Absolutely love love love Max’s! Great apps. Great meals. Great wine.
I owe this great dining experience to our server. He provided great suggestions which lead to a delicious grilled pimento cheese sandwich with comforting tomato basil soup. The accompanying house made chips completed this wonderful lunch.
Had the Max and Cheese with chicken tenders for brunch. It was very good! The chicken was crispy and fried perfectly and the Mac was a bowl of cheesy goodness! Will definitely be back!
Loved the new menu, the return of Stuffed Peppers (!!!) and the special of seafood gumbo. Another great evening with our friends at Max’s.
This is a local spot. It is accessible to all of San Antonio just across from the Alamo Quarry Shopping center. Remember those of you who are CHL holders, that this place is 30.06 and 30.07 signed. Just so ya know. The food is reasonably good, they do not have a full bar, just wine, beer and ciders of various kinds. All good. The Cheese Burger I had was good, I added bacon, or you can add a number of other items to it to spiff it up to your liking. Cheese plate, french fries, salads and other sides are available. Inside and outside seating is available.
Love this place great food a huge wine selection everyone is super nice our waitress was so sweet and attentive!!
Excellent food and service, the fry chicken is a must try!!
The fried chicken was everything.
It took a longer than I would like for our server to arrive, but once she did, the services was great. Not only was she very attentive but I also noticed the mgmt making frequent and brief visits to check in on guests throughout the establishment, including three times to our table, a very welcome approach. I am not a wine conesoir, but I felt their wine offering was extensive and broad enough to satisfy most. Our server knew their wine offering well and gave us great suggestions based on our wine preferences. The food was creative, however my wife and I are less adventurous with food than most. We absolutely loved the 2 appetizers we tried, but our entrees were not as good. They weren’t terrible, just simply not to our liking. I would visit again for sure, but probably for wine and appetizers.
Love Max’s. The new GM James Clark is great as well. Very welcoming and on top of everything. A wonderful brunch we had with friends.
Excellent place to enjoy a conversation with friends along with good food and wine. Excellent service!
Usually we love Max's but not this time. 1st issue - we had 6pm reservations and I specifically asked for a low table bc someone in our party was in a cast. They said they did not have a low table available although there were 2 in the back area. The manager finally seated us after a 20 min wait. 2nd issue -(it was not super busy) we waited 15 mins for our waitress to come by our table. When she finally came over we explained that we needed to hurry bc we had tickets to an 8pm show at the Majestic. We ordered drinks and food. We waited a while for our food. When it finally came out they only brought 3 of the 4 meals. All of our food was like warm. When we finally got the attention of our waitress we informed her we were missing a meal. She went to check on it and came back and said I don't know what happened but they are making it now. Needless to say that entree came out luke warm. We asked for our bill when we started to eat. My husband had to get up and ask the manager for our bills. Our waitress came over and dropped the bills we said hold on we need to pay and leave. She actually said then you should have come earlier. We paid and left and made it to the Majestic at 8:10. Let me remind you we had a 6pm reservations. I don't usually post negative reviews but that evening was terrible from the staff to the food. We will go back again since this is the 1st time we have been disappointed.
Once again, everything from the food and service was nothing but excellent!! Please keep up the outstanding work.
Food is amazing! We loved everything! We went for brunch and everything was so good. Definitely recommend!
Our server was fantastic, however there was an issue with EVERY single thing that was ordered. We were given grapefruit juice with our mimosas, my partner had everything placed on his burger that he specifically asked to be left out, the burger itself was incredibly salty, our kids’s French toast didn’t come with the icing and sprinkles as requested, and half of the bacon was so hard it couldn’t even bitten through.
Fried chicken was outstanding. Appetizers not so much. We ordered the fried deviled eggs and loaded curly fries. We shared, neither was very good. But the lunch of fried chicken, collard greens and mashed potatoes were great! I plan to visit again.
A group of friends and I went during Restaurant week and the service was great from the moment we walked in. Our water was super friendly without being overbearing and the food and portion size were perfect. We'll definitely return.
Perfect place for date night, food was delicious. We will go again
Food was great but service was limited. We had a party of 8 and we expected to be there awhile but it appeared the staff looked overwhelmed for the day.
Another great meal! Chef Cesar had a great Restaurant Week menu and it was a super night.
Loved the tomate, beef medallions, and chocolate mousse! Total YUMM! So glad we came to indulge in your Restaurant Week showcases.
Til the next time we dine... 😊
Only disappointment was some of our favorite appetizers they were out of. The shrimp and grits were lacking flavor and shrimp was not fresh. Otherwise all the other dishes were great.
Max's is usually a safe bet for munchies and wine. We came in early on a Saturday night. We were seated quickly and greeted by our server. She went to get us water while we determined what we wanted to eat. It took a while for our food and drinks and my beef skewers were VERY rare. Food was tasty. We were surprised to see a number of children in the restaurant. In fact, one was seated next to us and her parents gave her an Ipad to watch cartoons without headphones in a place with WINE DIVE in the name. It was loud to begin with, but the cartoon sounds (and yes I did ask the parents if they could please turn it down - they did and were apologetic, but kid turned it right back up) made us chug our wine and leave. Most likely we will go back; although, would like to ask Management to think through where children are seated in the restaurant.
This was my second time going to Max's and I was not disappointed. The happy hour menu was amazing and wine bottles were half off. We ordered some small plates to share in our group that were all amazing. Our server, Kyle, was very knowledgable about the menu and wine list and made great suggestions for us. Overall this was a great experience and we will definitely be back.
I thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. The wine menu had a nice variety and the food was delicious. The customer service was great as well. You have to try the house Sangria. It is the best Sangria I have tasted so far in San Antonio!
The food lacked flavor. To expensive for quantity and quality of food. Would not return.
Cold Chicken Long Service Not busy…we informed manager
Ambiance was killed when the hostess broke our table apart to put someone 6” away from us.
Must have been an off night. Have been several times before and had good experiences. The restaurant was about half full. Service was poor. I ordered the meatloaf. It came out stone cold. Took them 15 minutes to heat it up and return it. Everyone was done eating by the time I got it back. No apologies from the restaurant or visit from the manager. Hamburgers ordered by table mates were cooked to wrong temperature. Overall a poor experience this go around.
The food was great. I love the gluten friendly fried chicken. The service was a little slow but overall very good.
Service was very good and food was excellent.
A really great experience. Excellent food and very good wines. Clearly, this is some of the best fried chicken.
food was good. however, mine was just barely warm and the chicken tenders on my dish were tough.
Mediocre food, specifically asked for extraaaa crispy and came out so soft and greasy.
Understand the wait for the chicken to cook, however the veggies should not be cole
Awesome food!! Ryan, top notch waitress.. atmosphere and mimosa's are the best!
We came in for brunch and our waitress was subpar for the amount of money we spent there. Below are my thoughts
1) came in was seated immediately
2) waitress came by once to ask for our drink orders which was only water
3) we ordered food.. got there at 11:23 ordered food at 11:40 the waitress did not ask if we needed anything additional, not once did she refill waters
4) asked another waitress (as ours was nowhere to be found) when our food would be delivered, she then went to our waitress who pointed at us and made a disgusted face
5) had another waitress bring us coffee as ours was nowhere to be found
6) food came out at 12:30
A) FRENCH TOAST WAS NOT GOOD AND LOOKED LIKE A CHILD MADE IT AT HOME
B) EGGS BENADICT HAD 3 TINY PIECES OF DRIED CHICKEN
7) waitress never asked how our food was
Overall BAD experience and will not recommend to anyone.
We have been going to max wine dive for years. They changed the French toast recipe and it wasn't good like before. Our wings came to us cold. We won't be returning until the recipe is back.
Meal was brought out at different times because fried chicken wasn't ready for some guests aww. Waited for fried chicken and it was somehow overcooked
