Eight years ago, Maximo Bistrot started as a restaurant for the thinking and execution of dishes from a wide range of techniques with the best of local ingredients; a warmful place that communicated our love for food. After a long and heartwarming road at our current location, we thought for the need of moving. Our new home, located at Alvaro Obregon 65 bis - a much wider space where gleams of natural light shine upon the surface-, is carefully assembled by Gabriela's meticulous look, and a kitchen built within Eduardo García's early memories, while living as an inmigrant in a barn in Ohio. Despite this big change, our principles initially founded remain the same: to offer food that distinguishes the best of local products.

La comida era sabrosa en el momento, pero el servicio no estaba al mismo calibre. Además, me enfermé al día siguiente. Honestamente, no puedo recomendar el restaurant a un amigo o colega.

Food absolutely amazing as always. This time the service was very poor 😔. Many waiters coming to the table without one fixed to you, some times they didn’t explain the plate and they were very serious, not rude, but they look like bored or something. Sommelier was good as well. Anyway still one of my favorite places!

La comida siempre ha sido el gran asset de Máximo desde Tonalá y así lo mantiente. Aunque el servicio ha mejorado mucho, el restaurante ha cambiado su estilo de algo mas casual y además el precio ya es demasiado: está excedido.

We finally managed to get a spot at this hot place. The staff was helpful and moved our reservation as soon as a spot opened up.
We were welcomed and seated by a very warm woman. The waiting staff as well as the manager were very professional and kind.

We loved everything that we ordered, except one particular starter. Seeing that it has not been eaten up, the staff asked us whether we did not like it. We confessed that it was not our favorite. Lo and behold, they apologized and asked us to replace it.

Everything else was top notch including our cocktails.

Would definitely revisit!

Great food and presentation. Flavors stood out in each plate we ordered. The onions with cheese is spectacular. The tuna appetizer was delicious. Goat cheese dessert had an incredible mix of flavors.

Loved it! Went to a bunch of different places in CDMX and this was the only one where I wanted to book again immediately. Loved the look of the tasting menu and the a la carte, the fried chicken a personal fave. If I came back would go for the wagyu and save more room for dessert.

I really wanted to like it. The main service was not so good - the assistants were great. My server disappeared for a long while after first greeting me. After ordering my menu items in Spanish and pointing at the exact item I wanted, I was brought the wrong dish and instead of changing out the dish, both the manager and the server aggressively suggested I just keep what they brought me.

The menu has some creative choices and the food was beautifully presented.

I just didn’t feel like this lived up to its reputation.

The ambience is lovely and the food was delicious. Definitely our best meal in CDMX and one of our best overall. Only 2 downsides- didn’t love the dessert from the tasting menu and the bench seating was uncomfortable. Both easily fixable with 2 pillows and I think the cheesecake is supposed to be amazing.

Perdió su esencia al ampliarse. La comida está bien, nada extraordinario. Es caro para el tipo de comida que ofrece, por ese precio prefiero ir a Pujol o a Quintonil.

Great food, space and staff. Really enjoyed the food and the service here, but note, very heavy on meat. We had asked the waiters about whether a dish included a meat and was met with an ambiguous response and ultimately received dishes with meat slices and bacon. We put them aside so no problem but having had an opportunity to substitute would’ve made the experience better!

Servicio muy inferior al nivel que supuestamente tiene el restaurante. La comida original sin duda. Unos platos estupendos. Otros, solo buenos, no tan bien lograda la mezcla de ingredientes.

Unos de los mejores platillos que eh probado en Mi vida! El servicio fue espectacular y todo que recomendaron fue delicioso! El especial de hongo morel me dejo sin palabras! El helado de cabra con pistachio oliva y guayaba, wow! Excelente combinación Gracias al Chef Eduardo García y su equipo!

10/10 recommend if in Mexico

The food was mediocre. Presentation beautiful, the taste of the food itself was a bit bland. We were definitely expecting more. We did the tasting menu which was a variety of the food they have to offer, but again we were not wow’d by any dish.

The service was also very odd. None of the wait staff was very attentive. Every course that came out felt rushed.
Like they were waiting for the table to turn. We actually had to say some thing to slow down the service.

I will say that the busser, was fantastic. She was much more attentive than any of the waiters.

For the price, I don’t think the meal was worth it. I think there are a lot of other better options, for value and taste.

Will never come back. Our reservation was for a table inside, the manager gave us a table by the street. Very rude staff. The food was below standard. All the food was brought in different time. Not recommended.

Have been eating there for at least five years and it has always been one of my favorite MC restaurants. My experience last Thursday was was so horrible I will never go back. The noise was so loud I could not talk with my friends, the service was so rushed my plates were removed before I finished eating, and the new location is cold and uninviting.

I’m probably going to be one of the few dissenters about the Maximo experience. While the food was good it wasn’t outstanding - I had the stone crab tostada and couldn’t taste the crab because it was buried in whatever purée the chef created. I had the wagyu beef tongue which was very good, but not as succulent as I was expecting. The central issue was with the service. I was Dining alone. I was not given bread, and then my second course came while I was in the middle of my first course. If you charge a certain amount of money then you establish a certain set of expectations - that’s rookie mistake stuff for a fine dining place. It left me with the impression that they wanted to get rid of me as soon as possible. If you aspire to excellence then the single diner should be treated as well as a table for 10.
