About this restaurant

  • Great for scenic views
  • Romantic
  • Good for special occasions
Maximilien is a contemporary French restaurant. This eatery is located on the iconic Puget Sound of Elliot Bay in Seattle. Diners are given a spectacular panoramic view of the nearby Olympic Mountains and can watch passers by enjoy the nearby pier complete with Ferris wheel. Maximilien also offers a large wraparound patio for diners to enjoy their meals outside. Maximilien's menu focuses on making fine French cuisine approachable to typical American diners. Executive Chef Christian Potvin has created a unique menu by taking locally-sourced Washington ingredients and cooking them using classic French techniques. Appetizers at Maximilien's include fresh oysters on the half shell and escargot in garlic and parsley-butter. Dinner options include pan-seared Painted Hills natural beef tenderloin, White bean cassoulet with Touloise sausage and a duo of Hudson Valley duck leg confit with seared duck breast, Brussel sprouts, carrots, Chantrelles and green peppercorn sauce.

Very very rude and unfriendly. I have never written a bad review but this place is THE WORST service you will ever experience, especially at that price. And don't even think about asking for a substitution based on allergies, they don't let you even finish your question. Go to the Four Seasons, just a beautiful of a view, better food, pricing and amazing service!!

The food was delicious, creative and fresh. We tried the Penn Cove mussels with side salad and the vegetable couscous with wild mushrooms. Beautifully presented, excellent, non-intrusive but attentive service and they even moved us to a window seat when it became available. It's my first experience there, and we will definitely go again for special occasions. Prices are reasonable and the views across Puget Sound were spectacular.

Never expected this in the Pike Place Market...a menu that is among the best in Seattle! Started with the smoked salmon appetizer, then split a salad and then ordered the scallops and the halibut. All were amazing and the service was first class. Highly recommend.

Maximilien is a favorite - always delivers a beautiful meal with lovely service. The only disappointment this visit was the attitude of the maître 'd who audibly chastised us, after being shown our table, we should have told him our dining partners hadn't yet arrived. And we were supposed to know that how? Understandable policy for walk-ups, but we had a reservation. Thankfully his poor form was erased by a good meal with good friends.

We had a fantastic experience here for our Anniversary celebration. The food was wonderful and the server, although very busy was attentive. We had a wonderful table on the patio with a fantastic view of the Seattle waterfront and a spectacular sunset to boot. We had the Salmon and the Duck and both were fantastic. We had one snag when the souffle that we ordered was delivered to our table in a very unsatisfactory state (sad, since we loved it when we had it before) but when we complained we were graciously provided with an apology and 2 complementary glasses of champagne and desert. This was our second trip to Maximilien and we will certainly be back again as soon as we can.

I have been to Maximilien many times and have always enjoyed the food and bistro ambiance. The duck confit is always out of this world. Will be back soon.

Very pleasant dinner on the patio. The menu is somewhat short, but everything is as it should be in a French bistro. We had salade vert and filet de Flétan. The salad was a bit wilted, but the halibut was great. Seafood, steak, and an assortment of starters, all well-prepared. A decent wine list. Great wait staff. Sitting out on the patio overlooking Elliot Bay. What more could you ask for?
