Service was great and food was exceptional. Not crowded at all.
Waited over an hour to get food for table of 4. The specialty southern fried chicken is not as good as remembered. Was poorly battered missing half on each piece
I am from NYC visiting the parents in Houston for Mother’s Day. MAX’s was vibrant, great energy. Staff was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Drinks were awesome, had the bloody Mary’s and champagne. Glass was skunky, waiter switched it out immediately. Chicken was divine, deviled eggs with fried oyster on top delightful. We truly enjoyed ourselves. Will be coming back when in Houston again.
I had a excellent Mother’s Day brunch a little noisy but it was ok
Went with a group - the fried chicken was awesome as that is what they are best known for but everything else was very mediocre. If you want good wine and that specific dish have-at-it but it wouldn't be our first or second choice for a dinner out with friends in the future.
Very nice. Can be pricey if ordering a la carte to your meal. Atmosphere was cool.
Loved the brunch! Can’t wait to go back!!
The changes to the menu is very sad. Everything I came for is simply gone. Good bye Max's... this was my last visit. Simply good, no longer great. Your no longer a destination worth the drive.
Delightful evening on the patio. Sat by the monthly wine tasting and definitely want to return for that. Oysters and egg sandwich were wonderful as usual and the grilled cheese was slap yo’ mama great!
Max’s is our “go to” place for late-night dining! The food always exceeds expectations, and the service staff is well-trained and super friendly! On this recent visit, our server was Manny, and he was top-notch! Thanks, Manny, for making it such a great night out!
We will be back!
This is our preferred location; we tried the one on Washington and the ambiance here is better and the opportunity for seating outside when the weather warrants. Service was excellent as were the mimosas and the variety of selections for brunch.
Went to enjoy an early dinner before heading to the theater. Busy patio but quiet inside. Friendly and attentive staff. Delicious food as always- the Max and Cheese, oyster nachos, and chicken sliders fantastic.
Another fabulous experience at Max's. I had the butcher's omelet and my guest had the smoked salmon benedict. Both were excellent dishes. Our server Reese was attentive but not intrusive. I love having brunch here.
The dining experience was great as always. We hadn’t been in a few months and were excited about the new changes. We tried the featured deviled eggs which were absolutely delicious!!!! We also tried the new Koolaid Mimosas they were nice and refreshing! We enjoyed the experience so much, we made reservations for the next day for brunch! The staff were all amazing, accommodating made us feel like VIP!!! Thanks to Kim and the amazing team at MAX’s!!!
We researched a few Houston brunch locations and you guys lived up to our expectations and we will be returning.
We had a short layover between Edmonton, Canada and Guatemala and decided brunch was in order. After a little online research it was decided (by she who must obeyed 😉) that MAXS was our destination. We booked with OpenTable and Uber'd over.
What a great decision, she had the Max & Cheese with fried chicken added and he had the Honey-Butter Benedict(substituted in the pink-pepper hollandaise) with home fries AND jalopeño-cheddar grits.
We would super-recommend MAXS.
It was all great and the bottle of Prosecco to wash things down was a great add on.
Sorry, no pictures as we dove in too fast!
Presentation was great, portions were excellent and our server Michael was fantastic!
Place was surprisingly quiet on a Friday evening, but that was ok. Service was ok, often lengthy periods without checking in on us. Food was good, but nothing super special. Prices were fair.
Was excellent as always!
We sat outside on the patio for Easter dinner. Everything was delicious.
Wasn’t To Nice The Service was Bad, No waiter came to my table for 10mins
I was very disappointed regarding the food.... we ordered your fried chicken platter and the waffles and wings the taste was that of old grease... and they were fried to fast because when we broke the wings apart they were ouzing blood" so gross" I just felt like the place was a bit overated..I thought this would be a good place to bring my Grandsons for easter brunch they were a bit disappointed also...Please change the oil that your frying your chicken in!
We had Easter Brunch at Max's Wine Dive Fairview location. The brunch dishes were positively decadent and the fried chicken was amazing as always. Don't miss the jalapeno grits--outstanding!
My favorite location between SA, Austin and the Houston locations. Even when slammed food comes flying out and is perfect. Servers always on point, Chicken utterly incredible and champagne always readily at have. Life pro tip: if you get the fried chicken, skip the collared greens and home fries and get two portions of jalapeno cheddar grits
Very nice time
The food was delicious and the service was wonderful! Armendari was an awesome server! She is super knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great suggestions!
Amazing fried chicken!
Service was great. Love the music, which is selected by the wait staff. Everything we ordered was delicious...fried oysters on wonton chips with chipotle sauce were very tasty for our appetizer. My seasonal entree short rib was tender and moist. My husband got the fried chicken, which was served very hot. He loved it. Oh, we sampled some wine, ordered a bottle. We live in the suburbs, drove in for dinner at 7,got home around 10! Nice evening.
Very disappointed. I go to the Washington location frequently but wanted to try this location. I usually get the wings and pancake but this time the wings were overcooked and the pancake had a thick layer of cream cheese icing that wasn't listed on the description, otherwise I would've asked for it not to be on there (I'm not a fan of cream cheese). The best part was the patio. We went on a beautiful Friday afternoon and there was a light breeze. If the food was good, it would've been a perfect experience but I don't think I'd return to this location unless I'm just having a drink on the patio..
Thank you Jacob, cooks, and team for a great late night dinner. We really appreciate your professionalism, great attitude, and fantastic food!
Have been to Max’s many times; this night very poor service and slow kitchen. Hope they fix it
Went for Sunday Brunch had a reservation but was not seated until 1 hour after because of lack of tables after we were seated it took 30 minutes for them to take our order then over a hour for us to get food our after.... only received a small apology from the Mgr who we saw eating at the line while we waited for food... tables sat after us were served before us. I’ll never come back up this location 2nd time and last time. Food is good but not that good.
Last Sunday I experienced the worst service ever. The waiter walked past our table about 7 times before acknowledge our presence. After we spoke to management about the horrible service she assured us that we would receive better service. That was definitely not the case, the waiter literally ignored us every time we would call his name or try to catch his attention. After sitting at the table for 45 minuets he decided to let us know that "he was too busy to take care of us." Needless to say I left and will never return.
Got email about no show. Actually was there albeit a little late. Guess hostess didn’t realize it was me.
Ordered the fried chicken salad. I asked for the chicken on the side. They brought it on the side but it was a bone on chicken breast. I asked them to remove the bones and slice it like it comes normally and the waiter brought back a cut up chicken breast with no batter. Looked like they had just dropped an in battered chicken breast in the fryer and cut it up. Very disappointing. I will not order that again. My husband and friend ordered the fried chicken Benedict. They were also let down when there were bones in their chicken thighs on the Benedict. All around a negative experience.
The NACHO MAMA’S OYSTERS and the BRAISED SHORT RIB are not to be missed! Great service with a great smile!
