We are card carrying fans of Maynards, and have been there several times. It was a special dinner, meeting our son's girlfriend for the first time and we wanted to impress! It's a great room, and we love trains. We live in Paris, France, and have a residence here. But we felt that Maynard's had lost a step. When my wife asked for some bread she was told, "no bread." To a French person that is shocking. Our waitress suggested the focaccia, which we ordered. Which was fine but that aint bread in our book. The wine list I found...odd. Hugely overpriced which is OK but c'mon, offer some more inexpensive options. I ordered a bottle of the Mexican chardonnay, tasted it. No bueno. My wife tasted it. No bueno. So we sent it back. And to replace it we have to upgrade to a $78 bottle of Sonoma Chardonnay. It was excellent, or was it just...really good. It was a huge relief after the Mexican chardonnay, which was priced at something like $60. Not that were wine snobs living in France, but you can get fantastic bottles almost anywhere for 35-60€. on the Maynard's wine list last night there was just no room to order anything decent at a reasonable price. Move up from that $78 bottle of Chardonnay and you're over a hundred dollars? Really? And we found the portions smallish. I had the salmon with fingerling potatoes, and I think I found two or there little squiggles of potato. So...

Great Birthday celebration. Our waitress, Ale, was wonderful - very knowledgeable about wines & menu and made us feel very much at home. Two of us had short ribs - tender, flavorful & a large portion. Another had pork chop & loved it. Lobster confit appetizer intrigued everybody so we ordered 1 order as an appetizer. I had it as a my entree along with mac & cheese & combined the two. Great way to prepare lobster since confit method resulted in very tender lobster. Definitely a diet breaker but worth it. Churros w/whipped cream for dessert. Perfect end to a great meal.

Fantastic experience at Maynard’s. Shared the lobster pot starter and then had the short ribs and salmon. Both were delicious.

We were surprised by the very limited menu choices. It’s been a year since we ate at Maynard’s and we anticipated a much larger menu.

The food was excellent. Apparently it was one of the final nights for the winter menu. The beef and the lamb stew were outstanding. Dessert and cocktails were first rate. Our server, Rachel, was good. Sadly, we waited an inordinate amount of time before being served. It’s a nice spot and a good alternative to other places Tucson has to offer. Recommend.
