    I always love Maynard's food and service, and typically the ambiance. But we ended up in the upstairs dining room. I understand that the downstairs is much more desirable and a lovely atmosphere, so of course seating there is best. My suggestion is that I wish you could find a way to let your customers know you are going to seat them there. Because if I knew that, I would have booked another restaurant and come back to Maynards when I could sit in the main restaurant. Also, I would think there's a way to make the upstairs a bit more appealing, and not the feel of a small cafeteria. Btw, Our servicer did a great job, probably over and above, as she knew we were disappointed.

    Excellent craft cocktails. Fall Menu reflects chef’s family influences. Lamb stew with Guinness was rich and flavorful. Plantain ravioli showed off flavors from chef’s Dominican Republic roots. Salmon was perfect for dairy free diner. Maynard’s involving in a positive direction!

    My out of town friends really enjoyed the entire experience. Service was very good. Food was very good and the ambience is quite nice. I will definitely return in the future

    Our experience was perfect in every way. We were greeted and seated in the amazing space quickly and warmly by the hostess. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about all the dishes. The food was a masterpiece. This was a new menu, we were told, by a nice, nondescript gentleman in a polo and trainers who stopped at our table halfway through our main plate to check on us. The craft cocktails were delicious. For appetizer, my husband had the beef tartare and I had the lobster pot. The portions were huge and both were expertly prepared and magical. Dinner for me was the short rib with parsnip puree. Husband had the lamb stew. The parsnip puree was excellent with a beautiful herby licorice accent like tarragon or fennel and the short rib was in a rich, glossy sauce with a clear, sweet wine tinge. Husband's lamb and Guinness stew was fresh and herb forward, too (I secretly liked it more than mine). Both were amazing. Dessert (it was my birthday and they just brought it) was a fresh churro for two over thick, spiced whipped cream. It was a dream night. Later, we googled the nice gentleman, Richard, who checked on us. He was none other than the owner, Richard Oseran, locally famous restauranteur and owner of the cultural hub Hotel Congress. He and his wife Shana opened Maynards in the historic train depot in 2008. I wish I had known who he was before he dropped in on us, his family has history in Tucson dating back 3 generations and he himself, in a previous part of his life, argued a landmark case before the United States supreme court. Oh the questions I could have asked him. We will surely be back for more of everything. If we don't see him again, the food, the atmosphere, and the staff will be more consolation than we probably deserve.

    Maynard's introduced a new menu last week and by chance I was there the week before. The new menu was outstanding. I had the lobster pot followed by the steak tartar. The lobster pot was a killer presentation and like something I have never had before! I followed with steak tartar, which was a perfect example of the old standard. My wife had the salmon and it was delicious!

    While we had a reservation and the restaurant was not too busy, it took nearly 2 hours for us to complete our visit. From ordering until the time our food was brought to us was nearly 50 minutes.

    We were just out for dinner & dined here prior but this was a sad experience . Nice place downtown & the occasional passing train adds to the ambiance; however, apparently not enough waitpersons. Server was awesome but it took a long long time for our food to arrive. Wife ordered the pork chop & thought it was not cooked so sent back. Kitchen replied it was only the tendon or bone as they cooked it to temperature. Wife ate other side & when she cut into the area that was of prior concern she told me it was raw & not bone/tendon. I put some light on it & she was correct. We had waited long enough & our son needed to go back to base so we chose to leave. Definitely has not kept up with Maynard’s we knew from before.

    The wait staff and kitchen did an outstanding job dealing with our two food allergies after we informed them. It is interesting that the hostess knew about our allergies thru Open Table but she did not inform the wait staff. We felt that the menu selections were limited. The drink menu offered many good choices including mock tails. The drink order and food order took much longer than expected. We felt that the salmon was undercooked and the pork chop was over cooked and very tough. It needed a steak knife to cut, which was not provided but left on the table from the focaccia first course. The portion size on the other first course, the beef tartare, was very large. There were not enough crostini to eat it with. It was tasty though. We used some of the focaccia first course that was huge and also tasty. Overall we felt that despite the slow pace of food coming out of the bar and kitchen, and the undercooked/overcooked entrees, this was a pleasant experience. We did think it was significantly over priced.

    We had the plantain and mushroom ravioli. It was outstanding. So much flavor. I highly recommend. Our server was excellent. We really enjoyed the atmosphere.

    We sat outside - the weather was nice, but be prepared for a LOT of noise from the trains! The food was good, but portions were small. The appetizers (brussels sprouts and mac n cheese) were just OK. The sea bass was nice, if a little dry. My friend got short ribs, which were very fatty. Service was WEIRD! Our server had no sense of timing, and we all felt nervous every time she came to our table! Plates were delivered while one perseon was away from the table, and attempted to be removed while we were still eating. For the price and the reputation, I would expect a lot more.

    The food was phenomenal at Maynards. We eat at a lot of nice places and this food stands out. We had the short rib and fish and would order them again and again. The service is always attentitive and they always ensure we are happy with our experience. Highly recommend.

    We’ve loved Maynard’s since it opened, mainly because of the cozy atmosphere inside. However, it has always had service problems. Now, the menu is just too limited. We had scallops (me) & sea bass (my husband). Both were very good, although mine had “gnocchis” that were made from polenta. They were too big and too tough! A lighter, creamy polenta would be much better. Service was not good. It’s a nice restaurant. We felt rushed to order quickly by the server. Overall, it was not a fine dining experience and I think we’ll give up on Maynard’s.

    We sat outside for the first time. It was nice, despite the passing trains (which is part of the old station ambiance). The dishes at our table were sea bass, pasta and scallops. All were excellent and well prepared. The Focaccia appetizer is a definite keeper! The server was very pleasant, but could have been a bit more attentive at times. The overall service was a bit slow.

    Great food, fun vibe, very helpful staff. Started in the bar, had wine and a yummy cocktail. Moved to the patio for the feast. The weather was perfect outside as was the service. Yes, trains do come by, but we knew that and it just added to the ambience. Wonderful evening (get the scallops or the short ribs, just saying).
