Executive Chef Michael Gulotta was named a 2016 Best New Chef by Food and Wine Magazine and Maypop was named a 2017 best new restaurant by New Orleans magazine as well as a 2017 peoples choice best new restaurant by Gambit Magazine.
I ordered the calamari, and the Tom Yum dish with shrimp and Florida clams. Both dishes were very tasty; however, the cost of both was pretty outrageous for the amount of food given. The calamari was I believe $11, and it was maybe a handful, and the Tom Yum for lunch was $17, and it might have been one of the smallest dishes I've ever seen. I realize our portions for restaurants are generally way too large, but I would like to actually like to be full after eating an entree. Both my companion and myself ordered an appetizer and an entree, and we still weren't really full after finishing both. I did enjoy the sampler biscuit and dessert they gave us before and after our meal.
Delicious food, beautifully presented, very friendly and qualified staff.
Maypop was excellent! Biggest regret is that we don’t live in New Orleans so we can try the other restaurant and return to Maypop. Every course was so good but you just can’t order it all if there are only three people. God I wish there was one in Los Angeles.
I haven’t been to Maypop for the past year or more. I always enjoyed the creative food but my wife was not a fan. The new menu is amazing. We met Chef Michael who came out and greeted us too. My wife told him that Maypop was her No. 1 restaurant now in New Orleans. That is a big change. The chilly crab, the Tom yum noodles and the fried oysters were just amazing. Will be back very soon and many times too.
Daughter was visiting and we’ve never been able to get a reservation before so we took advantage this time and truly enjoyed it. It was amazing food and great service.
If you ever tire of the wonderfully heavy and rich servings that make NOLA famous, this is a nice break. Incredibly eclectic menu that will remind you of high end trendy foodie stops in your hometown. Definite recommend
Dynamite place. The bucatini was a top 10 pasta dish for me. We also got the fish which was swordfish that day - incredible sauce and cooked perfectly. Don’t be afraid to treat yourself and get the bread service for like $4. Great drink list and the service was top notch. You will like the food don’t skip this place.
Always bomb AF. Not sure if a bad meal is possible here.
What a fabulous experience! Rarely do you find a restaurant with such flavorful and unique dishes that cannot be imitated or duplicated anywhere else. Every single thing was spectacular: shrimp buns, Bangkok noodles, buckwheat noodles with crab, oysters, wings, pikapika and ginger smash.. everything!
And best happy Hour I’ve ever been to!
And fantastic service!
The food was amazing and they went out of their way to accommodate gluten free dairy free dietary restrictions
Great food and service. We arrived during happy hour and were able to enjoy inexpensive and good house wine.
Excellent!! Service is just about the best in the city, food is as interesting as it gets in the city...the roasted pork was perfect and the desserts are formidable.....highly recommend!!
Highly recommend Maypop - great atmosphere, innovative menu, accommodating staff. Has a NYC vibe while being comfortable and relaxed. Geaux Maypop!
Amazing combination of spices & condiments make up each dish. Don’t go there without ordering dim sum calamari on the weekend, best is US! Our server was over the top attentive. Coming back before we leave the city.
I have eaten here on multiple occasions and it does not disappoint. Staff is very good and attentive and the food is a blessing to the palate.
Fantastic service. Outstanding food. Perfect for my business lunch.
My lunch was tasty. The server was prompt, courteous and friendly.
A gem. Appetizers, entrees, cocktails and dessert were all well-balanced, flavorful and delicious.
The food is absolutely delicious and unique. The chef really knows how to create memorable flavors.
Our server was delightful and extremely professional. She was knowledgeable about the wines we ordered and made some very helpful suggestions about the menu. Our dinner was absolutely delicious and I would highly recommend Maypop to anyone!
This place always amazes, whether it’s a $5 glass of happy hour wine with an appetizer off their special menu, lunch or a full on dinner extravaganza, they get it right every time. Staff is super knowledgeable and personable without acting like they’re part of your group. They refill your wine glass like ninjas! You didn’t even see them do it. They make honest recommendations and help guide you through a menu most folks would be unfamiliar with. Truly a destination restaurant.
Im from Canada and i traveled to new orleans for only 6 days, me and my squad went twice at this restaurant!! Soooo tasty and so good! When i left to go back to montreal Canada i had some friends still in New Orleans asking if i knew a good restaurant and i recommended them to go to Maypop.
Delicious, great service and excellent ambience.
The flavor profiles are exotic and heavenly. If your palate is mature or you wish to educate it as to the finer things in life, this is definitely the school in which it should be enrolled. By the way, please order the bread service: amazing! The duck liver boudin balls are extraordinary and the sloe slow-roasted pork shoulder is orgasmic.
Just amazing in every way.
Lovely evening. Will return.
One of the best meals I have ever had.
It was my date’s first time and he enjoyed it. Our waiter was knowledgeable and we sent our compliments to the chef.
Amazing food, great experience! A little bummed we were seated at the bar and not a table but honestly the flavor explosion made up for it.
My husband & I have been twice & the good has been perfect every time. We split one dish from each section (snack, starter, noodle, & entree) & it's more than enough! The ambiance is perfect for a date night.
Our server, Nicole (hope the spelling is correct) was very attentive and personable! She offered very helpful feedback/descriptions that helped us to make great choices! The food was very enjoyable! It was my/our first visit, but will not be our last!!
Kind of pricey for serving sizes
Love the ever changing menu. Happy hour offered a small but creative menu with drink specials. Food was phenomenal as usual. Restaurant was empty on a Tuesday afternoon , other than that great atmosphere.
3 times visited in 3 weeks. Excellent food, thanks again
Best restaurant in NOLA! The food is unique and delicious, service is perfect with incredible bartending staf.. Go there every time I am New Orleans and it is always what it is. Love it.
I would say that this is a highly experimental dining venue. They are trying to fuse several types of food (asian, french, italian) and some of it is ok, but some of it isn't. Do not try the duck pate. It's awful.
Always creative, very well prepared food. Really enjoy what they do and the space. Cocktails always great as well! Highly recommend it.
My boyfriend and I were visiting from out of town and this was a nice change of pace from the other restaurants we ate at. We both got noodle dishes and fried oysters to begin. Everything was delicious! Honestly, I'm still thinking about how good the Maypop pie was.
