We were with friends celebrating a real estate closing. Our server, Nicki B, was fantastic. She was friendly, very knowledgeable about the food, attentive without being intrusive. She contributed to a wonderful evening of great food and wine. This is my second time at Max Fish and it certainly won’t be the last. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Nice place, but too pricey for small portions. Great taste however.
I met with friends for Bruch everything was awesome, food, service and company .
Lets start by saying the hostess and waitor were extremely courteous and the food was delicious. The restaurant is bustling so not a place to go if you want a romantic dinner or have meaningful, deep conversation. Much more of a social honest atmosphere. My disappointment was the service. Had to continuously ask for things, bread never offered, salt and pepper because there was none on the table, refills on water. No one came to the table proactively to ask or check on us. Also, i made a reservation in advance and we were in the center of the room, next to a pillar. Probably one of the worst tables in the restaurant. Not what i expected from a high end restaurant, i probably will make other choices in the future.
Scallops were outstanding as was the butternut squash risotto
Mussels fra diablo, though no longer on the menu, was made specially for my husband. It's an outstanding dish!! All in all, a delicious meal served in cosy and warm surroundings!
I can’t say enough about Max Fish. We went for a birthday with a group that contained 3 children (including a toddler) and we all enjoyed the meal and the staff was awesome. We are still talking about the quality and the taste. A++.
Unfortunately this is no longer of the quality of the Max corporation. We started with calamari and clams casino. Calamari was full of large tentacles, chewy and soggy. Clams casino was actually a stuffed clam that was so over cooked that the clam itself was inedible. No where near a clam casino no matter what liberty was taken in interpretation. My husband had the Dover sole which was nicely presented table side with an awesome lemon sauce - lucky for his pick. I unfortunately ordered the seafood risotto. The octopus was overcharged and so tough that I could have played with it like a bouncing ball. I have octopus often and this was a disaster. Waitress was very seldom there to see if we needed anything. Runners brought out food and we had to ask them to get our waitress. She did not know the specials and did not know much about any of the food items.
Sorry Max Fish, you are off my fine dining list.
It's been a long time since I treated myself to white tablecloths. That, combined with an exceptional meal, made our lunch perfect. It was a very rainy day. We were greeted at the curb with an umbrella. How nice, and unexpected, was that?
My father's 90th birthday will not be remembered for this meal. My scallops (pan-seared) were overly spiced, my sister's striped bass was overly charred, my bother's grilled salmon was 'overly' small (no exaggeration), and my dad lucked out with the pan-seared lobster. One out of four just doesn't cut it for what is most definitely well priced fare. Not a keeper!
This was our 2nd time at Max Fish and it was just as good as the 1st time. We asked for the most quite table and the host was great giving us a 4 person booth in the back, thank you. The service from Rachel was wonderful. I love that they do not rush you so you can enjoy everything about the place. If fish and seafood are your thing they have nailed it. You must try this place, 5 star in my book. Thanks for a great night.
Whatever happened to good sized oysters? The flavor of the teeny tiny oyster meats was delicous (Duxbury) but the meats would not even fill a teaspoon. I used to shuck Wellfleet oysters by the hundreds...hard to find satisfying briny eastern oysters these days. On the good side, no shell fragments, so the shucker here knows what they are doing, but for what you get they are overpriced. We got the Salmon and Bass entrees, and they were fantastic. perfectly cooked with creative accompaniments. I had a couple Lawson's and my date had a house wine that was ok. A very attentive , pleasant waitress, who did not rush us, because we wanted SLOWWWW and she obliged. I think i would tell people get the fish dishes, as you would expect, but the oysters are tiny and overpriced. We got a trifle I think it was...for dessert. Premade, freezing cold out of the walkin. Meh. Not impressive, but tasty. We ate at a little booth in the bar area, and i honestly liked it more than the dining room where i have eaten a couple times before. I still give it 4 stars overall, i am picky since i used to be a chef on Cape Cod.
Awesome place, excellent value! Convenient and awesome drink menu!
Excellent service, food was excellent, would definitely return
I found the menu on Sunday to be a bit scarce......not enough choices for me. And, the menu was a tad hard to decipher. I don't know, I had a hard time choosing, when usually I do not. Would like to see more daily specials and how about a few soup choices? No bread served with the meal also. Drinks were fabulous, but not sure it would be my first choice for a good hearty dinner.
Excellent food. A pretty noises place
Always an enjoyable dinner experience. They simply do a great job, and they put a lot of attention on top-flight wait help, who really make the experience relaxing and enjoyable.
Great meals, entrees were delicious! Dessert was over the top! We enjoyed the entire meal. Between us we ate Ahi Tuna, scallops and lobster meals. All were excellent and the service was great!! This is a favorite place of ours and we will be back.
Make sure to leave room for dessert. The Sunday to the Max is worth the visit.
place was perfection! we had a great waitress she was very attentive and very helpful.
Went to dinner with my boss after a long day of work. Just what we needed. Food awesome, ambiance, service , etc. Will definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a nice dinner and relaxing evening.
Great atmosphere, service, and food!
Late Valentines Day Dinner. Raw Sampler was amazing! Do it!
Food was very late. It was ridiculously dark inside. My kids’ Mac and cheese was greasy and had no cheese at all—it’s bad when your kid doesn’t even want it. Food was cold—Tuna was supposed to be raw but not cold to eat. Husband’s risotto was dry.
We had a great time, but felt a bit rushed as though maybe there was another reservation after us for the same table.
Everything was absolutely fabulous as always.
We were celebrating two birthdays, and my son had called in to send a bottle of wine to the table. Needless to say, they forgot to let the server know. Very unprofessional, after being in the fine dining business for over 30 years, it was very weak.
Server Sarah S was fantastic, so were the oysters, bouillabaisse, calamari and peanut butter chocolate pie.
Been to Max fish before. I have been to a few of the Max restaurants in the Hartford area. As usual the food is great. Staff is friendly. Sunday Brunch is always great. This time I went for Valentine’s Day and was not disappointed
We had an excellent dinner, delicious dessert and cocktails! Our waiter recommended a pineapple drink served in a copper pineapple and it was scrumptious.
Mark was an awesome waiter. The food was amazing and well priced.
It was excellent as always.
Max Fish always delivers with fresh, delicious fish and seafood dishes served with creativity, flavor and style.
The wait staff and management are friendly, welcoming and accommodating.
I make an effort to have dinner at MaxFish at least once a month for over a year now, and I have always been delighted that I chose to have my dinner here!
Lunch was very good. Service was excellent. I tend to gravitate to any Max restaurant. I am guaranteed a great meal and service.
Delicious meal with extras from the waiter. When we arrived, the waiter was very friendly and brought over a mini smoothie for us to try and then dropped off some little cinnamon dough bites. The food came out quickly and was delicious. My only complaint for the day were the bartenders at the Bloody Mary bar. They had zero personality and were not friendly at all.
Great Bloody Mary bar and amazing brunch options!!!
Service was fantastic... Food was great w exception of the 2 lobster pan dishes.. both lobsters were overcooked. No other complaints... Would go back again
Max Fish lives up the the reputation of the Max Group. Excellent menu choices that are prepared wonderfully, and plated to please the eye and palate alike. Seasonal add-ins and add-ons are welcome. Have never been critical of a Max Fish experience or of any Max experience. Excellent food group. Service also top notch and servers very knowledgeable.
excellent service, food, beer and wine. Food not only was delicious, but beautifully presented. Wait staff was outstanding.
Enjoyed the meal at Max Fish. Great food, great service, great pricing for an upscale experience.
