Max - Tribeca
We had high hopes as it came with great recommendations. Our server was just ok, couldn't recommend any dish, "I've worked here for a while, they are all good...", but couldn't tell us how the salmon was cooked (grilled, pan seared, etc). We had to waive our server down later to get our appetizer, and was told "well I put it in, it should come out sometime". We ordered the gnocchi and fettuccini with meat sauce and found them both to be a very gloppy mess. We've had better and will go elsewhere for this type of food.
We loved the food and atmosphere!!
Wonderful service. Food was delicious (just like always). Over 10 years we’ve been coming to max and the new location hasn’t brought any change to the quality of the food or service.
This is the best restaurant that I have ever been to. I got the lemon chicken and it was absolutely to die for. The flavors were so bold and delicious that I got a to-go order to eat for the nest day. This is the second time I have been to this place, and I go EVERY TIME I visit NYC!
We were a large group of people. They were very nice and accommodating with all our customized requests.
Cosy neighborhood Italian restaurant. It was our first time there. We dropped in for a light dinner before heading off to a New Year’s Eve get-together in the neighborhood. We were were quiet satisfied with our meal and would return if we were in the neighborhood again.
Always a fantastic experience at Max! Very welcoming, friendly, and attentive, and the food is outstanding!
Fabulous. Great atmosphere, delicious food!
Perfect Italian NYC vibe! Great location in Tribeca! Incredibly friendly staff, food was top notch but not over the top priced. We took the Subway 25 minutes to get there and it was well worth it! Tribeca is quieter at night, which was a nice change from the busy Rockefeller area. Adorable restaurant!!!! And we were there on Christmas Day!
We ate at Max for the first time in their new location and it was still the same great taste and quality that we were used to in the original spot. Every time I’m in the city Max is an absolute must for me!
3/4 of our dishes were served cold! The servers were also rude.
Lasagna - the evenings specialty - was like overcooked mush in a bowl. Inedible.
We had rigatoni with Max meatballs and sausage and it was good but not fabulous
Service was terrible. Was advised we could not only have wine and apps at 5pm when the restaurant was empty because they are not a wine bar.
Great food and amazing prices. We had a really fun time and plan to be back.
Service was very slow. Appetizers came up quickly but we waited 45 minutes for the entrees to arrive.
Food was good, service was a little slow and it seemed like the waiter was new. No candles on tables, so it was pretty dark.
It’s very loud & the waitress was not very friendly. She didn’t give any recommendations & seemed annoyed that we were taking up her time. The truffle ravioli was excellent but the clam sauce & veal ragu was just mediocre.
It was so wonderful! The server was so sweet and accommodating, as was the hostess. The pasta felt like an Italian grandmother cooked it, ha! A definite recommendation for friends visiting NYC!
Perfect balance of great food and neighborhood vibe. No sign of tourists! Pastas are amazing and good wine for good value. Apps were just OK but I’m being picky here. This will be a Tribeca staple in no time if it isn’t already.
Seems to have gone downhill since the relocation. We were served a slice and a half of tiny bread and my pasta was overcooked and lacked flavor.
Too noisy and too dark.
First time to this restaurant and I promise you it won’t be our last! The food was just outstanding as was the service and the ambience. True gem on our top list of returns
We really enjoyed our experience at Max and would recommend to others. Usually when I am reading reviews I like to read about which dishes people recommend , what they like best, etc. We unfortunately had a late lunch and were only able to try one app, one salad and one pasta to share so could not compare but everything we had was made well with quality ingredients.
The value and quality were both excellent
Food was amazing!! But noise level made it very difficult to hear the server and dining partners.
This is a great neighborhood place. Lots of families eating here. The pasta is fresh and the dishes are very tasty. The new location is more spacious and easier to navigate.
Everything was great! Heather McMahons hype was real :)
Great place that had our table ready and waiting early despite being completely full for the evening.
Best Italian food I’ve ever had!
Cozy place, way over-sauced pasta. We were rushed through our meal—which at least means it’s popular.
This was by far the worst restaurant experience ever. The food was terrible, I have never been to Olive Garden but I am sure they would do a better job, one side was so salted I could not eat it and they didn't even had the decency to deduct the charge. The cuisine was so bad! Salads were depressing and main courses microwaved. Cherry on top the waited told us they had another reservation for the table while we were still having the main course. Truly a disappointment and a NO on every aspect. Poor service and embarrassing quality.
Went from a recommendation of Heather McMahan. And she did not disappoint. This was phenomenal. My mother and I split several dishes because we just couldn't decide what we wanted the most! Everything was delicious, I've already recommended to 3 people in the past 48 hours. The restaurant was pretty quiet for how many people were there. The service was attentive but not overbearing. And the wine was AMAZING. Pricey but well worth your cash.
My fave in Tribeca for Italian food, and not to expensive
They serve some of the best food!
Simply and lovingly prepared.
The servers really know how to look after their diners.
Fabulous food and a great location! This is the definition of a neighborhood gem. Also, a great place for a business lunch.
Service was awful. Extremely understaffed. Food was below average.
Too noisy, even after the place emptied out and was half full. Would only go again to sit outside
Another good experience. Service was a bit slow tonight but food always is amazing.
Restaurant has no ac we sweet through dinner
We brought our teens to NYC for their birthdays and had an amazing dinner at Max! The staff was lovely and warm, the food was to die for and it’s in the most charming space! It will definitely go in my list of favorites!
