The food was delicious and the service was excellent.
Dinner as always was excellent. The service was a bit slow and the waitress had to be reminded a couple of times about things. The only odd thing about that was that we were one of two tables. There was a table of 8 and we were a table of 5. Great food and a place where my 94 year old grandpa can hear the dinner conversation. :)
Excellent sea bass.
Service used to be excellent. They had some wonderful professional wait staff. Michael was fabulous. They are gone and the staff doesn’t know what they’re doing. Our entrees were brought out while we were eating our salads, men were served first, dishes were taken away before everyone was done, we served our own wine — just not what it should be. Only one vegetarian option.
We went to Max after an RPO to the Max event. We ordered from the pros fixe menu. The rolls were nothing special. The portions were quite generous. The entrés were good. The apple crumble with ice cream was excellent. Service was at just the right level of attentiveness. We can eat better in Rochester for the price.
This my best restaurant in the world; and I have been to a number of the best. Food is par excellence, wine selection exquisite, service is friendly, personal and super efficient. If you want a culinary experience to remember, try this establishment, you will not be disappointed.
Friendly staff and very knowledgeable bartender
Right across from the Eastman Theater, it’s the best pre-concert venue in Rochester. Reliably good food, with friendly, prompt and professional service. Valet parking is a plus.
The food is generally very good here. What we have noticed over the past several months is a slight decline in service. Not so much from the waiters, but from the chef. As an example, this time we were served only one type of rolls: onion. Generally there are at least 2 choices in case you don’t like one. No other choice of bread and when the waitress asked the chef she said it was the only kind of bread that came in that day. Poor planning especially for a Saturday night. Secondly, we ordered several first entrées to split between the two of us and asked the waitress if the chef would divide them for us. The waitress said of course. Later she came back with the entrées which were not divided and said that the chef could not divide them because they were too small. Really? It just seems that the chef was inflexible or just didn’t want to bother. In any event, we come to this restaurant because it is very convenient before going to the concerts across the street. But we have to say that we have definitely noticed a decline since the spring. We still will come though, because generally we do enjoy the food and the convenience.
Max’s has a new menu,and offered some great specials as well. They’ve kept a few of the old favorites including the osso bucoo. We had a really nice experience.
My husband and I had dinner at Max and we loved it! While the dining room was not full - I thought it was kinda nice having the place to ourselves for a bit. We split the steamed little neck clams which were exquisite. My husbands NY strip was cooked perfectly and my bolognese was awesome. This is a great place for a “date night”. The food is top notch!
Loud wedding changed the dynamic of a restaurant with practically no one in it on a Saturday night. How does it survive? Add to that a kitchen where conversations could be clearly heard (because noise was low at first) and an inexperienced waiter. Not a winning recipe for a place with well-prepared food.
For the price, our experience was not as good as other times. Our biggest disappointment was the pairing of the wine with the entree. Perhaps our waiter was inexperienced and should have asked the chef. The food was good not great and that is a step down from our other visits. The waiter was very professional and friendly. Couldn’t help but notice how few people were in there on a Friday night at 6:15.
Food quality was adequate, menu unremarkable. Lighting was too bright, decor was fair, space was underwhelming. Not a terrible place, just not up to the price point.
Service was great. Cocktails were terrific and the food was top notch. Unfortunately, we live 350 miles away but if we return to the area we will definitely return to Max,
