On the corner of York Blvd and Aldama Street, in Highland Park Los Angeles, there is a place where “Kinda” feels progressive, where the “Old School” is recognized as a source of inspiration and where a chef’s ideas of quality and playfulness redefine what a neighborhood Italian American restaurant and pizzeria ought to be. Chef Andre Guerrero challenges assumptions about Italian American fare, satisfying cravings for quality while remaining affordable. With Maximiliano, Guerrero continues on his mission to elevate classic dining traditions by doing things the right way; with care, creativity and above all a respect for great food.

Maximiliano Ratings and Reviews
The reviews are pretty accurate. I enjoyed the appetizers more so than the main meal, and I REALLY enjoyed the desserts!! They do not have a full bar, which I wish I had paid attention to that little detail. The server was super busy with about 3 big parties of 6 or more people, so understand he was spread super thin... but we made reservations and I'm sure those people did too... they should have staffed accordingly. Or placed us in different sections so another staff member could serve us.
We love this place for special occasions, if family and friends are in town, or just for a nice dinner out. The staff is great and it is very kid friendly while keeping the ambience warm and romantic. It's great for a family night out while still feeling like an adult.
Came here for NYE dinner. The restaurant was fairly full when we arrived, but we had reservations and were promptly seated. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We ordered a pizza to start and it was delicious. I highly recommend trying one of their pizzas.
For dinner, we each ordered one of their pasta options. I ordered a seafood pasta that was a special that night and it was amazing. The seafood was well cooked, as was the pasta.
We've been here before many times and we are never disappointed.
Our group of six had a lovely time enjoying very attentive service, delightful food & drink! My Italian BF couldn't bring himself to leave a single drop of sauce after finishing his fresh Tagliatelle....he said it was as good as his Aunts' would make when visiting Italy growing up!
The food is usually good, but this last time things didn’t seem to taste as good as we remember. The service was pretty disappointing! Our server was quite forgetful and it seemed as though they were short staffed because we couldn’t seem to get anyone’s attention for our requests! :((
My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate our anniversary, and also my birthday. It was a Wednesday night, and was pretty slow only a few tables sat.
Our waitress must have been trying to fit one last table in her shift, because we were greeted within 2 minutes (great) and immediately asked if we were ready to order. We were only ready to order waters and had not even glanced at the menu.
Upon returning with waters, we were asked if we were ready to put food in again, and 4 MORE TIMES within 10 minutes...
It was a little uncomfortable, especially since we were looking for a place to come in, relax, have a bite, enjoy each other.
I have never felt so rushed in a restaurant setting, and I was so disappointed because it was a special day for us both.
The food was incredible, wine selection great. But unfortunately I felt so uncomfortable I would not recommend it to any of my friends - she made us feel like we were more a nuisance than a guest.
Maximiliano's is always consistently good. Nice wine and beer selection. The side dishes and appetizers can make up a meal if you're not craving pasta or pizza. I haven't eaten the poultry or meat, but many of my friends have. They say the roasted chicken is crave-worthy dish. All of the desserts are delicious and fresh.
I had the seafood linguine. I was told by the server that the noodles were handmade. However, the noodles were not thoroughly cooked so I could not taste the freshness as well as the creaminess that fresh handmade noodles should have. The food overall was salty. The bread chips that served with the pasta were too hard and chewy. The ambience was great with nice layout and decoration.
I've reviewed this several times, so not much to add. Our service on this occasion was slow at first, but warm and friendly. I am concerned that their red wines are not being stored at the proper temperature (they've always been served on the warm side) so although they have some interesting, aged choices, probably best to stick with young whites. Anyway, good, solid neighborhood standby with a diverse enough menu to please most everyone.
Had such a great experience here. We sat outside and it was the perfect atmosphere for our triple date of friend's meeting for the first time. The string lights and surrounding plants made it very nice yet intimate and comfortable. Inside was louder and hoppin and definitely recommend the outside seating.
Love the authentic food. I've taken out of state guests several times lately and you've never let us down...a great introduction to the L A food scene!!
I've actually gotten used to the noise level and it lends to more private conversations. An all- around winner! You'll see us again soon.
Maximiliano never disappoints.
The food is great, the space itself is well designed and nicely laid out.
It does get a bit noisy inside on a Friday night, but that is part of the place's vibe.
The patio outside is very charming.
Maximiliano has a small. It very nice wine selection.
Their pork chop is incredible.
They also have a gluten free pizza crust that is quite good.
