Good ambiance and great food!!
Our favorite neighborhood spot. They treat us like valued patrons and we love it!
We had the rib eye special and the steak was perfect. Great cut, cooked exactly as ordered, and really delicious. Great cocktails and service. My only negative is the noise level is pretty high making conversation a little difficult at times.
Requested a table in the alcove next to the bar in the front of the house
When we got to the restaurant, our request had gone unnoticed. But after a few minutes the staff was able to get us a table in the alcove
As this was a business dinner, having a quieter table on a busy Friday night was important to us..and it was the reason we picked Maybeck’s
Terrible service but the food made up for it.
This place was amazing!!!! A must if your in San Francisco. The chef was walking around pouring wine and saying hi to everyone. What other restaurant does that? And the food is absolutely the best! Run don’t walk.
I would normally give Maybeck's a five, but the service was, frankly, mediocre and not up to the standards of a "fine dining"restaurant. Perhaps it was short-handed, but definitely not up to prior experiences at one of my favorite restaurants in SF.
This is a great neighborhood restaurant on the corner of Scott and Lombard in the Marina district. From the outside it is unassuming but the inside is charming, lively, and inviting. We had the Skirt Steak and one of the pastas. Both great. The dessert of molten lava cake and ice cream was the best. The wait staff knew the menu well, gave great service and one of the chefs came to our table to explain the menu and deliver our wine. Overall a great evening. Highly recommended.
It was very nice
I must compliment your chefs on the cuisine....
we thoroughly enjoyed the steak tartare and the beef wellington, very delicious!!
We arrived in time to watch the chef's presentation on the preparation of this fabulous entree. We then went back to our table and ordered our food. Our server came back after we enjoyed our appetizers and informed us that she cannot fulfil 2 or our 8 orders for the beef wellington. We were so disappointed, it turned out that 4 of us had to split 2 orders. I was not only disappointed but truly embarrassed as I had invited my friends to dine at Maybeck's for Beef Wellington night. I truly raved about the wellington.
Not a good night for us and definitely not your restaurant's reputation.
Great little local spot, nice bar, great bartender and nice atmosphere.
There were not many options for vegetarian and vegan.
Amazing! Having so many options in San Francisco this is a must try! Can’t find a better place in San Francisco!
We loved the neighborhood location of Maybeck’s. Many local people hangout there. We came for the Beef Wellington that was absolutely delicious! At 7:00 the chef does a special slicing of the Wellington and the history too! The service was perfect!
Sat at the bar and still had to wait an exceptionally
long time, to be acknowledged and then to be served. I should’ve known though - other reviews complained about the same thing. Also the lady next to me ordered a salad that had to be remade b/c it was given to another table.
I guess having an “off” night is actually a pattern.
What an unexpected surprise! We had not heard much about this place. My husband found it in looking for something close to our hotel. Turns out they have great specials every night and lucky for us Tuesday night was local prix fixe night ! Three courses for $40 plus wine pairing for the first two courses only $15! The food was amazing and the pairing well done - even my Somm husband liked it . Service was excellent and for our last course the chef came out to chat and both he and our waitress brought us something to go with our dessert - not giving every thing away here - you’ll have to try for yourself - this place is a hidden gem so get there before it’s not so hidden anymore!
The place seems to be searching for an identity m, and has lost its way. My Caesar’s salad was the worst version of this salad I’ve honestly ever had. It was extremely vinegary. The pasta and Italian tomato sauce was insipid. Needed some spices and herbs such as pepper flakes, rosemary, and/or oregano. Some fresh basil would have been nice. The ice cream tray was the highlight of the meal. Service was good, but seemed short staffed. My martini was somehow off. I was very disappointed, and would not recommend this restaurant.
My son and I wanted a great dinner to celebrate his work accomplishments and chose Maybecks. We were not disappointed.
It was great
Wellington Wednesday’s is ALWAYS a great meal! Great ambiance. Outstanding service! This place is very consistent with all they have to offer! I recommend this restaurant to people all the time.
The Tuesday Special is out of this world and a must try. Always fresh and new!
We went to Maybecks for my boyfriends birthday, needless to say we were put in a separate room to enjoy with our 6 other friends. We loved the ambiance, the starters and drinks so much that we may have overindulged just a little too much. The staff was friendly and attentive and catered to the birthday nicely. Overall it was a great evening and I highly recommend you celebrate there! I know we’ll be back.
Not a huge menu but exceptional quality for a neighborhood place. Specials of heirloom tomatoes with burrata and a beef wellington were exceptional. Comfortable and not too noisy. Decent wine list and good drinks.
We had never eaten st Maybecks before and had no expectations beyond noting it had good reviews. We were totally delighted by our exoerience last Wednesday night! Evidently there are different events for some weeknights and Wednesday was beef wellington night, and though we had not planned to order it we were there in time (7:00) for the ceremonial slicing when all interested could gather in the kitchen to hear the chef talk about the history of the dish, how it is prepared and then the dish, a full filet of beef, is sliced in half and splayed to show the perfectly cooked filet surrounded by mushroom duxelles and crisp puff pastry! It was a thing of beauty and we immediately decided to order it. We enjoyed every tender bite! The member of our part who did not eat beef ordered salmon which he said was also incredibly good. The service was friendly and professional so the whole meal was a win-win and we will be back!
Food is excellent! We had the steak Wellington on Wednesday only.,Service good.
Try the house made brandy black cherry gelato, it’s out of this world !!
Server was nice. Nothing special at this restaurant. However, light jazz music in the background was nice.
Wednesday night is their Beef Wellington special. We thoroughly enjoy this rare treat. Everyone who orders this dish is called into the kitchen at 7:00 where the chef talks about the preparation, and makes the first slice: not to be missed.
Drinks from the bar are beautifully made, and the wine list has ample choices. Desserts are perfection. Although they were very busy, our server was efficient and friendly. We had reservations, and were seated within a few minutes, even though we were a little early.
Friendly comfortable neighborhood restaurant. Chef / Owners Eric & Aaron we’re very friendly and welcoming. Hamachi on crispy forbidden rice were delicious and amazing pre dinner morsels. Grilled Spanish octopus was prepared perfectly, and the Wellington Wednesday special was delightful. My husband and I also enjoyed the the Beef Wellington chefs presentation by Chef Michael. Unfortunately no room for dessert!
Neighborhood gem. Great cocktails and food.a restaurant where you can eat, drink and actually hear your dining companions!!!Beef Wellington and Fried chicken are our favorites.
All six of us attended the Wednesday night Beef Wellington special. We all love the dish and the beef is very tender. The bread crust and the mushroom filling have a wonderful balance with the beef. We also ordered the brass fish and it was freshly prepared.
Go for the Special Locals’ Night Menu on Tuesday! Best value in town!
Excellent service and the food was wonderful.
They did some special things since I could not have sauces and cooked everything as requested.
Very good food. The servings are generous. A pasta can be nicely shared as a first course. The desserts are delicious: marinated fresh cherries over vanilla gelato.
The bar is very big and Inviting. It promises to be a Marina hub for get togethers.
The chefs work the dining room asking the patrons how they like the food. It seems to be a very well run restaurant.
Great little neighborhood bistro. They offer a very affordable prix fixe menu. When back twice on our short San Francisco trip! 🤗
Unfortunately, we hit a bad night, apparently, since we've had ok experiences in the past. Server (not ours) dropped and broke a glass under our feet, didn't apologize, and we had to twice ask to have glass shards picked up. Table next to us, arrived after we did, was eating before we ordered. Much louder than usual, as well. Recommendation based on good food and previous experiences, but we are going to be wary in the future.
A wonderful neighborhood restaurant. Great food. Wonderful drinks and specials. Beef Wellington on Wednesday was the best I've every had.
Go for Tuesday Night Local Special it’s amazing and the best deal in SF!
Great steak tartare and chopped salad
Was a very quiet holiday weekend....but the food quality and service were not compromised.
Every single time you go to Maybeck’s you will feel like you are eating at home. A must try for locals and tourists alike!
