Maysville Ratings and Reviews
Loved this restaurant. When it was recommended I thought hmm Maysville. Strange name for a NYC restaurant; sounds more like the old TV show with Gomer Pyle! So, got there and saw the most beautiful bar with 250 different kinds of bourbon and bottles to match. Thus, Maysville, TE - big bourbon country. Very relaxing atmosphere, attentive service and delicious food.
I really liked Maysville but the noise level at dinner on Thursday night was thunderous. Food and service were great. Whiskey selection is one of the best. But people in the packed bar were shouting. This made everyone else shout too. Really impacted what would have otherwise been a great experience.
I loved the ambience of the place - very stylish and chill. The food was good and presented nicely and our server, LeeAnne, was great. She knew how to get our attention without ruining our conversation, was very knowledgable about the menu and she didn't rush us even though we lingered a bit at the end ordering more and more wine.
I met a friend to catch up. We were looking forward to spending some time together over cocktails and lunch. Another friend recommended the Maysville and it delivered. The food was innovative and delicious. The cocktails were unique and fun. The service was the perfect blend of attention and discretion - our server made thoughtful suggestions and never made us feel rushed. The space is modern and relaxing. We could have stayed all afternoon! We’ll b back. Thank you for a wonderful lunch!
Convenient location right across the street from my apartment. We arrived at 12 noon on
Tuesday, so it was quiet and peaceful. Food was delicious, but a bit expensive. Services
were excellent. I forgot my glasses and they called me to tell me that they had found them.
Food and beverages were excellent once we got them. The service was severely lacking in timelines. There for over 1.5 hours and only had the chance for app, entrees, and two drinks. Server rarely came to table. Glasses sat empty for 15-20 minutes. Bummer, as I really wanted to enjoy ourselves and enjoy the night away from kiddos. Instead spent more time discussing how we would like to order our dinner, another round of drinks. Wanted to have a final round with desserts but ran out of time. Disappointing.
Interesting cocktails, food, and people watching. This place had been on my list of new places to try and did not disappoint. Beautiful space, though smaller in person than in photos. Extensive bourbon selection and excellent bartenders. Got a variety of apps and a dessert and all were very good- whitefish mousse, shrimp roll, beef carpaccio, raw oysters, and peach cobbler sundae. I heard the chicken under a brick was great and will be back to try it. Was seated in the section by the bar and was slightly unnerved by how close some of the standing bar patrons got to the table-but they seemed to realize the space was tight and that they were blocking the service path after a bit and moved closer to the bar. I did not mind pur seating with proximity to the bar since it was a casual occasion and we were amused by the bar scene, but if you are here for a more intimate occasion, I recommend you request the tables at the back of the restaurant. Service was impeccable- they did not miss a beat. Will definitely be back.
I am on record with my belief that Maysville is one of the best restaurants in the boroughs. From the decor and design, vibe, service, and food Maysville delivers consistently, deliciously, and with character.
Even on a night when patrons are talking so loudly to each other that they can be heard three tables away (this happened on the night of 9/9/17) the overall experience is so good that I never felt the need to ask our server to politely shut the patron up nor did I desire to go to that table and ask him politely and directly to muzzle it.
That's how good the experience is at Maysville.
My husband and I have been dining at Maysville for years now. We invited another couple to join us on Saturday evening. While the appetizers were good, they forgot a salad for my friend, and the main courses were VERY delayed. They sent over a small dish of vegetables "from the kitchen" to tied us until the main courses, but we ended us finishing our bottle of wine, while we still waited for the main course, so we ordered another bottle. The 2nd bottle was also taking a long time to be sent up from the cellar. We ended up canceling the 2nd bottle, and finished our main courses, which were very salty. (I've eaten the chicken dish many times, but it was never so salty.) We just couldn't wait to get the check and leave. Needless to say, we didn't impress our friends, and we'll probably not return after this poor experience. It wasn't even that full on Saturday, so not sure what the problem was.
