The entire experience from beginning to end was fabulous. The building, foyer, elevator ride to second floor dining, and food all came together for a great experience. The pickled jalapeno martini was amazing and every meal our party of 6 ordered was spot on and delicious.

The restaurant is upstairs, and has big windows looking down onto the distillery. It is a renovated old building and has lots of historical documents on the walls about the bank it used to be. Our server, Allie, was outstanding. My only complaint is that they put pellet ice in my cocktail, rather than one or two larger cubes. Each sip came with unwanted ice pellets. Redfish, quail, salmon, deviled egg flight, were all delicious. Portions were generous. All seemed happy with their choices. They have whiskey and beer flights for $10. great deal.

Went to try the new brunch menu at Maverick. Walked in for my 10:30 reservation and the host took us upstairs to sit in the little area that overlooks the whiskey production. Not crowded with about 4 other tables. Perfect service and the food was delicious. Great job on all of it!

The meal was pretty pricey and nothing too special. Nothing was bad, it just wasn't craveable. Steak tartare needed more acid and salt, quail was fried a shade too long, steak was a touch chewy. Nothing to crucify them over, I just wouldn't spend my money here again.

We went for our daughters 22nd birthday. The hostess downstairs was great and said happy birthday to my daughter. We were off to a good start and we proceeded upstairs to eat. When we got off the elevator no one greeted us for about a minute and we stood there awkwardly looking around. The bartender said hello from behind the bar and then the hostess upstairs (who was literally standing there the entire time) finally greeted us. She asked again if we had a reservation which we did and we gave her our name again. Our table wasn’t ready and she was unsure what to do. Someone else let us know and encouraged us to sit at the bar. Bartender was great. The French75 and gin drinks were fabulous. Before the drinks were even made the awkward upstairs hostess came up behind us and said the table was ready and walked away. Since we were waiting for our drinks we didn’t realize the hostess had walked away so my husband got up to go to the table alone as he had his drink. Not a good start.

We got to our table and after about five minutes the waitress came up. She NEVER introduced herself, asked if we were good on drinks or even said hello. She walked up and said “are y’all ready to order”. I think she saw the confused look on my face and then said “do y’all want to start with some small plates”. We did and ordered those. She immediacy asked if we wanted to order our dinner. We did not. We were there to celebrate and were already feeling rushed. So we ordered small plates. I’m literally 3 minutes she was back to take our food order. So we ordered dinner.

Small plates took about 10 mins to get yo the table. The chicharrones are fantastic! The developer egg flight was good as well. The beef tartare was okay but the bread served with it was stale. Right after we finished our small plates our food showed up (way too fast) and our salads and dinner came all together. Waitress set dinner plates on the table without clearing the app ones first. Felt rushed

If you're looking for something different than the typical Riverwalk restaurants give Maverick Whiskey a try. Food as good or better than anything else downtown. The restaurant itself is pretty small so make sure you have your reservation. If you didn't know there is a distillery and brewery onsite so give their in-house drinks a try. I really liked their Alamo Whiskey, but didn't try their beers.

This was probably our worse dining experience, ever. We had never been here before but saw their Valentine's day menu and decided to make a reservation for Valentine's day.

It's a rather new restaurant so don't know if they have never had a day like V-Day but the whole staff looked overwhelmed. We noticed the hostess being dressed in regular jeans/shoes/ sweater. That definitely caught my attention (seeing as this is suppose to be a high end restaurant-- $65 per person) Our waitress seemed like she was ready to call it quits...my wife tried to make her cheer up a bit but her mood didn't change.

We received our 1st and 2nd course which were alright. Then I received my Caesar salad which was not fresh at all...was probably at room temperature. We received our entrees (both fillets) and they were cold. I had never returned a steak before but I had to do it this time. Then, they had the audacity to put BOTH of our steaks, that had already been cut by us, back on the grill and heat it up and bring it back out to us.... REALLY? (Note it was $65 a person for the set V-Day Menu) Then when they brought it back...my wife's purple potatoes were cold!

I had enough at that point and decided to talk to manager (who also seemed overwhelmed) and told him what we had experienced and he went ahead and took care of our bill (I tried to pay for the drinks we had since we really did enjoy those....I tasted their whiskey and it was good...a bit harsh but a different taste than others)

I find it hard for us to come back again. The pictures make it seem like a much more beautiful place than what it really is. Regular tables/chairs. There is nothing about this restaurant that screams high end other than the pictures they have posted themselves. The experience is not worth the price.

Nice, new place. Staff was excellent. My wife had the beef rib; she was happy with it. I had the Whiskey Skewers; they were okay. The beef was a bit rubbery (but tasty) and the chicken was extremely dry (with NO flavor). We likely won’t be back for a while.

With a name like Maverick Whiskey we were expecting a cool, edgy hip place to spend a Saturday night out at..some place with cozy leather chairs, dark wood nooks to settle in and enjoy some whiskey and great eats but unfortunately it is non of that. The downstairs entry area is odd as they cater to tours and you are taken upstairs to the dining area which we were hoping would not look like the entry area - upon the elevator doors opening we entered into a loud room, ceramic tile on the floor, picture windows that look into the distillery area with its harsh bright lights and a small bar. The acoustics need to be softened and the wooden chairs scraping across the tiles every time someone moves is very annoying. No music, bright lights makes you feel like you're in a cafeteria. The food was nothing great, redfish was a few minutes under cooked, the center was mushy, and the pork was almost under cooked, a light pink 3/4 to the bone.

Noisiest dining experience I’ve ever had! Dining area is small and there is nothing to absorb the sounds. Almost ear shattering sounds when anybody moves their chair. Service was slow and food was mediocre at best. Tried the “sampler” beer flight, and didn’t really like any of the 4 samples. I seriously doubt that I would go back to redeem a $100 gift certificate! It’s a great concept and location, but bad execution.

The food is GREAT. Delicious. Hearty. Well-spiced. Nice portions. We loved the okra, osso buco and redfish. Unfortunately that was the only part we loved. Service was a bit awkward from the start - the hostess ruined the birthday surprise for my husband. The dining room space is not very warm or inviting. The elevator opens into the dining room with no hostess stand, so you stand adjacent to diners waiting to be helped. The restrooms open straight into the dining room. The spirits need some work. I would gladly return for a lunch but not another special occasion dinner.

Small, upstairs dining room/bar...not much ambience and a bit "over air conditioned". Our server was nice enough but didn't check on us or give us updates on our order's status as we waited a loooonnnnggg time for our lunch to be served (and we only ordered 2 entrees...no appetizers, salads,etc...and there was only one other table with 3 diners seated during our visit). We enjoyed our entree selections. The scallops were slightly overcooked but the corn/smoked tomato/okra combination below the scallops was a delicious addition (it had almost a Creole flavor/spice profile). The cornbread "croutons", however, lacked flavor and added nothing to the dish. My husband's redfish was perfectly cooked and seasoned and plated alongside a medley of colorful, vibrant, al dente seasonal vegetables (purple and yellow cauliflower, heirloom carrots and roasted, diced sweet potatoes). This menu item is the perfect choice for a light yet satiating lunch.

Made a nite out with friends to visit this new restaurant and distillery. The tour was great, very knowledgeable guide and interesting tour. When we arrived, the restaurant had cancelled our dinner reservations. Said someone had called in and canceled the reservation by name. I have a very uncommon name and this is a small restaurant. I believe they mis-heard and just cancelled mine. They got us in anyway, unfortunately for us - the food and service was very bad. Menu descriptions are poor and the food was sub par. Very disappointed, except for the tour. It is very apparent this place needs to get their service together and learn what their own menus are about.

We signed up for the 5:00 tour before dinner. I had emailed to sign up several days before. We had a dinner reservation at 6:15. I did not hear back about the tour. I called and was told I was on the list. When I asked how I was supposed to know that, I was told I would get a confirmation email. Never got it. The parking says “Valet”, but there was not a valet. We went down to the hotel and parked there. The lady who took our tour money could not get the commuter to work and it took 15 minutes. Then we were told the tour would not be starting for a while because they were waiting on a large party. A lady told us to go upstairs and get a drink and that she would come get us when the tour started. At 5:35, I saw her upstairs. I asked her if she had come to get us and she said the tour had already started! We went back downstairs and joined the tour. The information was amateur and much of it was inaccurate. We finally left and went upstairs to our table. It took one hour and 45 minutes to get our food. Two other tables who came in after us were served before we were. The food was ok, but we will not go back. The waitress did give us $25 off for the long wait. The space is nothing special and it was very loud.

Maverick Whiskey

Sandy, thank you for taking the time to give us feedback about your experience. Our valet service uses the same run-up as the hotel next door. We will absolutely be addressing your concerns, but are limited in what we can do given that the experience you have described here does not match our interactions with your group that evening, from the time taken to ring you in to your understanding of the suggestion that you get a drink while you waited, to your ticket time.

We had our Gourmet Club dinner at Maverick Whiskey. Everyone loved it! Ande went above and beyond our expectations with several appetizers on the house. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. The temperature in the restaurant was on the cold side and the manager Ande gave me her sweatshirt to wear since my husband tried to purchase me a long sleeved shirt and they didn’t have any in stock . Great restaurant in a great city. Most of all the prices are reasonable and the food is outstanding!
