“Max's draw is exactly what has always attracted people to neighborhood restaurants: well-prepared food, served with warmth”
-New York Times, Eric Asimov
Delicious salmon and steak and the tricolore salad was amazing. Wanted the salad first but it all came together and the table was too small to accommodate but it was fine. Great wine selection too. Worth a visit if you love Italian and solid food.
Delicious authentic Italian food in a beautiful setting. The hosts were warm and friendly and the staff was attentive. A little slice of Italian heaven in New York City.
Delish-- first time going there and will defiantly be back! It was much less expensive than I expecting considering the quality of food. At any other restaurant that would be $50 an entree. It was absolute despise
Truly lovely ambiance, great and tasty food, good location, mannered and attentive staff, really clean place.
Every time my children and I, and our friends, dine at Max restaurant, it’s always the most perfect afternoon, everyone is happy because of the mix of beautiful place with great service, and everyone is happily satisfied and enjoying their food.
The worst penne Pomodoro in the city
Food was not good
Worst service ever. Waitress was terrible at her job topped off with a side of rudeness!
Authentic delicious food, incredible dessert.
This place is one of my favorite Italians in the world.
Horrible service, horrible food. Simple as that. With hundreds of restaurants to choose from in NYC, make sure this isn't one on your list of options.
Great experience! A couple of members of my party arrived 20-30 minutes late during Friday evening prime time but our server couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating, and she did not rush us at all. Food and wine was all terrific and I really enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend!
Max makes it a good outdoor dining experience. Its basic red sauce makes dishes tasty, and the service is excellent. Only question for Max: why $15 for a modest serving of calamari? Answer may be that calamari cost more than ever, but 50 cents a bite seems steep. Happy to come on next trip to Tribeca.
Beware. This place charges 4.00 for a tiny glass of soda. They also don't tell you that the refills will cost as much. When called out on it they say, "I thought you knew." How? How could anyone know? It's not written anywhere that I could see.
Food was ok. My lasagna was like eating pieces of the sun it was so hot but hey what do I know about food temperature.
Service was sub-par. You're in New York. There are plenty of other places to spend your money!
Great restaurant! Tasty food and helpful staff! Definitely will recommend to others!
My kid wanted to have a special meal together so we came here. The meal was delayed and there were some issues so I asked for the food to go instead of sitting there. The restaurant owner called me an hour later to apologize and say she felt really badly we had such a poor experience and ask if we would consider coming back. She also refunded the meal. That was an appreciated gesture.
the best, warmest, friendliest local spot in TriBeCa
My friends and I loved the experience and entrees. We were a party of 3. I personally, was impressed by the octopus appetizer. It was a yummy arugula salad and shreds of (cold) fresh octopus aka deliciousness 😋
Ok food. Bruschetta and Rigatoni Napolitano. Glass of Chianti. Service was not great. Waiter took order and only saw him when I waived him down. Pasta took a long time to come out of the kitchen, which is usual now. Busboys we’re great.
Amazing food - my whole party was impressed. And great value for the money especially in New York! Everything was hot, tasty, and strong yet affordable wine selection.
Best Italian meal I've had in this city in a long time!
Best Italian restaurant in New York City hands down, have lived here for 8 years and no where feels like home more so than Max, can’t recommend enough
Food is always outstanding! My go to local Italian restaurant.
Good food, great service. Wish vibe was a little more upbeat.
Simply the BEST Italian restaurant in nyc!
A very nice night. Great place for a date or just a good meal in lower Manhattan
best neighborhood restaurant in TriBeCa! Always welcoming, home cooked food
Awesome restaurant - insanely delicious pasta & the sautéed eggplant was really great too. Look forward to trying other things soon
I’ve never had a bad meal at Max. The food is always fresh, delicious and is a hidden gem in the neighborhood!
I returned to Max with friends again and enjoyed wonderful Italian cuisine which I expect and receive every time I dine there!
I am a “regular” here for years… either dining there or ordering in depending on what’s going on with my family and schedules. Everything is tasty and well portioned. The service is impeccable and a there’s a warm welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend to all.
Very slow service; food was ok at best
Great experience. Everything was wonderful.
Amazing as always! Best lasagna I have ever had! Yum
Was a nice casual dinner. Food was good. Appetizers were very good. Eggplant. Portobello salad.
My black in spaghettini with shrimp was def too spicy for my taste. The menu did say it was but I should have asked for less spicy as I barely ate it.
Service was good. We did get asked (twice) for the table as they had another reso. Which was fine but wish they were able to have us sit at the bar. Still Covid restrictions. Overall a nice meal.
Nice to eat outside despite the heat abs humidity!
Our favorite TriBeCa restaurant! Warm, delicious and welcoming...
Max is a lovely local restaurant where you can have a nice Italian dinner. Pasta and entries are delightful. Great service. Last of the mom and pop restaurant in Manhattan
Highly recommend the truffle ravioli!
We felt rushed and not well attended. If you want to close the kitchen don’t accept a reservation
Quality ! Spaghetti with lamb ragu was unbelievable.
