I had lunch with my brother. This is my neighborhood gem. I love the place because the food is great. There is a small staff and everything is made to order, but it is worth any wait!
Fabulous meal. Very Tasty. Highly recommend.
Best Latin restaurant in town. Great and varied menu, great mojitos. Especially enjoyed the Sopa Azteca.
menu good, service was good. would def go back. good ti,e
One of the g st meals I've had in a long time. Not only was Mojito picked fresh, the Shrimp and Crab Cerviche was as impressive a presentation as it was delicious. My friends and I had a terrific time.
Absolutely delicious. Everyone in our party of 6 enjoyed their food and drinks and want to come back. We absolutely will return. Top notch.
Mayas is one of my favorite places to dine in NOLA. There are new items on the menu that I am very pleased to try. For example, I had Steak Guajillo (e.g., ribeye) and it was great.
Wonderful food and service. A little slow like everywhere else due to not enough staff but again this is everywhere right now! Definitely worth the wait.
Enjoyed the mahi and softshell crab. Service was great. The guy who brought chips had a great personality
A really great selection for New Years Even dinner and very fairly priced. The two female servers were friendly, attentive and running their socks off to serve the whole restaurant. The bartender was struggling to keep up as was their table helper young boy, but both were trying hard.
My Ribeye steak over mash with jumbo prawns was about as tasty and good value for money as anywhere you will find in the whole city. At $30 it is a monster delicious meal. And the tres leches dessert cake was melt in the mouth delicious.
The cocktails were really delicious and innovative. The food was amazing very fresh and well presented. The Mahi Mahi with curry sauce was divine. They were very short staffed but everyone was doing their best to serve us. They were friendly and smiling despite being swamped. Will definitely return.
If you are in New Orleans, stop in at eat at Maya's! All of the food and desserts we had there were the best food we have ever tasted. The presentation was awesome but also there was ample amount of food in each dish. The service was absolutely excellent. My family will definitely be back the next time we stop in New Orleans.
We came here on Christmas night 2021 after flying in from New Jersey. The food was excellent, as was the ambience. Our service was slow, but that' probably because of COVID and the holiday. We had a very enjoyable meal, and it was good to start a trip to NOLA with delicious pan-Latin food.
If you are in NOLA and want a break from the endless Cajun food / crawfish / oysters, then Mayas is perfect.
If Ur a Ceviche’ fan DON’T leave here w/o enjoying the crab it’s definitely among the Top 5 Ceviche’ dishes I’ve ever enjoyed - coast to coast, North, South & Central Americas included…
The paella dish left me wanting more taste, it was still good just not as much flavor as I’d anticipated & prefer…
Drinks were unique & excellent as well…
We’ll definitely be back…!!!
Instead of cooking Christmas dinner, we decided to dine out. I did a quick search to see who was accepting reservations on Christmas day (that wasn't attached to some big hotel charging $100 a plate), and saw that Mayas was going to be open. This place has been on my list of places for a while now, and I figured now was a good time to go.
This restaurant smelled amazing soon as we opened the door, the decor is lovely, I'm really into to the art they have displayed. The Christmas decor was really pretty, too. We were enthusiastically greeted, checked for our Vax card, and seated. The server we had was very knowledgeable, really nice, and professional.
Now, the food.... everything we had, from the complimentary chips and salsa to the entrées was delicious. Their salsa isn't a traditional tomato salsa, it's a sweet and spicy mango salsa that has a similar flavor profile to the dipping sauce often served with pot stickers in Asian restaurants. It's so good, they really should bottle it up and sell it.
We ordered the black bean and chorizo empanadas, let me tell you these are the best empanadas I've had in years. I used to buy my empanadas from a sweet El Salvadoran lady daily on my way to culinary school years ago, and aside from hers the ones at Mayas are the best. I had the Jamaican curried shrimp, and my daughter ordered the grilled chicken with black beans and rice with mango salsa, both meals were delicious. The servings were large, I ate all of my shrimp but couldn't finish the rice and veggies. My daughter took her meal home as leftovers she could have for lunch the next day.
I don't normally condone texting at the table during meal time, but I made an exception during this meal, because the food was so good I was texting my best friend about it and sending her pictures. We'll definitely be back. I highly recommend this restaurant. Make reservations, wear your mask, and bring your vaccine card. They are following city guidelines.
awesome empanada's and service
Absolutely loved this place. Took my family here for a Christmas meal and was so glad I did. The ambiance was great (beautifully decorated), the staff were friendly and competant - and the food did not disappoint! The ceviche which was a different and delicious take on it. The food and drinks were great - price was reasonable.
Great food and service. The spinach empanadas made me an instant empanada fan. Lovely staff. Terrific value
Always delicious and we never leave hungry.
Food is amazing!
I almost don’t want to tell how amazing this place is so I’ll be able to come back next time I’m in Nola. We don’t live but about an hour from here but came for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary and I wanted something different for dinner than the normal overrated seafood / Cajun cooking. Boy did this place surprise me! I thought it would be a bigger place or more of a chain restaurant but it is definitely not that.
The authentic Latin cuisine they had to offer was some of the best food I have ever eaten in my life. From the spicy watermelon margaritas, to the ceviche and calamari appetizers to the shrimp red curry to the streak guajillo, everything was absolutely perfect and so delicious!
The staff were all pleasant and helpful and it was just the perfect place to go in New Orleans for something out of your typical tourist places . We will most definitely be back !
I would highly recommend, everything we ordered was fabulous.
The food was excellent. Really excellent. The server was not aware of the dietary restrictions and unable to let me know which items were gluten free, confusing dairy with gluten.
Mayas is one of my favorite places in the city. The food is great and the staff are excellent. One of the things I like the most about Mayas is that it appears to be off the main trail of places to dine. The Latinx fusion is also great. I have never had a bad meal there!
Great Food! Reservations a must to get a table. Restaurant was very busy and our server did a great job. Constant line at the door.
My reservation was at 6, showed up at 5:45. Service was weak, entrees arrived around 7:45. Don’t understand the love. Won’t be back.
Had dinner at Maya’s on Thanksgiving. What an excellent choice! I haven’t been to Maya’s in years and everything was so upgraded from before.. super busy but really nice service and delicious food. The Chilean Sea Bass was amazing!
Really delicious food at a reasonable price with very friendly service. We appreciated that the waitress advised us we were ordering too much food!
My husband and I were missing Cuban food so we made reservations at this restaurant . Not what I was expecting. As a Hispanic person, I’ve never ever had sweet Congri(black bean and rice). The rice and beans was extremely sweet and also the steak. Steak is suppose to be thin and long. This was a thick cut and not tender. The yucca was hard , the tostones refried. The only good thing was the water. Oblivious to My husband and I leaving our entire meal and refusing to box it and take it with us, the Waitress As we were leaving started reciting the hours of operation. Worst restaurant that I’ve been to.
This is one place in New Orleans we return to over and over again. The food and service are always so great. Love the margaritas!
Amazing food! Great portions and variety! Excellent service!
Always a great dining experience. Becoming one of my all time favs.
Great service and food!
We enjoyed Mayas, was our first time there. Not the food we normally eat but went to eat something different. Was very good. The atmosphere is quaint and the people are kind and polite . We will go again!!
We went for Christmas lunch. Food is amazing!
Every time I visit Mayas the food is amazing! I highly recommend this place!
Loved the three empanadas we tried! Great server, too.
Great food, creative Cuisine , excellent service , Great Value
Made the reservation and got confirmation online only to walk to the restaurant and find it closed with a sign saying they had closed due to an emergency but would be open for dinner (our reservation was for dinner, at 8pm)... Really disappointed that even if they had to close for an emergency they didnt take the time to inform the people that made reservations.
