Max's Oyster Bar Ratings and Reviews
We enjoyed a delicious Valentine dinner. We started with oysters and pink champagne, then shared the salad special - arugula with blood oranges - then onto our entrees, swordfish and scallops. Both cooked perfectly, and loved the butternut spaetzel! Splurged on dessert, as it was Valentine’s Day! A yummy chocolate cake with layers of chocolate mousse and cream. Great night!
My first impression of the restaurant wasn’t great because the duo at the front desk greeted us in a lackluster way and although we had a reservation they made us hang around waiting. Our waiter, Ron, however was outstanding in every way and a real credit to the restaurant. The Lobsterfest was also outstanding. Good selections at a reasonable price. Overall it was a good experience.
Brunch menu was quite good! Our server was super nice and very attentive. Getting the food and drinks was a bit slow but not his doing - it was the transition from lunch to dinner timing so he was handling a lot of tables and I am sure staff in other areas was also transitioning. Had the mussels, lobster tempura, asparagus/crab frittata and lobster benedict. It was delicious! Always great at this place.
Lobsterfest menu was fantastic. App, entree and dessert for $30. Meal was great. Service was a little choppy. Pretty crowded and most everyone seemed to order from special menu. Our waiter was nice which balanced out issues.
We will look for this special menu next year.
We went for lunch. I have been here many times and I am never disappointed. The food and service were excellent. The gumbo (a daily special) was as good as one I had in New Orleans the week before. The seafood is always fresh and cooked to perfection. I will be back.
This restaurant is one not to be missed especially at Happy Hour! The food and drinks were top notch and so was the excellent service. The Bartender and Waitress Vanessa went out of their way to please us including providing us with two glasses of champagne and two chocolate cake balls on a stick which were so satisfying and special.
First of all, the reason we came here was for the Oysters which were magnificent - we had two plates of 6 as well as other items: Louisiana Shrimp, Salmon Poke, and Fried Calamari! Each dish was wonderful. The price for each dish and drink was $5 which is very reasonable.
The drinks were wonderful - we had a Vertigo (Amaro | ginger beer| lime) and the Pom Margarita (El Jimador tequila | lime juice | pom juice).
We are definitely coming back for dinner real soon!!! It was such an enjoyable evening out!
They even treated us to a special appetizer - seafood cassoulet (which was OK but needed some spices to liven it up). I would pass on this dish until they improve it. Cassoulet was never one of my favorites anyway!
