Beautiful, elegant, yet cozy atmosphere.
The food and flavors were exquisite.
Service was attentive without being overly present.
The quality of the food is well worth the price.
It is the only restaurant in Muscatine that will provide that kind of experience of fine dining.
We visited for our girls-night xmas dinner and we had a great time. The food was delicious and the service was good. Would definitely recommend.
The menu is expensive; however, the food is worth the expense.
For breakfast we both had granola with bright fresh berries and yogurt with a mimosa & a smoothie to go. Everything was delicious & service delightful..
Have dined at Maxwells twice now. Both experiences were perfect! Service was delightful, food exceptional!
Great service and food!
We are from the quad cities and was totally worth the drive. We will be back.
What a great place for dinner in downtown Muscatine ... refined, comfortable, and conversation friendly. The charcuterie platter is a must have appetizer, entrees expertly prepared, local wine and local beer available. A fantastic addition to this historic Iowa river town!
Lovely place for dinner
We traveled from Iowa City on the encouragement of a employee of the Kirkwood Hotel and we were not disappointed. We will take friends there again.
Good and service was excellent. Disappointed that the dining is open and adjacent to lobby check in. Didn’t feel special. Just not what we expected.
A friend back from AZ
Great service, excellent cocktails. Food was outstanding, especially the bolognese and lodes mac and cheese. Prices were not outrageous for a hotel restaurant. Would definitely recommend and dine again.
The food and service were both great! The restaurant is in the lobby of the Merrill Hotel, which has a nice view of the Mississippi River. My wife had the braised beef short rib and I had the halibut special. Both were excellent!
Our first time eating at Maxwell's on the River. We were not disappointed. Our waitress was just wonderful. The bartender was also very good. The food was very tasty and the prices were within reason. We will definenly go again.
I recommend the Muscatini, or two. We were there for lunch and it was quiet enough to have a conversation.
Solid dining experience. Really good food. Wait staff was outstanding. Will definitely return.
Such a creative menu! Out of the ordinary flair on common down to earth dishes. Our waitress was very busy yet very attentive. The atmosphere is very welcoming. This will be my go-to for special occasions.
Nice celebratory dinner after our son’s graduation. First time since COVID-19 halted out dining out enjoyment. Staff wore masks, as did most patrons moving around the restaurant. Nice views of the river from our table by the windows. The service was very good, and the food excellent. The menu catered well for our diverse dining preferences. The Charcuterie board was excellent as an entre (appetiser). My wife loved the spicy seafood and ribs Tacos combo, and my son and I both had the beef ribs (tender with a fantastic sauce), while my daughter enjoyed her chicken salad with side of marinated grilled vegetables. Very tasty. Will be back for sure.
The brussel sprouts are THE best! All the food was delicious.
Good to try a fancy place, food was decent, a lot of the food items were bitter which isn’t my favorite.
Great Place! Awesome Location! The Staff Friendly and Amazing!
The manager is not very professional. If a guest is not happy with how the food is cooked, just fix it. He does not need to try to make the customer feel dumb. I have managed many places, and would never treat my guests like that. He alone made our night a bad experience. I will not return do to my treatment.
Fantastic meal and drinks. Wife had the Berry Burger. Said it was the best burger she'd ever had. I did the short rib. Super tender and flavorful. Unique drinks as well. Loved it.
Outstanding experience! Tessa is the best chef. Can't beat the river view!
Modern and exquisite tastes that are completely authentic and original. The Pasta Bolognese was a delicious and very well curated taste.
The food was amazing and checking in was easy! Had a great time the only flaw was nobody waited on us for 20ish minutes and had to go find waitress after several others were served before us. It seems to be a fluke incident and will be going back as the prices and quality of food were perfect.
Maxwell's on the River was our choice for Christmas Dinner....the huge open lobby and restaurant overlook the Mississippi River where we watched bald eagles soaring and diving for fish. The Christmas decorations were gorgeous and the service was terrific. The spicy shrimp and pasta dishes were delicous. We will be back.
The best food that I have come across in Muscatine.
Enjoyed my first dining experience at Maxwell’s! Food was amazing - my two favorites were Brussel Sprouts as an appetizer and Key Lime Creme Brûlée for dessert. Will frequent often.
The food was amazing and worth the price but it is pricey. Amazing place to go wish I could afford it more often. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the food and drinks and very friendly and funny to not just our table but other tables around. Very clean and quick as well
Appropriate social distancing and masking and really nicely curated wine list and menu. Delightful.
We were there to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. We ordered the NY Strip Steak. The dish for the memory of Mike Furlong. We were seated immediately and our waitress was there very quickly. The steak was delicious, the sukatash was bland the the mashed potato was tasteless. After checking with us twice, the waitress just seemed to disappear. We waited for awhile after we completely our meal and then went to the host and asked for our bill. Right after we did that our waitress appeared and said she would get the bill. The host communicated to her that he had already printed the bill. I paid with cash. Since we split the meal, our bill was only approximately $55.00. The waitress brought back approximately $45.00 ( two twentys and a five) I had to go to the host to break one of the twentys so I could leave an appropriate and reasonable tip. I hope this all makes sense. I think our waitress may have been new. I would recommend Maxwell's as a fine dining restaurant and hotel. I might tell them to avoid the sukatash and the mashed potatos.
Beautiful spot on the river!! Food, service and ambiance are on par with major cities Thank you Merrill!!
The food was great! I loved the river view. Service was fast and friendly.
The food and service was amazing! We really enjoyed it! The only problem was that there was some construction right next to us that made the noise level quite loud and took from the atmosphere. Otherwise it would have been perfect!
Food was great as always!
They had a great selection on their menu and a few specials that we were able to try! Can’t wait to come back!
Very quiet, not busy. Nice view of the river. Food was good. Had the short rib, it was very tender and tasty along with the mashed potatoes. A bit on the pricey side, but worth it.
Great View, Fantastic Food, Service was Awesome... but once the food showed up, we wished we had gotten a table inside, the flies were terrible (but what do you expect on a summer day by the river?) Would Definitely eat there again!
Personnel went out of their way to be outstanding.....from service, recommendations, to
trying to procure a liquor they didn't have in their bar! I will go back even though it is an
hour of driving time!
Food was wonderful, a great take on midwestern fare. Staff and service was some of the best I’ve experienced
