Ordered the meatballs to start which were brought out only a couple of minutes later - they weren't heated all the way through and I was not impressed with the meatballs or sauce. Lasagna was okay but I've definitely had better.
Enjoyed a wonderful Sunday dinner at this adorable friendly little restaurant! Our server, Alessandro, was especially endearing. Great eggplant appetizer and lemony fresh fennel salad to start. And our pastas were well portioned and very good!
Very enjoyable evening with very reasonable prices. The server was delightful, and the service excellent. We ordered the fennel and arugula salad. They were huge. We should have shared one. Next was lasagna and eggplant parmigiana with spaghetti. The eggplant was not breaded and fried, which made it exceptional. The pastas were al dente. Wine selection by the glass was small, but choices were perfect with pasta.
The food is always good and service is always friendly.
Unfortunately, our dining-in experience has been inconsistent: The first time we came here, it was a 5-star exp. Our second experience was not as good: the bread was stale, and service was slow and not attentative. We had 6 people. They gave us 4 pieces of tiny bread and a tiny plate of olive oil which my oldest son finish it off just one tiny peice of his bread.......
Anyway, overall, this is good enough place as a daily dining place.
Best burrata in town
Max was SO good. definitely want to go back and sooner than later.
food was phenom. felt homey and everyone was so friendly and helpful and not rushed.
had an excellent meal for our friends birthday.
Restaurant was slow but we couldn’t get cleared or our bill because our waitress was too busy chatting with a male patron at the bar. Food was very good. Pizza was excellent!
Such a great experience! Our server was lovely and knowledgeable about the menu all with a genuine and non intrusive manner. The food is incredible! The burrata was perfection - but the stand out had to be the lasagne. I didn’t even need a knife to cut through it, it was so soft. No wonder why they’re known for it!
Food was ok. Service not great. Not on my repeat list.
We’ve eaten here before and love the food but often feel a little rushed. We ended up sitting at bar for meal and had a great time.
We’re going back with h more people in a few weeks so we’ll sit at table and hopefully can take our time.
The best lasagna I’ve ever had in the U.S.!! Everything was delicious, will definitely come back on my next visit to NYC.
Went with a total group of 8 people on 2/17/18. Everything was awesome. The best past that we have ever eaten in the city
The service in the atmosphere was fantastic we have been into this restaurant many times before and the food is unbelievable and the desserts are fantastic.
And I cannot say enough good things about the wait staff
Felt a little rushed. To be fair, it was Valentine's Day and it was clear they needed to ten tables quickly.
Delicious food. Good service. Convenient neighborhood place.
I eat here often and it never disappoints!!! Amazing gluten free pasta. All the people who work there are very nice. I love this place.
The food and service were really good. Our group liked that we could have a conversation without having to shout over loud music or other diners.
The staff made good recommendations for wine.
Nice meal, however my dish was extremely spicy and that was not indicated on the menu
Some of the best Italian I've ever had was here at Max-Tribeca. My penne pasta paired perfectly with my wine, which our server let us try a few, the ambience was calming with dim lighting making for a more intimate evening. The service here was spectacular, our meal did not come until after our appetizer was finished, and I could tell our meal was prepped with perfect timing along side our appetizer.
A fan favorite for me and my friends for casual dinners, special occasions, and everything in between. Joined for pre-celebration dinner on New Year's Eve (the second year in a row) and we all agreed it was the perfect spot to start our evening. Solid meal (as usual), charming atmosphere (without feeling upscale or too casual), and good vibe (without being too quiet or too loud). Always feels like a well-thought out spot that never disappoints.
Great food, good service
Great food, great conversation, great people
I love Max’s. Great place. Amazing gluten free pasta. I go often and it never disappoints.
Food is absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable!
Been going to Max for 15 years. Love this spot. Used to go to the lower east side location for years. Solid choice.
Max is my favorite pasta place I have ever been to. I used to go all the time when I lived in NYC. 5 years later, I went back and it's just as good as I remember. I haven't found anything that compares to the fettucine!
The server was great! The manager was intrusive and bothersome.
It is a small place and due to the large party that were seated directly above everyone in the rest of the dining room it was very loud and difficult to talk without shouting. The restaurant needs to think about limiting larger groups or placement of larger groups as this impacted the overall experience. Our waiter and the service was rushed, quick, not they seemed to lack refinement and knowledge of how to treat patrons in NYC. It is a cozy, affordable place with solid food but after that experience I am not sure I will return. The food is solid but not fantastic if the service and atmosphere is lousy.
This is a great Italian place for a date night or special occasion. The food was delicious and authentic.
We love Max!
Food was terrible. We didn't even finish our meal. Last place anyone should go if they're looking for me.
We came with a large group for a birthday and Max couldn't have been friendlier. They took a big reservation, adapted when we wanted to add two more folks, and then kept the food and drink coming. Will definitely be back!
Excellent food, great value in a cozy venue in Tribeca. What's not to like??
I’ll never eat or order from here again
We ate here in October 2017. It was wonderful. This place is quaint and romantic and special, and we had EXCELLENT service. I want to go back immediately.
This place was the worst restaurant that I have ever dined at. The food tasted like my children’s canned spaghetti O’s or canned ravioli; it was supposed to be Lasagne. The service was poor. I went because of the food networks recommendation, however I will never eat here again
Warm, cozy restaurant. Delicious pasta dishes, friendly staff - all around perfect place for dinner.
Very comfortable environment for our get together of 5 people. Loved the food and wine. It was a very hot nite and it could have been cooler in the restaurant. Other than that, absolutely no complaints. Looking forward to coming back.
Nice and quiet, except there was one group below who had a rather loud dining guest. Since the place has high ceilings, her voice carried very very far.
Food was okay, but the service was excellent. I’d go back. I probably wouldn’t order the same dish again (squid ink pasta with shrimp in a spicy tomato sauce). It was weirdly dry for a pasta, but the eggplant parm looked amazing.
Tiny, but good for groups and would probably make a great date spot.
To note, we went on Thursday night at 8 PM for a group of 8.
Very loud since the sounds echoed. $100 for below average meal. Waiter was also the bartender so did not attend to us unless we asked a busboy for him. Nothing special at all would not return.
