Maxie's serves regional Southern cuisine from across the American South, including Cajun, Creole, and Carolina Low Country inspirations. Walking into Maxie's has been described as walking into a party in full swing — a boisterous, casual dining experience with an up-beat, lively feel to it. We serve craft cocktails, classic Southern cocktails, and local craft beer. We're conveniently located in the center of the Milwaukee metro area, right off I-94 and just south of Blue Mound Road.

Maxie's is home to Milwaukee's Happiest Happy Hour from 4-6 p.m., when Fresh-Shucked Oysters are just $1 and drinks are a Buck Off! Our BBQ spans from Eastern North Carolina, to East Texas Brisket, and St. Louis-Style Spare Ribs. Check out our Fried Chicken dinner (switching out for Fish Fry on Fridays), fresh seafood like Blackened Catfish and Pecan-Crusted Trout, and save room for dessert!

    When reservations were made we made note that we were celebrating an anniversary and requested a corner table upstairs…they sat us right in front of the kitchen and bathroom doors! 🧐 there were plenty of other tables so we requested another table, but what were they thinking??? Fried green tomatoes were excellent! Chicken was overdone, otherwise good; expected the cornbread to be warm-it wasn’t. Short ribs were ok…didn’t expect them to come sliced…

    The front of the house was not good, we felt like we were an inconvenience when checking in with our reservation at 4:45pm. Our server Scottie went above and beyond and made up for the hostess. Scottie was very attentive, had great drink/food suggestions and always had a smile of his which made us feel so welcome!

    We went in a week night around 7:30p. Not many diners at that time. Our waitress was cordial but not attentive. After she brought our appetizers she disappeared for 10 minutes.

    As a southern, the chicken was overcooked and the breading was dark and not golden, fried green tomatoes needed a lighter different batter, trout was great!!! Red mashed Potatoes were like glue, oyster were good but a lot of small ones,. I was here 8 years ago and the menu was better and food much better.

    The food is always excellent. Happiest Happy Hour is for real ($1 oysters that are excellent, reduced price apps, $1 off drinks). The portions are large. The service is always good and today it was outstanding; Riah is fabulous! One of our favorite places. I wish they had more regular salad choices, but that's a minor point.

    I had a tough time finding an item to order. Few lower carb choices on the menu. Lots of fried food and large servings of rice and beans. The service was excellent. Atmosphere was great. Not enough healthy choices on the menu to bring me back.

    The gumbo was delicious. We had Po' boys, and they were fantastic. My son was not the biggest fan of the jambalaya. Our server was friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a decent experience.

    Returned so my cousin from Philadelphia could have more Raw Oysters, best we found in MKE. I tried the Tofu Chicken Drummies, the sauce was excellent. We also shared a side of grits which was delicious, love how they are prepared.

    Maxies is our favorite place for Southern comfort food. I get the Trout every time and it is already delicious. The gumbo is great and the oysters are wonderful! And the staff is friendly and attentive. I highly recommend Maxies!

    First time trying this place. Enjoyable outdoor seating, and excellent service and entrees. Pricing seemed a bit on the high side, but the food convinced us that we were getting our money's worth. Highly recommend this place if you are new to Cajun/Creole cuisine.

    My Grandmother and I went here on a Friday night for dinner and we both ordered the fish fry and my Grandma said it was “the best fish fry she has ever had” and she’s a tough critic! Our server was also fantastic and personable. He was juggling bartending and waiting tables. We made wonderful memories and enjoyed our dinner. This will always be one of my favorite dinner spots.
