The fried chicken was great, but be prepared to pay $4 for a drumstick. No merlot by the glass, but others were available. Ordered chef Patrick's short rib which was delicious, but not worth $25, maybe $20. Marcie made the experience good and guitarist was a welcomed relief to the loud dark music that they had on before. Won't be back, just not a good value. Too many other great eateries in Uptown to measure up to.
Our waiter Jerry was the best. He was very tentative. He also made sure to explain the menu and everyone understood.
This was my first time at Max's and it definitely won't be my last!! I loved everything about this place! The food was amazing and the service was outstanding!
Absolutely love Max's. Great ambiance. Casual fun dining experience. Food was delicious and servers are very friendly.
Food was very good. Fried chicken slider starter would've been fine for an entree. Shrimp and grits were very good and the CFS was massive and crispy. Last Judgement wine was good enough that I bought three bottles to take home.
We went to Max's because we had heard great things and they couldn't have been more accurate! Amazing food, great service, and a delightful view! Will always go back! :)
I've heard so much about Max's from friends and social media so when me and my cousin setup a Brunch date I thought this would be a great choice. I made reservations for 12:45 on a Sunday, the place was packed but we were seated right away on the cover outside patio. We started off with the Cinnamon Roll which was served on a hot plate however the Roll was cold and dry. Me and one of my cousins had the chicken and waffles... I can say the chicken was good but the waffles were very hard. My other cousin tried the red velvet pancake which she stated was very dry. She did state the chicken fried steak was seasoned well and very tasty. Our overall experience at Max's was just ok nothing stood out for a repeat visit.
I brought my husband and mother-in-law here for brunch. My husband and I frequent Max's Wine Dive on a regular basis. This time I decided to bring his mom as well. So we chose Max's without a second thought. I ordered my wings CRISPY and did not receive as requested. Although I was disappointed, I did not send my order back or tell the server my order was not as I requested. This was the first time my order was not perfect. With the horror stories of ppl adding EXTRA to food that's been sent back, I kept it to myself. Our server; JaMail was sooo OUTSTANDING!!! Although, my order wasn't perfect, I will come to Max's Wine Dive again and again.
Max's is great for southern comfort cooking, but like southern comfort cooking, the portions are big and the food is filling. The bar is fine for wine and mixed drinks, but the tap beer selections is only so-so. Great for weekdays, but avoid on weekend nights when it gets so scene-y and crowded, it's impossible.
From the appetizers to the entrees, this place has wonderful food. The server was very knowledgeable and friendly...a great choice for dinner!
This place has good food and a good vibe!!! I will definitely be back.
The server we had kept asking if we wanted add-ons (that we didn't know were add-ons) and when we said yes charged us for things that we didn't know we would be charged for. Also charged us for an extra order of bread... it seemed like he was trying to find any little thing that would bring our bill higher. The manager took care of it but it was still a bad experience.
The food was good, but it took over an hour to get to us which was also kind of ridiculous as they weren't that busy.
Our table was the first to be served and the stated that they had started cooking early, the chicken was refried from brunch or cooked in old grease. Not happy with it.
This was an excellent place for Mother's day brunch. The scene was nice, food was delicious and service was great. On special occasions I recommend making reservations.
I had another great experience here. Took my mother and the service was excellent. We were able to get our reservation right away and the setting was comfortable.
This was my second visit. Took along some of my neighbors from Rockwall, Texas. Everyone loved the food, the service was excellent. Will definitely return.
This was my first time at this restaurant and I absolutely enjoyed my visit. The food was amazing and so was the atmosphere. Great food and excellent service. I will definitely be dining here again soon!
I've eaten at this restaurant before with my homegirls and we enjoyed ourselves. Took my Mom here for Mother's Day so that we could try the RVP. They were excellent and huge. The jalepeno grits were good as well and we washed it down with Mirmosa's.
order a salad and max & cheese. was told that i couldn't have dressing on the side for the salad so i just ordered the mac. a little pushy for wait staff. I did love the max & cheese though!
Food is good, just wish they had more healthier options and not everything fired. Service is good, waitress was knowledgeable about beer and wine selection. Out door patio is pretty open and friendly, This place is great for happy hour.
Solid but not awe inspiring comfort food go well with a really stout wine list, cool environment, and nice scene. Some of the vintage champagne was selling near retail, as opposed to a massive markup. The glass list has interesting offerings, and the flights were bold. I'm a wine guy, and will go back for the wine. The egg sandwich, borracho bread, shrimp and grits, piquillo peppers were all good, not great. The coffee at the end of the night was not hot. But again, it's about the wine.
I've been before to Max's however this time the service was incredibly slow. It took 20 mins for someone to acknowledge us then 45 mins for the food to arrive. It became a game for my husband and I to try to catch and get as much out if the waiter as we could when he walked past us. We asked for the check as soon as the food arrived but it still took unreasonably long. Maybe it was just an off night however, it was our anniversary and we just found this not to be the best place for great service on special occasions. The food was just ok.
The service is terrible!!! The special fried chicken is no better than KFC
The food was awesome, I had the Red Velvet Pancakes and my daughter had the Creme Brulee French Toast, they were both excellent. I wished that the service would have been better, glasses were left empty, it seemed like after the food was dropped off we were left to fend for ourselves. I do take into account that it was Easter and they were very busy. I would definately give Max's another try.
Came for Easter brunch, excellent & interesting food with superb service! Fun atmosphere, great vibe for family or friends! We'll be back for sure
The chickent and waffles were delish- something about that fried chicken kept me wanting more! And they go great with Mimosas :D. Lots of options to choose from!
I love this place. Once a month I come here for brunch!
We headed to Max's wine dive after dinner for my best friend's batchelorette party. We had a reservation for 7. We were seated at a terrible table between the door and the bar. Servers kept bumping into the girls on the side of the table next to the bar. Because of the noise (mostly from McKinney ave, but also the other diners) we couldn't hear anything. We were shouting the whole time. Then they ran out of the champagne we were drinking that had been chilled. Really? You're a wine bar. Shouldn't you have multiple bottles chilled if you have a table where three people are drinking it? Our server was a bit annoying, but that could've been my annoyance with the establishment spilling over. I WON'T be back. Ever.
Great experience per usual! The food and the service was exceptional. This is one of our must haves when heading south for a night out.
We went there on a whim on a Thurs night & the food was quite good-extra large portions, so be prepared to shar your entree, or skip on appetizers!
Our waiter was very nice and went out of his way to accommodate us. However, the hostesses were very rude, which is surprising because they are the 1st impression.
I love this place because of it's location, it's diverse crowd, it's food and ambiance...
maxs wine dive is always a great choice!
Server was okay, he could have been more attentive.
Good chicken and collard greens. Great atmosphere.
Our food came out pretty fast and it was the way we ordered it, oh and it actually came out hot! The breakfast sandwich was awesome but huge. So if your starving get that if not then most def it's great to share! The grits are amazing and that all I have to say about that! Overall it was a good dining experience!
Maxs is one of our favorite places in West Village! Everything I've ever had on the menu was fantastic. My favorites are the sliders and the fried chicken - - make sure you ask for the Chipotle honey!!!!!! It puts the chicken totally over the edge from great to unbelievable! Definitely make a reservation on OpenTable if you plan on going on a weekend night, though!
Very pleased with our food and service. We will be going back soon.
Love this place, however the chicken wing were weirdly big this time I'm use to the organic chicken wings which are ALOT smaller but over all still lunch this place.. Don't forget mimosa at brunch
We went here on our date night. It was our first time and both really enjoyed it! The service quick and friendly! The food was amazing! I got shrimp & grits and he got chicken dried steak. I will definitely be back to try their famous fried chicken and explore more wines!
