Took an out of town friend for Brunch. The food was great, our server was awesome and the Pomegranate Mimosa's hit the spot!
Awesome place but it was freezing cold in there!
Staff was great and very accommodating.
The Food@ service was great. The fried chicken is outstanding. I really enjoy this location.
Great, as always!
Made a reservation, didn't matter, had to wait. Didn't get any type of consideration for seating despite having several open booths. Manager and hostess were not very friendly or customer oriented. That may have been my last trip to that place.
Awesome! The food took extremely long to come out but it was well worth the wait. Our waitress and everyone else were energetic and overall great too. Of course we all tried the Famous Fried Chicken! Everything was worth the money!
Always good. Love grits, greens, and chicken.
The food and wine were really good. The crispy chicken and mushroom risotto was top notch. Only down side was it was a first date and this place is way to loud for a first date as conversation at times was difficult.
We used to go there very often two years ago, we just stop going to avoid that delicious fried chicken but this time we were in shock how expensive the wines jumped up plus the one we picked was terrible and the bartender seemed to have not experience about wine, she was nice but...the food was VERY salty. The mussels and pork. We rather go to a high scale restaurant to pay for the kind of price they are charging in there. Overall, very disappointed
Food was good. I’m always looking for good fried oysters and MAX’s delivered at a reasonable price. Wine is a little overpriced. It was pretty loud but good music selection. Staff was awesome.
Music excessively loud
I used to love the food here. Everytime I start liking something on the menu they take it off. My fried chicken was almost burnt this time. The food is mediocre now and over priced.
Ate here for Easter with my husband, two grown children and one fiancée. Awesome, relaxed place with amazing food. Love the vibe (cool). Great music (Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire, Michael Jackson..etc). We all loved our food! (No healthy here😬) Will definitely return! Only lost one star for service because the waitress ordered the wrong thing for me...but I got to taste everyone else’s food while I was waiting!
Had not been in a long time. Very good!
My wife and I went to Max's for a late dinner, and as usual had a great meal and a great evening. The Oyster Nachos are always fantastic and the Fried Chicken is the best in Houston. The wine recommendation also complemented the meal. The service was bit slow, but we attribute this to being a night before a holiday, and will certainly be back soon.
You can't go wrong at Max's....well if you do, it's your own fault. I have been to Max's dozens of times and have never been disappointed. We brought an out of town guest for Saturday brunch. I was not satisfied with the cornbread and sausage gravy but truth be told, I am not a fan of cornbread. I thought it might change my mind but it didn't. The addition of the sage bacon and extra gravy made a great addition. No fault to Max's. Everyone enjoyed their fare and I enjoyed the prickly pear mimosa's. Great way to start our day before the Bayou City Art Festival. This is the place to go when your a cruising Washington Street. No one does it better.
Me and my friend enjoyed mimosas and brunch. The fried chicken is phenomenal! Fast and friendly service as well. I always enjoy myself here!
Best fried chicken in Houston!
Their mimosas are flat. Taste like it's been sitting there for days. No thanks. Chicken taste fine.
Had delicious food and excellent, attentive service. Crackling Chicken was juicy and flavorful along with the tasty risotto. Shrimp and Grits were good, but grits were a little runny.
It was our 34th wedding anniversary and we had a great time but it was rushed. We had brunch and was very good but we wanted to order the sweet potato donuts. The waitress packed my leftovers and brought the check right away so we didn’t get to order. Probably a miscommunication maybe.
I’ve visited this establishment a few times. We arrived early and was seated immediately. Love this place, however the seating is pretty tight. I wish there was more room between each party table.
The food and service were good. The restaurant smelled old and stale. Not a very appetizing experience.
Food was Excellent! !!!! @ ANGEL IS Awesome Waitress.
Our server was not the best. We had to actually go and get him to bring an item that came with the meal, but did not arrive when my meal was served. Only had one refill and only checked on us maybe 3 times during the entire meal. Very inattentive server who was more interested in talking with his colleagues than serving us. It was also my birthday and I told them this on the reservation and no one made mention of it when we arrived and a table was not even reserved for us. Luckily we arrived when it was not very busy yet. I know this because as we left, I noticed that they did put a reserved sign on the table. Questionable if we will return to this location, but the food was very good. In addition, it was loud and not really good for a quiet date night.
Great food and service!
I especially enjoy the seasonal menus; everytime they phase out some of my favorites, they replace them with dishes I love just as much.
Had brunch on Sunday with old friends and had a blast. They treated us well and gave us complimentary mimosas when our table wasn't ready, (we had a reservation). Great service, super friendly staff. Food was fabulous! Thumbs up.
The food @ the service was great!!!! Ine of my favorite restaurant.
First time there; it was very nice. The chicken was delicious. The service was over the top. Blake was super attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back.
Great food and great service we had a wonderful evening
I enjoyed this little experience. My sever was Angel she had ok service no major issues that can get better with time. The ambiance is amazing. Their mimosas are awful flat and gross I can’t believe they mess those up. The fried chicken is ok it’s overrated but still good to eat. Great for groups and couples. They have a nice little selection for wines.
The hostess I think her name is Shameka ?? She was polite and patient as well. I would recommend this place.
Awesome brunch - had chicken & waffles, egg sandwich. Huge portions!
Fantastic waiter who helped us navigate the wine list and the menu. We loved the wine he suggested! He really made the night. It was more of a bar atmosphere than I expected but we enjoyed it. The fried chicken is as good as they say.
Chicken is the best ever!
My party and I really enjoyed their signature dishes. Everything was cooked to perfection and the choices were plentiful.
Everything was great. Had not been in a while. Will return soon
Fantastic Sunday brunch, as always! Blake took fantastic care of us!
Have always heard great things about the food at Maxs. Food quality was average with a few dishes we ordered far less than average. Tables are WAY too close together to enjoy a dinner with just YOUR friends. Music has to be extremely loud to cover the noise of other tables next to you and the kitchen so close to the dining area. Average experience at best. Plenty of other Houston eateries for this food quality. HIGHLY Doubt we would return. P.S. Bring back the drunken bread.
Excellent as usual! We brought a friend for lunch and he had never been before. From now on, he will be a local like us.
