The fried chicken was everything.
Love Max’s. The new GM James Clark is great as well. Very welcoming and on top of everything. A wonderful brunch we had with friends.
Excellent place to enjoy a conversation with friends along with good food and wine. Excellent service!
Once again, everything from the food and service was nothing but excellent!! Please keep up the outstanding work.
Food is amazing! We loved everything! We went for brunch and everything was so good. Definitely recommend!
Our server was fantastic, however there was an issue with EVERY single thing that was ordered. We were given grapefruit juice with our mimosas, my partner had everything placed on his burger that he specifically asked to be left out, the burger itself was incredibly salty, our kids’s French toast didn’t come with the icing and sprinkles as requested, and half of the bacon was so hard it couldn’t even bitten through.
Fried chicken was outstanding. Appetizers not so much. We ordered the fried deviled eggs and loaded curly fries. We shared, neither was very good. But the lunch of fried chicken, collard greens and mashed potatoes were great! I plan to visit again.
A group of friends and I went during Restaurant week and the service was great from the moment we walked in. Our water was super friendly without being overbearing and the food and portion size were perfect. We'll definitely return.
Perfect place for date night, food was delicious. We will go again
Food was great but service was limited. We had a party of 8 and we expected to be there awhile but it appeared the staff looked overwhelmed for the day.
Another great meal! Chef Cesar had a great Restaurant Week menu and it was a super night.
Loved the tomate, beef medallions, and chocolate mousse! Total YUMM! So glad we came to indulge in your Restaurant Week showcases.
Til the next time we dine... 😊
Only disappointment was some of our favorite appetizers they were out of. The shrimp and grits were lacking flavor and shrimp was not fresh. Otherwise all the other dishes were great.
Max's is usually a safe bet for munchies and wine. We came in early on a Saturday night. We were seated quickly and greeted by our server. She went to get us water while we determined what we wanted to eat. It took a while for our food and drinks and my beef skewers were VERY rare. Food was tasty. We were surprised to see a number of children in the restaurant. In fact, one was seated next to us and her parents gave her an Ipad to watch cartoons without headphones in a place with WINE DIVE in the name. It was loud to begin with, but the cartoon sounds (and yes I did ask the parents if they could please turn it down - they did and were apologetic, but kid turned it right back up) made us chug our wine and leave. Most likely we will go back; although, would like to ask Management to think through where children are seated in the restaurant.
This was my second time going to Max's and I was not disappointed. The happy hour menu was amazing and wine bottles were half off. We ordered some small plates to share in our group that were all amazing. Our server, Kyle, was very knowledgable about the menu and wine list and made great suggestions for us. Overall this was a great experience and we will definitely be back.
I thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. The wine menu had a nice variety and the food was delicious. The customer service was great as well. You have to try the house Sangria. It is the best Sangria I have tasted so far in San Antonio!
The food lacked flavor. To expensive for quantity and quality of food. Would not return.
Cold Chicken Long Service Not busy…we informed manager
Ambiance was killed when the hostess broke our table apart to put someone 6” away from us.
Must have been an off night. Have been several times before and had good experiences. The restaurant was about half full. Service was poor. I ordered the meatloaf. It came out stone cold. Took them 15 minutes to heat it up and return it. Everyone was done eating by the time I got it back. No apologies from the restaurant or visit from the manager. Hamburgers ordered by table mates were cooked to wrong temperature. Overall a poor experience this go around.
The food was great. I love the gluten friendly fried chicken. The service was a little slow but overall very good.
Service was very good and food was excellent.
A really great experience. Excellent food and very good wines. Clearly, this is some of the best fried chicken.
food was good. however, mine was just barely warm and the chicken tenders on my dish were tough.
Mediocre food, specifically asked for extraaaa crispy and came out so soft and greasy.
Understand the wait for the chicken to cook, however the veggies should not be cole
Awesome food!! Ryan, top notch waitress.. atmosphere and mimosa's are the best!
We came in for brunch and our waitress was subpar for the amount of money we spent there. Below are my thoughts
1) came in was seated immediately
2) waitress came by once to ask for our drink orders which was only water
3) we ordered food.. got there at 11:23 ordered food at 11:40 the waitress did not ask if we needed anything additional, not once did she refill waters
4) asked another waitress (as ours was nowhere to be found) when our food would be delivered, she then went to our waitress who pointed at us and made a disgusted face
5) had another waitress bring us coffee as ours was nowhere to be found
6) food came out at 12:30
A) FRENCH TOAST WAS NOT GOOD AND LOOKED LIKE A CHILD MADE IT AT HOME
B) EGGS BENADICT HAD 3 TINY PIECES OF DRIED CHICKEN
7) waitress never asked how our food was
Overall BAD experience and will not recommend to anyone.
We have been going to max wine dive for years. They changed the French toast recipe and it wasn't good like before. Our wings came to us cold. We won't be returning until the recipe is back.
Meal was brought out at different times because fried chicken wasn't ready for some guests aww. Waited for fried chicken and it was somehow overcooked
I've eaten there several times before and the chicken was fried with a very thick, crunchy crust.
This time the chicken was fried in its skin with very, very little crust.
Always great!!! Favorite neighborhood hangout!!! Great food, wine, beer and desserts!!!
As usual food was excellent and service was great. Thanks again.
Service was fantastic. Food was perfect and the drinks were on point.
The seating is a problem. We were wedged in between two other tables with barely enough room to maneuver to either side. So, it was uncomfortable. But, the music was good. That was pretty much the best thing about the night.
The food was so-so. We ordered the beer cheese fondue, but it's basically the proverbial "queso" you can order anywhere else only this comes with jalapenos and onions. The kicker is that instead of chips, you get pretzel bread. But the bread is tiny and you get charged for ordering another bread to finish the cheese "fondue". (Guess what? You need at least 3 pretzel breads to eat up all that "fondue").
I had a ceasar salad that fit in a small cup, but was charged like it was a main salad. The clincher was that my wife was given the wrong plate and I didn't get the bacon on my burger as I ordered. I didn't even finish the burger because it wasn't even all that good. I can have a better burger somewhere else, I'm not talking chain restaurant here, and not pay as much as I did.
Oh, we ordered apple ciders and they weren't cool at all. They were just below room temperature and they were $8 a pop! I could've bought the same cider at a grocery store for much less. Hell, $8 would've bought me a 4-pack at the grocery store and it would've been cold!
Avoid this place. It's not worth the money and certainly doesn't live up to the hype. There are much better places to take your significant other to.
Our server Alejandro was great!!
Great, attentive service. Decent, but small, wine list. Prices on food are a little high for the value; noise level and sports bar ambiance only underscore the disconnect between the pricing and the experience. The appetizers were good; the dinner was decent but not amazing.
Went for Brunch... Husband and I shared the Max & Cheese & added truffles- the best mac and cheese I've had. way better than their sister restaraunts version at Boilerhouse, and the fried chicken plate, subbed french fries for home fries and asked for the chipotle honey- OUTSTANDING.
Max's has some standard menu items that are always good - and a great wine selection.
Visited on a Tuesday evening. Not crowded at all. Thought we might try the reverse happy hour (9-11), but ended up ordering entrees instead. Everyone enjoyed their orders. I had the chicken sliders and had one leftover to take home. Good portion sizes for the prices. The service was a little slow, but we were there to talk and catch up so it wasn’t terribly annoying. Overall would recommend this restaurant.
