Max's of Burlingame
- Common areas deep cleaned daily
Outstanding service which really made a typical meal here wonderful.
AMAZING waiter wish I could remember his name, Filipino man
Delicious sandwiches, potato salad and dessert! Can't wait to go back
The chicken marsala was delicious; as always! Shaun is awesome... along with everyone @ Max's. We always recommend Max's to family & friends. Thank you!
We have always enjoyed having lunch at Max's. This trip, having ordered the corned beef/pastrami combo, the sandwich was served with, yikes, four thin slices of meat, not the bulging sandwich to which we have been accustomed. I doubled up one half of the sandwich with the meat from the other half. Then I pointed out to the waiter our disappointment. He returned a few minutes later with another half sandwich prepared the way to which we were accustomed. He pointed out that there was a new chef in the kitchen. Fine. Newbies make mistakes. However, it seems to me that management should have instructed a newly-hired sandwich maker how to prepare a sandwich for which the restaurant is known. In any case, it ended well and we will return.
Food was lukewarm at best and way overpriced! 10 bucks for a cup of soup… sad!
Max's has changed ownership and the food has gone down the drain. The food was fair at best. Service, even though there were very few people, was awful. Several times we had to go into the restaurant to get someone to take our order or asking why one person's dish hadn't been brought out. The food is fair, and it's the Jewish deli it used to be. Don't bother eating there. We won't.
Service was great like the dining room.
The chairs snd booths need reupholstered-ouch
Max's wasn't like it was decades ago. The restaurant, worn out, like old shoe. The food, ok to fine, but over priced!
It's wonderful that Max's has outside dining. Inside, especially when the live music is going, it can be fun but crowded.
Fernando greeted my family with open arms as he always does. Great guy to have on your team
Food is way over priced given the quality. I used to go to Max's a lot, for two decades. It is now pricing itself right out of business. For the $, I could have gone to a gourmet restaurant with much higher quality food.
It was close to empty on a Saturday night.
The outdoor seating is out front, which is covid safe, but ugly. There used to be all year round outdoor seating in back along the Bay, which was much nicer.
The hostess did not check us in. After that, the service was good.
I had a maple glazed salmon that was much too sweet.
Had very few gluten free options for appetizers, salads, main courses. No gluten-free deserts. The sandwiches for which Max's was known are now on the last page of the menu, if I recall correctly. It's formerly famous Rye Bread and rolls were not offered.
With all of the restaurants around, I can no longer recommend Max's.
Good old reliable Max's for deli-style food. Our waiter was courteous, efficient and prompt. Overall, good dining experience.
I was delighted to meet my friend there for lunch in their outdoor patio area. I always enjoy Max's. I don't know why, but when we were seated at my 1 pm arrival time, I got an email from Open Table saying they it hoped that I enjoyed my visit. It also said that points for my visit were not applicable. Our server didn't know anything about it, and I wonder why.
Overall, Nicole, our server, was excellent and very accommodating. My friend and I had a very peaceful, relaxing lunch.
The food was greasy.
The food was salty.
The gin and tonic was good.
The beer was good.
Nice place and within walking distance from my hotel. Provided an excellent wine pour.
Amazing, incredible experience. Service was top notch and burger, sandwich and dessert selections were all wonderful. Job well done.
We came here for Father's Day breakfast. There were hardly any people when we arrived but it felt like the service was slow from the start. Later more people but it took such a long time to get the second refill of coffee that we requested that we were ready to go before getting it. My husband's meal came out lukewarm and he said it didn't taste very good -- he ordered a vegetable frittata.
We look forward to eating at Max’s before we leave on an airplane trip. The Reuben sandwich did not disappoint. The Caesar salad and berry tart dessert were also delicious.
Service was super slow.
Stayed in a nearby hotel and had dinner and breakfast at Max's. Food was excellent, fast and large portions. Highly recommend!
Hadn't been to Max's since I retired, used to be my favorite Rueben stop on the way to SFO for business travel. Well, it didn't disappoint. the Ruebens were just as delicious as I remembered. Piled high with pastrami and cheese, could have had a little more sour kraut for my liking, but nonetheless, it was yummy. The quinoa salad, was more of a tomato salad with some quinoa sprinkle on top. Not what I was expecting, but fresh and yummy just the same. Thanks for the memories Max!
we ate inside where perhaps 10 people were seated in the entire inside of the restaurant and the waitress only came to us to get out order and that was it. We had to wave another staff person to get us more water, or coffee and then we had to ask someone to get our check, which she brought to us. But did not come back to pick up the check with payment. We had to go searching for her to pay. She was completely incompetent.
We sat on the back patio was sheltered with heat lamps
Max's is always my go-to restaurant. Never been let down.
Food was great, service was fast.
Was fabulous experience great bar tender and waiter food was great
I still gave a 20% tip, because that’s what I do, but the service was less than desire. I problably will not purchase from or return to this location again.
Delicious food and wonderful services. Highly recommend!
Birthday lunch for my dear friend Linda.
Lovely to sit outside in your tent, where Sonya waited on us attentively and brought a lighted candle on top of Linda’s dessert.
Food was fabulous, Sonya kept the decaf flowing while my friend and I laughed about old times.
Thank you fir Max’s!!
We have eaten at Max's several times in the past. The foods, service and atmosphere were on point! Thank You again was a wonderful experience.
A mixed bag, max at the opera house never lets me down. In Burlingame they were short or understaffed and it affected everything. The ruben was good, my son's Salmon was perfect.
Max's did a wonderful job handling a family get together allowing us to eat together while still minding all of the COVID precautions. Couldn't ask for better service !!
I have been dining at Max's for many years. The waiters & waitresses are very professional.
The menu has a wide selection and the food is very good.
Well the service was excellent the corn beef and pastrami were really tough and the coleslaw had no flavor and was very watery. Call the chairs were ripped up and had to search for ones where we wouldn’t get hurt.
Great food and portions.
Great, but a little cold outside. We eat inside .
Open table was wrong on the booking. I booked for 10:30am online and the restaurant didn’t open until 11am. We had to move to another restaurant
Food was good, although they seem to be out of normal menu items. Sat outdoors, meh, just the parking lot next to the freeway.
