The owners of Maurice describe it as a modern pastry Luncheonette that exudes an old-world charm. The bistro celebrates the art of pastry making and its beautifully decorated cuisine, range of teas and a wine program proves this. The items on the menu are predominately French in origin and include both sweet and savory items. The lunch section includes a range of Fika pastries such as scones, chocolate brioche rolls, cookies and Macarons. Desserts include crowd-pleasers such as cheesecake, pudding and meringue to name a few. Diners can also order Maurice's special Courier coffee, tea, vintage water, wine or beer to go along with their purchases. The main dishes at Maurice's include the seasonal brioche rolls which are seasoned with fresh fruits each day they are made. The fruit and nut Bostock and meringue seasoned with almond anise seed is also a favorite with diners.

                                                                                      Maurice is full of charm. A lot of thought has clearly gone into every element of the restaurant, from the decor to the music. Food is served at the counter or at a few small tables. It's the chef and a server and someone cleaning the dishes. We serendipitously stopped in for lunch. The food is delicious and different, particularly the deserts which were both delicate and flavorful. We had a meyer lemon ginger soufle cake and a chocolate capuchin cake rolled in cocoa nibs and lapsang tea. Both were excellent. The smorbrod du jour was simple but elegant, a nice light dish.
