We're passionate about food and wine – just like you! We pride ourselves on bringing you gourmet comfort food made from the highest-quality local ingredients in an exciting and unique atmosphere.
Your prices have gotten extremely high and the amount of food does not suffice. I will not be back until you lower them.
We truly had the most terrific time for our Saturday Brunch with the ladies! To the sweetest waitress, host, and bus person....THANK YOU! We will be coming again soon.
Staff was disorganized and unattentive. Not intamate or romantic.
Cody was our server. Great and attentive. I deliberated on the St. Louis ribs or the beef short ribs. I opted for the St. Louis ribs. Somewhat chewy, didn't really the skillet potatoes or roll. The poblano cream corn and moscato champagne were the best part of my meal tonight. My birthday was Monday and this was the first time in years that I was disappointed. So, I guess that's not too bad.
So delicious, great drinks too! Great service! This was our 4th visit to Max's wine dive and we are never disappointed
Took my dad for the first time he looked. Our waitress was phenomenal
Great but they closed the Dallas location after we visited. I'm so disappointed.
The sliders were ok, I should've opted out of the honey butter it was way too sweet and drowned out the nice taste of the chicken. I don't know my the mac and cheese is so raved about either because it was so bland...
the French fried were a surprise big hit though, I really liked them. Salt and pepper needs to be on these tables.
Exceptional! Thank you for attention and amazing service. Sean, our waiter, was beyond accommodating. The bananas foster was out of this world amazing. Caramelizing the banana slices was a nice touch.
Music was loud. Service was subpar. It says online that the happy hour lasts till 7, but waitress told us it ended at 6. Fort Worth location was MUCH better. Won't be returning.
The music was loud for the size of the crowd in the restaurant. Our server while attentive made multiple mistakes with our order. Please someone teach young servers to write the order down rather than trying to remember all of it.
Unfortunately the bar got one of the simple martini orders wrong three times...otherwise the food was great
A year or so ago, I had a poor experience here, but things have changed and this Max's deserves my very positive review!
My wife and I went to a show last Thursday night, and knew we would be eating late and booked a table through Google/Open Table for 10:30pm. Having worked in a restaurant for 6 years in the past, I know that nobody gets excited for the last table of the night to show up 30 mins before close (when the kitchen is supposed to close when we arrive) and I have empathy for the crew when we are the last table. Fortunately, the bar manager Sean and the executive chef Sam made us feel like we were the complete opposite of a bother. They were incredible to us.
My wife has Celiac Disease. We had a question for Sean about if one item could be made gluten free. Rather than guess, he brought Sam out from the kitchen and Sam explained everything and answered all of my wife's questions, including explaining why some things could not be modified to be gluten free. Sean's attentiveness, kindness, and attention to detail really showed throughout the dinner. He even remembered something we said shortly after we arrived, and acknowledged it as we were leaving. Very thoughtful.
The food was spot on. Everything came out perfect and Sean checked on us as well as Sam came out to ask us how everything was. He even explained how the ribs were prepared and gave me a tip on how to make corn as good as that which came with the ribs. The warm brussel sprouts on the seasonal menu were the best we have ever had anywhere. They are a must, even if you don't think you like brussel sprouts.
Not once did we feel rushed or that anyone was growing impatient with us. Sean and Sam were genuinely polite and friendly from the moment we sat down until we left and that meant a lot. I understand they are both relatively new, so I hope they become a critical part of the long term plan, because while the food was very good, their service will have us back the next time we go downtown.
I really enjoyed my dinner at Max's. The cracklin chicken and risotto was absolutely amazing.
We've been to Max's several times now. The food is always good and plentiful. My only disappointment was the gin drink a few of us ordered. It tasted a little on the watery side. Next time it will be strictly wine. Otherwise, it was a great evening with good food and friends.
This place has really gone down hill or this was a very off Friday night. Only a few tables when we arrived at 6:30, it took 3 staff and 30 minutes to get a single glass of wine and an additional 30 minutes to get a cheese plate. As par for the dinner, our mains arrived 10 minutes afterwards. Overall the food was good but could not get past the service. Very sad to see as we have been to several of their other locations and had a very enjoyable evening.
Was good food but fried chicken was less flavorful than expected. A bit pricey, but that goes with the location (Uptown) and the stylish feel. It's a refurbished, old warehouse-type building with high ceilings and old floors. Nice facelift and good rock/grunge music. Had a relaxed, earthy feel.
Very good the food was very good, and the service was outstanding.
Food was awesome! I had the wings and waffle, surprisingly I didn't need any hot sauce on my wings or butter on my waffle it was really good. And a friend had greens with home fries and chicken it was all tasty. We Will dine again.
Fried oysters had a shell and were unpleasantly chewy inside. Burger should be called Arizona it was so dry and over cooked. Shrimp and grits had huge clumps of grits from inadequate stirring.
This restaurant was perfect for the time and occasion. We went on a rainy morning so it may have been less busy due to the weather, but perfect for us! We made reservations, were seated and well taken care of. We were there for brunch celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary(weekend). We ordered the waffle and wings, and the chicken fried steak, grits, and eggs...and the food was absolutely delicious!! My husband said that this will be his permanent Brunch spot. Lastly the ambiance and the music were both....SUPERB!
Limited menu, but the crackle chicken and shrimp and grits were very good. They served a pinot noir chilled which made it taste "off". They were also "out" of iced tea, which I thought was strange. However, the server was very attentive and the atmosphere is lovely.
Food was excellent! Highly recommend the grits...creamy and flavorful! Husband throughly enjoyed the chicken. The greens are THE best...seasoned to perfection!
Max's is one of my favorite places to have brunch. I was a little disappointed on this visit because they made some changes to my favorite meal: the southern fried chicken dinner. The fried chicken tasted different, the chipotle honey was very sweet and didn't really have the kick that I loved, and the potatoes are more like cut crispy hashbrowns. The food was still good but not what I have grown to love from Max's. I don't mind change except when it comes to my fried chicken. I will return again soon.
This was my first visit. The host was rude, but my waitress Tori was GREAT! I really didn't like the food and she made sure that I had something that I liked. My fried chicken was under cooked. Its was still pink on the I side. The greens had way to much vinegar in them. They were bitter. She was able to give me grits in place of the greens and I really appreciate her for that
Food was great and music was on point. Service was kind of slow but hopefully that was a fluke. Would definitely go back.
Got a Groupon to try Max's. The pork & cheese stuffed peppers for appetizers were great. The buffalo sliders were very dry & bland. Their known for their fried chicken and it's definitely worth the wait. Three of us got the chicken but next time I think I'll get the shrimp & grits. Tried a bite (that's what the other person in our party had) and it was delicious!!! Not a very good dessert selection though. Did not have what was on the websites menu. Definitely will try this place again!
It was my first time eating here. I never make a big deal out of my birthday, but this was the perfect place. Food was great, the staff was chill and attentive and didn't get upset that a friend had brought in outside cupcakes for dessert. It was a good volume inside and all in all, exactly what I needed. I had the short ribs and they were fab.
There is a reason that this restaurant offered 1000 points
One of my favorite places to get together with friends and have a great meal. As usual the food and service were superb, the atmosphere was great.
I have been dinning at Max's in Houston for quite some time, and I love the Fairview location in Houston. I decided to check out the location is Dallas last night. The food was good - there is consistency there. The service on the other hand was poor. Our waiter took our order and must have shared it with the chef and staff incorrectly. Our starters came out at the same time as our main course. Our drinks that we ordered were not drinkable, they were horribly made. Our server did not come back to check on us during our entire meal. The chef did apologize for the mess up with the starter and he was kind enough to comp both of them. The staff did apologize for the mistakes of their colleague. I do not know if I will visit this location again!
First time at Max's Dallas...usually we go to Max's Ft. Worth. The wine list was still very good but the food was not enjoyable. The salmon was extremely overcooked.
Overall great service and restaurant. Great customer service and would definitely recommend family and friends to this restaurant. Great atmosphere and wonderful setting. The wait staff and hostess was nice and helpful.
I I made reservations for my boyfriend's birthday after a couple of friends telling me this place was really good. Our service was ok. But the food was not good at all and we will not be coming back. My boyfriend ordered ribs that tasted like they were boiled and didn't have hardly any flavor. My mother ordered a burger that tasted gay me according to her. I had the fried chicken the crust was phenomenal but the actual chicken was dry. We did however love our appetizers; the chicken sliders and truffle macaroni and cheese and I liked my side dishes of mashed potatoes and collard greens that came with the fried chicken.
Awesome food and service! Awesome atmosphere! Love the vibe and the area! You won't be disappointed!
Very nice inside. Server was nice. She appeared to be working as server and bartender. She forgot to get us refills but that is understandable, she was the only server.
I will go back again.
This was our first time at Max's and definetly not our last. Interesting menu, great service and fun.
All start by saying the fried chicken was pretty darn good...and I'm not a huge fried chicken fan. But if you like it, this is a good place to get it. My entree, shrimp and grits, was just so-so. My friend's fried egg sandwich was so-so, although he said he enjoyed it. The one thing that irked me about this place was I felt like they placed a switcheroo on my wine. I saw a wine on their menu that is one of my favorites. I ordered it by the glass, but when I tasted it, it did not taste like what I remembered. I decided to order a full bottle just to prove ME wrong, and guess what? The server said that I just had the last glass from the last bottle in their restaurant. Hmmm, sounds kinda suspicious to me. Even if that was the truth, management needs to get on the ball and make sure they have the inventory that is on their wine list. Most likely, I won't return.
Great food, but service was not. Awesome atmosphere and great location.
The food and service were excellent. Our table was ready as soon as we arrived and our server was very attentive to our table. My dining companions had never eaten there before and they fell in love with it. Would highly recommend.
