We had a 6pm reservation, ordered right away, and didn’t receive our appetizer until after 7pm and the main until 730. A second drink took 40 mins and didn’t arrive until after the main was finished.
Our server was good, apologized frequently, and said everyone was experiencing the same delay.
The food was mediocre and what you would expect from a slammed and understaffed kitchen.
I’ll continue to take clients and colleagues to the Skybar, but definitely Maxx’s kitchen.
Had an excellent meal and excellent service at this restaurant! Was an awesome fine dining experience!
Terrible experience yesterday night. We waited for 25 minutes for our order to to be taken and then 55 minutrs for the food to arrive. We ordered soup, salad, and a burger - not rocket science food choices. People who came after us were taken care off, had their food, and left but my husband's burger still hadn't arrived after 55 minutes of order. He cancelled the order and then the server walked over with it. He told her to take it back.
The manager came and told us that he would take care of the bill. Totally incompetent serving staff who prioritize certain guests over others. We will defintely NOT be going back.
It is a lovely location and we sat outside overlooking the lake. It is actually quieter outside than inside. Our server, Jessica was wonderful but the kitchen obviously could not keep up with the volume of customers pre concert. We would go back for sure but leave ourselves a lot of time if we’re heading to Ontario place.
It’s a lovely venue and great food just incredibly noisy in a loud, kitchen racket kind of way.
A hidden gem, a keeper, a
Little pricey but a great treat once and a while
Hotel phone staff should be clearer about what can or can’t be reserved. Also should be clearer about what the venues are in the hotel - very confusing on phone. Eventually took our chances with open table since hotel was not very helpful. Veal sandwich disappointing although signature dish. Hamburger good. Calamari excellent. Nice views - will come back and try again
It was our first time at Maxx's. We did enjoy our food and the restaurant is quite lovely. Our waiter David was outstanding.
We sat outside on the patio as the weather was nice. When we went into the restaurant to exit, the noise level was deafening so we were glad we had sat outside.
Location is great for before an event at Ontario Place. Service is very slow. Beautiful views.
Overall our experience was good however a few notable items that I did mention to the server.
1: When making the reservation I was committed to a patio table by the gentlemen attending the phone however arriving at the restaurant we were not given this option as the patio was full.
2: When serving an additional bottle of wine to the table the server should always have the customer taste the wine prior to adding it to the prior wine in the glass.
3: The finish of my Lamp Chops and my wife's Strip Loin were both incorrect. I ordered Med Rare for the Lamp and received Well Done and my wife ordered Medium for her Steak and received Medium Rare
Our lead server Konrad was very good and certainly means we will return for a future visit.
Overall hotel ambience is modern corporate with boutique touches:
lots of glass and black with pops of colour and plush textures.
Falcon Skybar boasts a spectacular wrap around view of both the city and the water. Spend happy hour watching small aircraft at Billy Bishop airport. Drinks are pricey but worth it for the view. Service is very polished but lacks attention during peak times..staff friendliness helps you grin and bear the wait for drinks. Ensure to bring a sweater if seated outdoors. If staying inside....the noise does become difficult to swallow as things get busy.
Maxx’s kitchen is upscale casual with lots of windows framing a view of Ontario place. The balcony patio over looks the front entrance driveway but once seated your view is more of the waterfront than pavement.
Service was Excellent - our top-notch server Veronica was prompt, professional, politely engaging and knew the menu (her suggested wine pairings were great). Our terrific meal reflected the hotel - corporate with boutique flourishes: squash salad of acorn rather than butternut, with fresh arugula..pumpkin seed garnish and fennel were nice touches. Correctly executed Cornish hen main was moist and flavourful.
Definitely will return before the secret is out on the great service and wonderful view.
Wonderful spot for a late lunch. The hotel is magnificent as well
I would recommend the resto for the desserts. You have an outstanding pastry chef. But it was too cold in the dining room. The chilly air might be welcome when the temps are in the 30°s but on Father's Day , we were cold. I kept my jacket on throughout... food should be enjoyed in pleasant temperatures, not in a chilly breeze.
Very pleasant servers..
It might be wise t have more signage from the parking lot.. we were puzzled as to direction..
We felt like family:)
Really pretty inside, food was well done... oh but the service. Somehow they didn’t account for the Budweiser stage events of the evening, and were waaaay understaffed it seemed. They were friendly enough about it, but, it was hard to get their attention. I would definitely give this place another chance but I would just recommend that they pay more attention to the events going on in proximity to their location.
Food and cocktails were fabulous... service was a little slow. They will need to figure out how to service the pre-concert crowd.
Fantastic food, service and patio views!
We had reservations for dinner. It’s a very casual spot. Food was fresh. I ordered one of the their specialty dishes which was also recommended by the waitress. The veal sandwich was the best I’ve had. Looking forward to going back to Maxx’s
Maxx’s Kitchen is located inside the Hotel X. The restaurant is bright and airy. They have a patio with views of the lake. I went for brunch and ordered the cheesecake Belgian waffle with a side of bacon. It was tasty and beautifully plated. The server was friendly and efficient.
Great food and service. Fast but not rushed. Server and kitchen accommodated a substitution I was looking for. Atmosphere busting but in a good way. Loved the views!
Slow service, good food.
Was my husband‘s birthday The staff were friendly and went above and beyond to please us. The food was delicious. I’m a vegan and there were options for me too
Ate dinner here prior to a concert! Food was great, service was fab & quick as they knew we were going to a concert! Nice place/atmosphere....will definitely be back!!
Great venue - would highly recommend - food was outstanding as well as the service.
Great views, great design, great food, great service. Would gladly return next time I'm in Toronto. Thoughtful modern and hip spot.
Rude waiter, seemed like we were inturruoting his night, tried to rush us out before the rush hit but nobody was coming in, only like 5 tables occupied. There was a loud talkative cook as well, seem to be a supervisor, I shouldn't be hearing your comments from our table. Overpriced but I guess you are paying for the location.
Thank you for a great Mother's day brunch! Wonderful view of the lake and happy the game was on to keep my son entertained! Wonder hostess and the waitress was attentive!
We attended Mother's Day Brunch at Maxx's Kitchen and it was delicious! The kale salad was, in particular, a treat. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant; the table and surroundings clean. I would recommend Maxx's to my friends and family without hesitation.
We went for Mother’s Day brunch. The food was decent but the service was terribly organized and just not well trained. This is purely a management problem not the staff. Delays from the time we sat down, to the lack of people available to follow up with, no consistent server, and then when we’re done eating the constant requests to top up our water. Other tables were far more upset than us and being vocal with their displeasure. It’s a relatively nice looking place and has a great view but this experiences really gives the impression of a hotel attempting to be upscale but can’t deliver.
I would absolutely recommend Maxx's Kitchen. The food and presentation were unique and very enjoyable. Loved the views too!
Nice layout of restaurant! Bright. Lots of windows over looking the lake. Food was good service was good
Excellent and attentive service. We had an early dinner with visiting out of town friends and it was our first time to dine at Macy's Kitchen, we were impressed by above all the service, ambience (awesome sweeping views of Lake Ontario) and the generous portions on our plates. The Calamari was the best! Exquisite desserts. Will definitely recommend to friends & family!
Nice location with views over the lake. Food was excellent as was the service from Lauren. Price was high (CA$80 breakfast for two) but that said, would probably go back.
I have had an email to say we missed the reservation, which clearly isn’t true, so don’t know what happened there.
We had their beef burger and Caesar salad, both great. Their sauce/dressing made them stand out. My wife is a lover and connoisseur of all things potato- and loves their fries (she brought me here after her first experience). So, food was grand - they have more refined dishes but they elevate the simple fare well.
The service was great. It was not busy when we happened to be there, but nonetheless the host, hostess and waitress were helpfully sociable and efficient.
The ambiance is fab - largely due to the whole glass wall facing the Lake gives a soothing and nice view. The fit and finish of the place, the ambiance is perfectly nice - not haughty, good for casual but brand new and clean and nice enough decor.
Felt good, looked good, tasted good. We'll be back.
Excellent wait staff, I’ve never had happier or friendlier waiters/waitress. The Decore was on point and the views of Lake Ontario spectacular.
Food is absolutely not good and way overpriced for the final product. We would not go back.
Very disappointing. Server not at all friendly, food so-so and overpriced. Really a shame because the hotel is great.
Nice place, great atmosphere and ambiance. The calamari and the artichoke dip are amazing! Ordered the fish and chips for mains but I’d recommend you pick something else instead. The fish fillets were extremely oily and heavily battered - avoid it if you can. Overall good restaurant and decent service. Don’t forget to try the $5 Mimosas on the weekend.
