Maxwell's on Main
Always an exceptional meal. My favorite place.
I was planning to be in Doylestown and googled the best Sunday brunch places. I liked the menu very much for MOM so I made a reservation. The place is really cool, love the decor, we were greeted very enthusiastically. Good first impression. Menu selection seemed great and it took a while to decide. First had the Crawfish & Crab cake for appetizer, so far so good. It had a nice flavor but could have used more of the sauce. Downhill from there. I ordered the Eggs Algiers, which is basically Eggs Benedict with Fried Green Tomatoes instead of a meat. Sounded delicious and the fried green tomatoes were VERY good. The rest of the dish was not. The eggs should have been runny so that they oozed over the FGTs went cut. They were cooked completely so really more like a hard boiled egg on top which left the dish dry and not very good. My friend had the hangar steak. It was beyond well done and too tough to really eat. He had ordered it medium/well. It was basically tough and burnt. Nothing else on his plate was appetizing either. We are both "foodies" and love trying new places and new foods. Wanted dessert but not a good selection so we went somewhere else for dessert. I honestly don't know if I would return to MOM again…nothing really makes me want to.
Food was wonderful, service was great, surprised we hadn’t found this place sooner.
Very nice experience, super clean.
We spent a lot of money on dinner for a friend’s birthday and thought we were coming out to hear live music. We didn’t know we were sitting in the live music area so we got rushed through the end of our meal because our table was in the set up space and then the band didn’t start for another 2+ hours! $300 later, I do not have a good taste in my mouth about this place.
The food was very disappointing last night. The butternut squash risotto was not edible. And I ordered a Manhattan which was overly sweet and syrupy. The service was actually better than usual though. I think we are going to take a break from MoMs for a while.
One of our favorite places to go! Great for date night or family meals.
We were very disappointed with Maxwell's being that we had been there before over a period
of almost 30 years and not been there for some time. Having said that it was a very low key
enjoyable place to dine with great food and excellent service. This place has turned into more
of a sports bar type of atmosphere with a younger crowd and a much smaller choice on the menu.
So all I can say is that we will not be returning to Maxwell's on Main.
Overall we had s great time and will be back. If I can make one suggestion foosdwould get 5 stars but very salty. Sword so salty and tuna burger very very salty. Please be mindful of the salt.
Excellent food . Excellent service !
This is our third visit to Maxwells, this time we bought friends with us it was excellent food as usual service was very good and we were treated very well coming in and we had changed our number of people joining us as well as our time we of arrival. Everyone was very professional and welcoming
There are so many places to eat in this area and Maxwell's was just okay. Soup was bland. The ambiance was great but the food and service were average.
Excellent craft beer, great burger, nice waiter, our table was close to the kitchen which wasn’t perfect but other than that it was a very nice experience. I will absolutely go back.
I expected a nicer look and overall mood to the place so I was a bit worried since it was a birthday lunch for my husband. But once I tried my cocktail—The Southern Gentleman—I felt a lot better about what was to come. The cocktail was really special. I had the M.O.M.'s Cuban, which was excellent. Had he had M.O.M.'s Spicy Burger which was good. Overall, excellent cocktails, very good food, service was fine, style and ambiance of the place—meh.
Very average, popular place in town. Sat in a front booth which was noisy because of the stairwell to the 2nd floor and a full dining room. The glasses and silverware were not super clean.
The food was disappointing. The fried chicken was overcooked and dry. Overpriced.
Atmosphere was very loud.
Food was good, pork chops and Pam seared chicken. Service was very friendly but slow.
They placed us upstairs in the corner. It was very loud because the bar is right there. Service was very slow.
Nice selection on the menu, good Gluten Free options.
MOM’s was a last minute New Year’s Eve choice. Everything was outstanding. I recommend the fried chicken. My wife and our friends enjoyed scallops.
Service was attentive and atmosphere made for a fun night. This was our first visit and we’ll be back soon.
This restaurant has a wonderful, old feel to it (historic building), and also a "city" feel. The food is great with some nice surprising vegetarian options (delicious Kale Bowl). The mushroom caramelized onion dip is the best! Love this restaurant.
Had brunch here at noon. Ordered sausage biscuits and gravy w/scrambled eggs. Gravy was very salty, biscuits were dry, and eggs were dry and crumbly. My husband ordered an omelet that came with hollandaise sauce. The sauce had absolutely no flavor at all.
Ambiance was nice. Service was great. Food could have used a little more seasoning.
While we appreciate it was a busy night for MOMS the food was poor, we ordered wings and they were not cooked as the meat was pink inside. The wings were removed from the bill but it still had us nervous that we were going to get sick. We had a table by the front door which was freezing due to the constant opening of the door which is unavoidable. We arrived there before everyone else had come so we quite easily could have been moved to another table which I requested but they said there were not other tables, the restaurant was empty at this time. I would come in for drinks to the bar but I likely will not eat here again.
We loved everything about our experience there! We had the braised short ribs and the fried chicken. It was delicious! Definitely coming back ASAP!
The food was great especially the Jambalaya!!
Dinner was great, and the drinks are always awesome!
Went to Maxwell's on Main with two other people for a work-related lunch. It was not very crowded. We were seated immediately and the waitress came over right away. She was very nice and attentive during our whole meal. There were lots of real good food choices for lunch, including a few daily specials. We all enjoyed our lunches and the noise level was moderate enough where we could talk and hear each other. Great place! I will suggest it to others.
Love this place! Our favorite brunch spot in Doylestown. Great Jazz band and really like the broad food options for brunch. Located right in the center of town so you can shop or see a movie afterwards. Never had a bad meal here....brunch, lunch and dinner have all been amazing.
Met up with a friend for lunch at MOM. Service was good and ambiance was nice, but food was just meh. Not bad, but nothing special. We both had soup and a salad. I had she-crab soup, my friend had the corn chowder. I had the chopped salad, my friend had the field greens salad. Maybe other menu items are better. This was my first time here, but I would go back to MOM to find out!
It was strange, but we sat down and we both wanted a burger and a beer. Took some doing, but server finally brought beer menu. Then, we both ordered the same type of beer, and she only brought us one. She also, very quickly, took back the beer menu. We asked for the second beer when we finally saw our server again and she finally brought it. My husband didn't really like the beer, though, and would have ordered another one to try a different kind, but getting the menu again was just too much trouble, so he stuck with the one he had gotten. Burgers were good, though! (I thought beer was as well!)
For dessert we got this brownie thing with ice cream on top, I ordered coffee, and he got a cappacino. I got my coffee right away. Took some time to get the brownie (but when we did, it was wonderful!) Strangely, he didn't get his cappacino until we were just about done with the brownie! I am thinking that maybe she just didn't like him very much.....
It was a great meal as always. I would just recommend that the sides be as hot as the entree. It was obvious that the sides probably sat while waiting for the mains to finish preparation.
Went for brunch and waited almost 40 mins for our food to come after we ordered. Waitress aplologized and I'm sure it was just a busy day but the food was good.
good food and service. A little hard to find but worth the effort.
Good food. Great experience . Very enjoyable time .
This place is absolutely amazing! We sat on the rooftop overlooking Doylestown! And the beer and food were wonderful! Service is def a bonus as we are on the roof and more work to get back and forth to us. Very knowledgeable staff and food has its own original flare of southern hospitality.
Highly recommended 😊
Waitress had a language barrier which made for a poor communication and service overall it was an okay dining experience.
I was in town visiting, and sampled a few different establishments in the area. I stopped here for dessert and had a coffee and a Bananas Foster between a Churro Sandwich....
All I can say is YUM! This was great finish to my evening.
I was on the main floor, and it was quiet as it was late.
There was live music upstairs, that I could hear, but it wasn't too loud, and you could easily hold a conversation across the table.
The service was caring and polite, not rushed, but attentive and friendly.
The bar area was busy, but not overcrowded, and actually quite welcoming, (not very loud).
I would definitely recommend putting this place on the "must go to" list if you're ever in the area.
We have been to this restaurant many times and have had great meals. This time was not good, my husband ordered a fish dish, which was a special and it was very fishy and tasted bad. Our waitress did not check in for a long period so a replacement meal was out. They did remove the cost of the dish and apologized.
