the food we ordered. Then they wildly under-cooked it. They forgot about our boxes for our food. They forgot to get us the bill. Nothing was comp'd and the waitstaff spent most of the time flirting and gossiping. Never going back again.

I was disappointed with the quality of the food and service my wife and I had at Magazan. Perhaps we did not order the right dishes. Still, I will not dine there again. The service was puzzling. While there were relatively few customers when we arrived and a sizable wait staff, it took what seemed like a long time to get our drinks and food, not to mention the attention of our waitress.

Having returned about 3 months ago from a fabulous tour of Morocco, we contacted another couple living in Richmond we'd met on that tour & invited them for the week-end so we could reconnect, share some photos & especially revisit some of the wonderful tangine dishes we'd enjoyed in Morocco. We were anxious as we went to Mazagan on a Saturday evening. The place at 6:30 was virtually empty... that should have been a tip-off. After our 1st round of drinks arrived, we ordered only to be told the much anticipated lamb tangine was unavailable as they were out of lamb. What to think of a Moroccan restaurant on Saturday evening with no lamb! We settled for less desired other entrees. The four ordered starter dishes arrived without serving spoons that then required each person to use their personal fork to move the morsel to their plate, eat it with that fork and then go back for more with their same fork.. not the way to present starter dishes. We tried to get our waitress' attention to correct this, but was not able to bring her to our table. All & all, a mediocre evening. The lamb kabobs 2 of us ate were replete with grissel, and while tasty.. were not the anticipated lamb tagine that brought us there in the first place. One of us had the chicken bastilla only to comment that it tasted like it been warmed up vice just baked. While the evening served the requirement to revisit the food of Morocco as we recalled, it was so-so at best & a major disappointment with the lack of a lamb tangine. Not going back.

I loved the ambiance and live band but was disappointed in the service. We made reservations for a birthday at 8 and arrived to a confused hostess who said there was no reservation. She then informed us we could wait for a table to finish. This took 45 minutes. We stood at the bar and ordered drinks (they have a nice selection of speciality cocktails) and then waited some more. Finally once the table was empty we watched in horror (I’m being dramatic) as someone else was seated there! LoL the birthday girl actually had to go up to the table and kindly remind the staff that we were still waiting for a 8pm reserved table! We were seated, ordered food and at 9 requested a hookah. She asked if we wanted the hookah now or later, we said now. The hookah arrived at 10:15. That’s a whole hour and 15 minutes. I was definitely annoyed by it all but the food was really good (that was a plus) and it was my wife’s birthday so I did my best not to engage. The manager did bring us a bottle of champagne after I got up to politely explain the reservation and hookah situation. I thought that was a kind gesture. Overall, I’d give them another chance. But just as a heads up, make a reservation on opentable or any other platform then CALL THEM and when you arrive if anything is awry, see the manager first. The hostess seemed a little timid and lost. Bless her.
