Maya Beaver Creek Ratings and Reviews
Over the past five years we keep trying this restaurant. The ambiance, cocktails are very good, the guacamole is OK but it's downhill from there. The appetizers and entrees are always disappointing. We are not sure why it's so difficult to make fresh, healthy Mexican food that taste good. I got the Mahi tacos and if I was not so hungry I probably would not have eaten them. My daughter who is a vegetarian ordered the vegetarian enchilada and only took one bite. My son and his friends ordered various types of tacos and said they were all bad. Even the dessert churros were burnt. I don't understand, you are in a nice hotel and and a nice atmosphere, why can't you make great food? Do you ever notice how empty the restaurant is?
Waitress was really really good . Staff bringing food was marginal. Gentlemen flipped one of my meat pieces back on plate and then had his hands 1/2” from food explaining stuff .
Tableside was great but small portion (expensive for amount). Carne Asada despite being touched by the staff during serving. Margarita was average, tacos were sub-par (ordered no beans and they came extra beans). Flan was decent but different (firm vs expected flan form), the deep fried ice cream was great.
Again average for price but the wait person (forget her name ) was really really good.
We went for NYE and had the 6 course dinner they were offering. The food was excellent. The dishes were creative, beautiful and delicious. The staff was great with my kids and got them NYE hats and necklaces. The kids had a buffet available to them with kids food. It was a good set up. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and has a beautiful bar.
First I want to say that my family and I have had dinner at this restaurant on several occasions over the years and have loved it; and this time their quality and service has significantly decreased from our passed experiences. My husband and I had dinner here in the off season; so the restaurant wasn't too busy. In general our date night was completely rushed by the wait service. They served our entrees while we had just started to eat the appetizer. We even had asked to wait to order our entrees because of this; but the waiter pressured us into ordering (coming by three times to ask). The food was just mediocre and felt overpriced. Husband got brisket tacos; which were soggy and fell apart. I had the shrimp enchilada which was just average (I've had better elsewhere). The enchiladas didn't really have chunks of shrimp or crab (it seemed really blended down to a pulp). But our enteees actually got cold since they served them so early. Finally for dessert they only had one of the four options available. We were having dinner at 7pm on a Saturday night; so why things were already sold out is beyond me. In regards to beverages, we thought the margaritas were a little sweet for us (I dont think they do fresh lime juice). If you like sweeter margaritas; they are probably fine. Our tab for two people was $150 and honestly we walked away feeling ripped off. Again we've been to this restaurant several times and we both felt all aspects of the restaurant have declined.
Six of us came for dinner. The cuisine is more nouvelle Mexican, and we thought it would be more traditional Mexican. The chips & salsa were delicious, as was the guacamole (made at the table). The rest of dinner was not special, although folks who want something more modern in their food may be more appreciative. The wait staff was friendly, prompt and attentive.
The tequila selection is outstanding, and the tequila flights are the best value. All food options we ordered were excellent on taste, and like most upscale restaurants you have to know how to order, as entrees are on the smallish side, so you get a side and that is large and can be shared.
Service was good, short rib tacos placed on a slab of wood in taco holder, taco juices leaked all over the table, lack of common sense, more concerned with presentation, I was not the first person to complain about this. Beet salad was served with too much dressing had to return it. Chicken tortilla lacked chicken. Churro dessert was excellent with dipping sauces.
The service, food and cocktails were great!! We loved the outdoor seating that made for enjoyment of the great views. Great menu with lots to choice from. The cocktails were really good and original. Specifically the Maya margarita was one of the best I have had in a long time. Lastly, the service was very good and the staff did everything they could to make our special occasion (anniversary) enjoyable and memorable for both my wife and I. The staff went the extra mile to acknowledge our anniversary with free drinks and dessert. They even moved our reservation 45 minutes to allow us to enjoy the deck without the afternoon sunlight and heat. Overall, this was a great experience and I will have no issues coming back to the Maya or recommend it to my family and friends!! Thank you for a great experience!!

My husband and I had such a great dinner at the Maya. We order the Brisket in Mole and the Brisket Tacos which were excellent. Logan, our server, was outstanding. We ordered the guacamole which was made by Carlos right at our table. He even asked us how we would like it prepared. It also was excellent. We went on Jazz night which was an added plus. The restaurant is located in the beautiful Westin. There is outside seating too with beautiful views. I would recommend this restaurant.
Much improved. We live in the area and come here periodically. They got off to a bad culinary start but have been getting steadily better to the point where they are now a very acceptable choice to go to for an enjoyable dinner. Somewhat "faux -mexican" but they make it work with a variety of interesting dishes. Well worth an evening out.
We have dined at Maya a number of times in past while staying at Westin & have previously enjoyed. This time not so--menu recently changed & much more limited with some of our favorites removed. Menu is not up to date on Open Table. Prices increased with less choice. Ambience did not seem the same or as nice. Also service not quite attentive. We will not be back. Much better options now in Avon & Vail.
The service was seriously lacking. It took 15 minutes for our server to stop at our table after we were seated (the hostess did bring chips and got our drink order, so that was great). After that the service was just extremely slow. The waiter was lacking any sort of enthusiasm and hardly checked back after the food was delivered. For paying a decent amount of money for a meal, I expected good service but was disappointed. The food and drinks were excellent, so I will give them that. Overall not a wonderful experience.
Would definitely return!!!! Healthy good food. The view of beaver creek mountain from the deck is so beautiful. The service was good. Magi tacos are well priced and delicious. Guacamole made at the table and seasoned how you like is always special. Parking is free when restaurant validates
Another wonderful dinner with the Maya staff. Everyone was helpful and very accommodating to other diners needs as the restaurant filled up rather quickly. The food was superb. Margaritas by the pitcher we're fabulous. Thanks to Bobby for execelant service.
Our waiters name was Brian and he was EXCELLENT and Friendly not checking on us too often which was perfect as we were on a date! When he saw we needed a refill or a tray taken away he was right on it like a ninja haha. OH! AND, I had to move my reservation to a little later and was treated very kindly even though it was unexpected, some places really make you feel bad and Maya was not one of them! We can't wait to visit again! A new regular date tradition! THANKS CREW YOU ALL ARE ROCKSTARS!!!!
Food as always was very good and reasonably priced. Service on this particular trip was very poor, an anomaly for the many visits we've made to this restaurant. Apparently they had new staff, but were inadequately trained in better dining. We'll try 'em again to see if things improve.
Chips and salsa to start-chips were not tasty, Guacamole was bland and we asked for more salt but still not exciting. Two orders were messed up but corrected. The bill was also incorrect but was also corrected. It was not a busy night either. I had chicken which was tasty. Cauliflower, carrots were not. Watermelon/ heirloom tomato salad: 4 squares of watermelon , 4 small tomato halves which were very hard and tart. Bridketvtacosxwere enjoyed. We did not order dessert. We did have margaritas which were standard to me. Great patio and views-food ok but was expecting much better.
We have been coming here since the Westin Riverfront opened. Before Maya, it was Avondale. Maya recently changed their menu to be very limited. We missed the old items that were on there. (Chicken with Mole.) They are all about brisket now and they don't even make it that well! Some of Richard Sandoval's restaurants are closing, I wonder if Maya will be next? Service was terrible when we were there the other day. Our waiter never came to ask us how our food was, never offered us chips and salsa, and we had to find someone else to ask for the check. If you're getting an enchilada, rice and beans should not be an extra charge. This is the only place I know that charges for rice and beans.
Very disappointing meal. The special steak and shrimp tacos were 3 tiny, and not tasty bites. Should not be considered an entree and no bargain for $19.00. The seafood enchiladas were $25.00. No sides. No more tuna tartare with the guacamole. Not much more to say. Used to love this place. Went Downhill.
