Maven Restaurant

The menu shown on OpenTable did not match AT ALL the available food menu at the restaurant. Very limited menu almost next to impossible to find something to eat anything with dietary restrictions.
Also the restaurant did not offer wine by the glass. Instead they drastically upcharged mediocre wine for $88.
Had I known in advance of theses issues I would not have chosen to eat here.

We stopped by for a burger and found the place all to ourselves. Outdoor dining at its finest on lower Haight! I opted for the Fried Chicken w/Mac N Cheese. We got a nice bottle of red at a very reasonable price. I'd say this was an upscale comfort food kind of night. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a low-key delicious meal.

Booked a reservation and still had to wait over 30 minutes for a table. Burger was grossly undercooked for medium and the service was subpar. Overall not worth it.

Flexible spot that works well for small friend groups and dates. The cocktails are especially good.

Great neighborhood restaurant. Impeccable service. Pesto pasta was not their best dish but they were kind enough to not charge us for it. Best cocktails and the waitress was polite and friendly.

Delicious brunch. We’ve had cocktails and snacks many many times and it’s always really good. Cocktails are always spectacular! Arrive friends and just plain nice!

Do to Covid the dining was very limited and outside. But the food was fantastic.

This is during covid-19 outdoor seating times so there were only three tables available. The service and the food was great, but it was cold and windy out so the food got cold really fast. I'd like to check out this restaurant again after we are able to sit indoors.

Mediocre is the best word to describe this restaurant. I chose it based on the reviews of the hamburger. There were about five entree choices on the menu, and a classic cheese burger was not an option. I got grilled cheese with jalapeños. A cold cheese and red pepper sandwich arrived. I ate it, but didn’t enjoy it.

It was my birthday; that info was shared prior to our arrival - no one acknowledged the special event. 😑

Would not return.

When booking through Open Table, keep in mind that when you reserve “bar” or “table” seating that it’s a common table shared with other people. The food and drinks were very good and the servers/host were really nice and accommodating, even on Valentines which I’m sure was chaotic for them. Overall good experience, nice to go for a date - bar seating (on the 2nd level) was more comfortable and intimate for us.

Cocktails were next level.

Overall, I always enjoy Maven. Chinatown duck sliders are in my dreams. My friend is gluten free and although the waitress and chef were super accommodating with her needs, I’m always hoping someday restaurants can have a GF fryer or use GF flour to keep the oil free of gluten. Since the chicken is fried in the same oil and not gluten free, we were not able to enjoy the fries (which are soooo good) nor the Brussels sprouts as intended. However, the chef did pan fry an order for us. They just were not the same.

Went for brunch with a couple of friends and everyone was very happy with their selections. Portions are generous. Not crowded at 11:30am. Happy we chose it. Will go again!

All in all, it was good. Disappointingly small, expensive portion of pasta. Friendly service and nice ambiance.

We love Maven. They are an excellent local favorite. Smallish menu but with a good range of options. My partner says it the best hamburger he can get out-to-eat.
It can get loud at moments but not insufferable. Everyone that works there is truly friendly, they are very accommodating and responsive. Great folks!

Maven is a great spot for Happy Hour, but be forewarned, the tables are very tight and hard to get past people which makes it a bit uncomfortable at times. I do like the concept of shared seating, but just leaving a little more space in between tables would be helpful. Otherwise, love the ambiance and the food is good, although a bit on the pricier side.

Our server became unattentive after we'd ordered an app and didn't return until some time to take our full order. The food came before our drinks, yet our server made no attempt to communicate that the bar was backed up, neither was she apologetic for the delay. Never asked how the meal was. Upsetting considering how much we spent. If you go, maybe try sitting at the bar.

Had a great time - balcony seating is fantastic. Great cocktails and good food.

Great service. Food was sub-par. All the tables were stools only which was murder on my lower back. I was in intense pain at the end of the meal. Wouldn’t go back.

Staff seem annoyed to be dealing w patrons

Nice interior, helpful servers and bar staff. Good for drinks and to talk with a friend. Probably not the place for food. A burger, maybe. The brunch was so high carb (mostly rice, chips, very little protein) it was unpleasant. None of the carbs are listed on the menu.

The food and the drinks are great. It's a neighbourhood gem!

Reservation request was to be seated at the counter/bar. We did not get this option.

Great service from wait staff, bar and kitchen, and nice ambiance. Food overall was not fabulous, but solidly good. For the price, need to kick it up a notch.

Grilled cheese was good, menu pairing with food items good, service was meh bc I wanted to get table but got placed by kitchen bar area, noise level was high when I was there

More of a bar with food, than a restaurant. My beet salad was delicious- but I didn't like that it came as a "shareable" salad especially since we were sitting at a narrow counter, and so we didn't bother with the small plates, and my husband and I just ate from the bowl. They did not have iced tea???

Maven’s atmosphere is good late as a cocktail bar but lacks during daylight. Reservations here do not guarantee you a table, instead potentially a bar slot overlooking kitchen where a waitress can barely reach you. The food is ok. Convenient if you’re in the area for a cocktail and fries, not somewhere to go if you’re seeking good food or service.

Salmon was small and I got so little risotto with it. It was great quality just too small portions. There are long tables, so you're sitting with other people. It feels very cramped with no privacy. Waitress asked like 5 times if we were ordering cocktails (sorry, no) and then didn't refill our water. Is that revenge lol? I won't be back.

We had a great time celebrating a friends birthday. Exactly the fun, lively atmosphere we were looking for. Drinks and food were excellent!

They make great cocktails and the service is always good.

Loved the food. A great experience. It is noisy though, but I still give it 5 stars.
