Great food! Great Music! Great Energy! Great Location! I can tell this will be one of my new favorite plsces! Tequila over Corona Virus any day! We will be back! Thank you for a wonderful night!
Wonderful experience! Another great restaurant from the Atlas Group. I must say they do it right when they open a restaurant. Our waiter was wonderful and the restaurant had a nice vibe despite that folks were already being told not to go out to restaurants. The ceviche and carnitas were to die for. The only negative I would say, is that it was extremely expensive for tacos and quacamole.
Our service was kind and informative, and dinner was full of spice and life. We strongly suggest the fajitas.
The ceviche did not taste like ceviche, the lobster tacos were small and just ok but cost $30. The drinks were watered down and had little flavor. The steak tacos and guacamole were good, but let’s be honest we could’ve gotten much better for much less at La Calle or Clavel.
Sadly, very mediocre.
Our server was great when he was around....but forgot to bring out sauces so my husband had to wait a long time before he started eating and he was MIA when we needed to pay. My short ribs were very salty. The “worlds best margarita” prepared table side had so much ice it was hard to drink in the glass that was used.
Guacamole was excellent as was my Malbec.
Atmosphere is a little cheesy. Not what we were expecting at The Four Seasons.
No reason to ever go back. 😕
Beautiful and fun!
Another winner from Atlas Restaurant Group ... get one the platters which are more than enough for 2 to share!
Food was excellent. I just wish they had a few more choices. Ambiance was fantastic - you can actually have a good conversation while dining. But we went at lunch so I can't say how it would be in the evening. I will definitely come back again.
Wow I am glad I came to Maximón! The service was impeccable Nd the food over exceeded my expectations! I ordered the queso fundido with crab, fried fish tacos, fried chicken tacos (spice level was amazing!) and I ordered their famous churros and devoured them!!!! For drinks- the waitress recommended the margaritas and I’m glad she did. I ordered 2! I will most definitely come back and go after work to hang out at their outdoor bar. Perfect spot for a date and even meeting up for business meeting or happy hour with your friends.
Was the best Mexican food I’ve ever had.
Had a great time. Wonderful food and environment.
Although the food is expensive and the servers attempt to "up-sell" diners with eloquent descriptions of dishes, the restaurant is fantastic. I was given special treatment on my birthday (including a complimentary churro dish), and I left the restaurant stuffed with exotic and flavorful foods. The mixture of salsas is fun and delicious, and the food is prepared fresh and served beautifully. If you want to try an assortment of items, go with anything BUT the platters. They are filling with a TON of meat.
Best churros in Maryland!
Birthday with a nice dessert and a shot of tequila.
Delicious food and excellent service.
We were in from out of town and saw great reviews and I couldn’t wait to try it. I loved the ambiance and everyone was friendly and nice. Appetizers were good until we ordered our meal. My husband and I had the fried chicken tacos and after he ate half of one He noticed it was rare. When I had checked mine it was also rare. At that point we stopped eating and just didn’t feel like or sing anything else. Pretty much killed our appetite. It is a really nice place and it was a shame that we had this experience.
Great early or late night spot! Latin Music in an elegant venue but not fancy.
Server seemed to rush us. Kept "appearing" to interrupt conversation, but then wasn't around when we were ready to order main course!
Food and drink were DELICIOUS!!
The setting is nice - casual elegance. The food is excellent - some of the most creative cerviche I have ever had. The service was superb. We have eaten there twice, both on weeknights so things were fairly sedate. So why only 4 stars? How can a Mexican-South American fusion restaurant only have two bottles of wine barely under $50 and the rest $50+? By using Alex Smith's wine coordinator, that's how. South American has many wines that are 90+ points and retail for $10-$20 which means with a 2X markup they should be $30-$40. We had an excellent Uruguayan white but this $18 bottle retail was $48. And no it is not because of the Four Seasons, Atlas does this everywhere.
I really looked forward to trying this restaurant but I have to admit it was quite a disappointing experience. There were several off-putting moments throughout our evening, starting with a fire that took place in one of the private dining rooms. That's correct- a fire. Apparently there is a fire place in one of the private dining rooms and it had malfunctioned catching the room on fire which then had to be extinguished by the Baltimore City Fire Department. Now I realize that this is an unusual occurrence and by itself cannot be considered when judging a restaurant. However, the restaurants response to this incident was abysmal. They proceeded to open several doors and windows in the restaurant which is understandable given all the smoke, however it required everyone to put winter jackets and coats on because it is, after all, February. A trail of fire fighters came and went for the next hour, hammering, sawing and removing debris. They had to turn on all of the house lights which ruined any remaining ambiance. Then we experienced a very bizarre pacing of our meals. We received one entree with our appetizers, then waited 45 minutes for the rest of our entrees. The entree that arrived with our appetizers was the fish taco and it was completely raw and cold upon biting into it. The waiter removed it from the table with tongs. A group of individuals entered through the opened doors riding electric scooters, at which point they zig zagged throughout the restaurant before the bar tender began screaming at them. As the waiter passed out our entrees we ordered 4 margaritas, with the intent of enjoying those with our meals. The drinks arrived 25 minutes later after we had eaten our meals and they had cleared the table. In our winter coats under the bright stadium lighting, smoke in the air, we finished our 20 dollar margaritas and paid a $600 check. Nothing was discounted, comped, not even a manager spoke with us about our experience. No- I don't recommend Maximon.
We had a wonderful time, the food was phenomenal and the service was great.
It's a good place, though for the value, a bit overpriced.
Great place. Food was ok. Opt for a seat away from the stage as people tend to dance right next to your table and that can be annoying but overall it was a solid place to go in Baltimore
Came to Maximón with my fiancé for our Valentine’s Day dinner, and I couldn’t have been more impressed. From the host to the dessert the experience was amazing. The ambiance of the restaurant is the exact fit for the Latin cuisine theme they apply, made you feel like you were on the beach at Miami (in a hotel that is). Our server Noelle was marvelous and attentive as she guided us through the menu for a tremendous experience. When we first walked in we were seated by Jordan, who at first we thought was the host, was actually the manager, and after learning this we were further impressed because we’ve never been to a place with such a hands on Leader. From the amazing Margaritas to the Carne Asada, it was the best restaurant experience I have ever had, great service, amazing food. 10/10 across the board.
Personable and knowledgeable wait staff, delicious food
Great food and atmosphere
The place is beautiful but the food is not that great
Amazing experience. First time there since they opened. Atlas group scored another hit!!
My first visit was only for drinks on a Saturday night and I loved the vibe, decor, and live music. This time we went for dinner on a Monday night. Did not expect it to be crowded and knew there wouldn’t be a live band, but it turned out to be a very dull dining experience. When we walked in, the bar area was extremely dark not in a good way. It almost seemed like they were closed type of dark, a completely different atmosphere from the first visit. There was no live band which was expected, but vaguely a sound of music in the background specially in the bar area. As for the food, both guacamoles on the menu were good. I had the red pozole as a starter. It was not served very warm, and the flavor was underwhelming. We also ordered the portobello fajita, giant prawns, and the 2lbs lobster dish to share. Unfortunately, the only dish I truly enjoyed was the portobello fajita and the churros con chocolate for dessert. I wanted to love it, but the food more than anything fell short of my expectations.
The $68 prawns were mealy and not even eatable. You are paying for the presentation not the food bc they light it on fire but it tasted terrible
The food was exceptional.
Fantastic service! Loved the atmosphere. The food was very good but overpriced for that type of food. We will definitely be back for drinks but unlikely we will be back for a meal.
Service and recommendations were outstanding! The fundido with chorizo was unique and very tasty. Split 4 tacos - wagu steak and fried chicken were the best and not found anywhere else. Shrimp/crab was very good, followed by mushroom. The mushroom was flavorful w/brown butter, but would be better at half the spice. Great selection of margaritas, beautiful atmosphere and spectacular view. A great experience overall - we will definitely visit again.
Maximón is similar to the other Atlas group restaurants in regards to its ambiance. The restaurant itself is beautiful, but the food is less than impressive. Everything tasted the same; a lot of spice, but no real flavor. The service was good and the staff was very polite; however, I probably wouldn’t return. Maybe for live music and drinks, but certainly not for the food itself.
It’s was amazing! Great service and the food my delicious
The beet salad was delicious, and our server was very attentive.
Food was fantastic !! Spicy and very authentic .
We were a table of 8 people in the far back room . Unfortunately we were not at a round table , making conversation difficult . And then there was the noise.... the restaurant was so loud that I could not hear the person sitting across from me.
One hour wait for a 7:15 reservation! Unacceptable! Food and service were excellent but another Baltimore one and done!!!!!
Food was so so
This is the first time we've been to this new space since Wit and Wisdom. We loved the intimacy of the space. The booths were a nice addition and the bar area much more intimate. No more smell of the wood burning stove. Our server was excellent. The $18 Gin & Tonic was not very good and I had to send back a martini that didn't have any resemblance to a martini - flavor or otherwise - it was served in an aperitif glass. Sent it back, got a gin martini that was so-so. Now to the food - we shared the flounder ceviche which was delicious, so we thought this is going to be great. Then we shared the colossal crab "soup". If we had known about the "broth" being added to it, we would have asked that we decide how much we want to add - way too spicy and lost any flavor of crab and the other ingredients next to the crab. Couldn't finish it, then the entrees, my spouse ordered the lamb chops - they were ALL fat, there was maybe a couple pieces of lamb meet that could be eaten - $56 per piece? Then I had the pork chop. It looked great - however, there was no evidence in the flavor that it actually was pork. Tasteless. Can't say I'd go back. We're locals so it would have been nice to have that option.
