Max's is always consistent, dependable, and delicious. All the Max restaurants are wonderful. The staff is well-trained and want to make their customers happy. I had filet w/ crab and Bernaise. My favorite. The onion soup is a meal as well as the fried calamari. The salads are big enough for two. The food is plentiful and always delicious. My husband and I dine there often.
had a wonderful dinner with husband. it was his birthday ! We sat in bar and had shrimp cocktail (excellent) and I'm very fussy about my shrimp! The bartenders were very nice. Dinner was exceptional, a bit of a wait for dinner, but the food was worth it. Our waitress was extremely attentive and brought dessert for husband (the plate said happy birthday ) w/ wonderful crème brule in addition to a card signed by staff! It was lovely and we cant wait to go back again!
My fish and chips were excellent and perfectly cooked, as I would have cooked them at home. However, my two guests had a very similar dislike for the same rosoto dish. One friend said he would not come back again and the other was compted by the Manager and Partner and stated that he would return. I personally like Max's and will return again.
Had made a reservation; told the hostess on arrival; she immediately left without comment and proceeded to seat other people. When I asked what the problem was; she said there were others ahead of us. There was no one in sight! Finally we were seated and given menus. About ten minutes later the waiter arrived and asked what we wanted to drink. We all asked for water with lemon. I asked that an order for spinach & and artichoke dip be put in right away for a table appetizer. The waiter proceeded to then wait on several other tables; not ordering our appetizer. In about fifteen minutes he returned with the water, no ice, and took our orders. The appetizer arrived about 30 minutes later, and the main order 15 minutes after that. In all it took us over an hour and a half to have a simple lunch. The manager came to the table and inquired how our meal hnd gone; I told him very badly and explained. He returned about ten minutes later and said there would be no charge for our meal. A very busy period was blamed (Sunday afternoon at 12:30). I suspect that the real problem was we had not ordered any drinks, the main profit item for a restaurant, and were purposely ignored.
I had a cobb salad, the chicken was dry and unseasoned and it wasn't until the server brought out my food that he informed me they had no avocado (the main reason I get a cobb salad). Aside from the food, we sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful Fall day. The drinks were GREAT, and the customer service was really awesome! I would come back and try something different to eat.
We have been "Max" lovers for years... and with the "loyalty" card they reward you for that! We celebrated 2 birthdays and everyone was very satisfied. I accidentally dropped a cashmere wrap in the parking lot - they gave me number of security - I called and they found it and held it for me, who could ask for anything more - THANK YOU!!
This is the weak link in the Max's chain, unfortunately. The menu is nice, but the food is uneven. Steaks were delivered not as ordered and and even after new steaks were prepared were not the quality one would expect of a Max's establishment. The baked potato was dry, and even the cheese bacon whatever that accompanied the potato was disappointing.
To the restaurant's credit, they took off the cost of the salads we had ordered as a gesture.
Service and food were both excellent. Unfortunately had a so-so experience a few months ago, but very glad to see a rebound in both quality of food and service to the levels we'd previously experienced at Max's. Interesting specials and local craft beers, too.
Have been to Max's many times and were meeting old friends so location was convenient and we always found Max's to be consistent. Had a chicken dish served on top of spinach and polenta which was a nice sized serving and done well, skin crispy and meat still moist. Rest of the party had prime rib, fish and chips and striped bass. Staple fare prepared well and served efficiently. Our waitress was great and even asked our friends for a photo id as the credit card used required one something our friend said no one really ever does.
