Food was Friday Buffet which was good. Disappointed though we I ordered a Gin Martini and the waitress did not ask what kind of Gin which cost $19.00. That happens a lot in the Islands. Because of this I would think twice about returning.
The food - Ribeye and Butterfish - was amazing! Great ambiance/view as you’d expect as well
Service lacking. Ordered cocktail, finally came after20 minutes with salad already delivered.
Mushroom risotto entree lacked flavor. Risotto had 3 sliced mushrooms on top with 2 baby carrots and greens......not mushroom risotto in my book.
Three of the four people in our party were extremely pleased with their dinners. The fish/seafood dinners were excellent. However, I ordered the roast chicken which was served with sprouts on top. While the sauce was yummy, the sprouts included a worm crawling around. The staff was accommodating and replaced the dish. Once I began to eat, I realize that the dish consisted of two small drumsticks and two small backs. I would expect an expensive chicken dish to include at least some white meat. I would never order that dish again!
Great food and services
I cannot express how extremely extremely disappointed were with the Friday night buffet! The buffet food was just so bland and tasteless.
We had the Sunday brunch seafood buffet and it was good...and we chatted with one of the server and he told us that there would be the same buffet on Friday night...so we made reservations and invited our guests. When we checked in it was too late to change to another restaurant when we were made aware that it’s not going to be the seafood buffet.
I had the ahi poke, shrimp poke it was so tasteless.
I’m just in shock that they actually served such poor tasteless quality food on a Westin Resort property!
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT, DON’T waste your time and money.
A beautiful setting overlooking the large pool with the dune and ocean beyond. Easy to find if staying at the resort but could be a challenge re larking etc if from elsewhere. Absolutely friendly wait staff. Very attentive and warm. Biggest issues were the long time to get the orders delivered despite fact it was less than half full. Almost half an hour for the drinks then 54 minutes for the appetizer Ltd to arrive once ordered
Similar delay for the mains. The selections are varied and provide good local options. Typical Hawaiian hotel fare. Serving size reasonable. Real point is that it is a typical hotel venue with good average food and an easy dinner for the clients if the hotel ... it won’t make effort if not staying here next time on Maui.
Service was outstanding! Food was nothing special, but the service (can’t remember his name) was great!!
Beautiful view of the ocean. Relaxing Koi ponds all around while you eat. The service was excellent. The food was OK for the price. We would go again for the view and their ability to accommodate large parties.
Live music; great food; restaurant on the beach
Considering we were practically the only couple in the restaurant . I would not have expected to have our appetiser plates o be still sitting in front of us 15 mins after we finished. I'm not sure what happened but I had to ask someone to clear them and also order more drinks. The gnocchi we had was very ordinary and was not pan fried as in the photo. Far better places to go
Atmosphere was lovely and the staff was attentive. This was at the edge of the hotel and therefore next to the pool—it was a beautiful view and made my kids not so loud. ;)
The food was good. The kids menu was boring—chicken finger and burger which was a disappointment. The adult menu was a bit to “adult” for my 11 yo. My scallop entree was cooked well, except the risotto was super salty. Overall, a good experience, but won’t be going back for a while.
Great food. Service a little slow both times we ate there.
We absolutely love the prawn bruschetta. The Machattan is a great drink. We have manhattans every Friday night. The macadamia liquor made it really special.
The food was great. Service was poor. A large party arrived toward end of our meal in an otherwise relatively empty restaurant and we were left for a long time. Had planned to get dessert but decided against so as not to have to wait longer.
Great food! Loved each dish. Macadamia nut chicken and delicious side of Brussels sprouts
Very unimpressed with the food quality, portion size and cost. Server was attentive. Would not recommend.
It was a buffet
Service was very poor. Took a very long time until our dinner was served.
Food was really good. We went for the Friday night buffet. They kept re-filling the dishes. Salad, pineapple, Poke bar with 4 kinds, hot dishes included Local style dry mein, Kalua Pork, Guava Glazed chicken thighs, a teriyaki flat iron steak - it was really good, panko fish, vegetables, malasadas, assortment of desserts. Not crowded. You can look up menu by searching the restaurant online.
The food was fine. The server knew the special was a white fish but didn’t know how it was prepared, what it was served with or what the cost would be. When we asked simple questions about other items on the menu, he could not answer.
We went for Mother's Day brunch and were blown away. The food was amazing and the desserts we're decadent. However, the service was easily the highlight of our experience. Matt made us feel like VIP's. He demonstrated exceptional attention to detail, anticipation of our needs, and great conversation while managing several tables in our area. He's very knowledgeable about the local farmers where they source their foods. Also, he spoke very highly of the chef, pastry chef, and the rest of the kitchen staff. Matt is an exceptional ambassador of the Westin brand, and we are grateful for the superb service.
The brunch was underwhelming - did not meet up to the hype expectations.
Food, although limited, was very delicious. Open poke bar a plus. The best, however, was there 2 day marinated grilled new York strip steak. The best grilled streak I ever had. Meat was tender and full of flavor. And they cooked it outside on the grill which you can enjoy it once off the grill. Service was great and staff were very helpful, especially the friendly hosted who took her time to help my mother make her plate as my mom has a walking disability. Their taro malasadas were also a hit! Overall, great food
Outstanding location with fine food and wine and very friendly service.
The shareables were indeed shareable and the food was the best we had on Maui! The scallops, which we shared, were outstanding. The sides with the scallops were also outstanding and did a great job complementing the entree. We tried the Cauliflower steak (which we wouldn’t ordinarily order and it didn’t disappoint— it was also outstanding.
The waiter, Brandon, was outstanding and seemed to know when to be around and when not to.
Poke is better at Foodland, the poorest pineapple I’ve seen served but the desserts were good.
I was pleasantly surprised at this visit to Mauka Makai. Our first visit, last year, did not leave a very good impression. But, we ate here twice with our party this year. The dinner selections were wonderful; claimed everyone in the party. The breakfast buffet was a feast and a delight. Love the variety! I particularly appreciate how we have told MM our party's food allergies once, and they have kept the record. Upon entry, they confirmed which folks with which allergies were attending the meal and that info was shared with the assigned wait person. Marvelous extra service! The wait person at both visits and hostesses are all terrific.
Maui hasn’t really had a good Sunday Brunch buffet since The Prince... until now!
The food is great and the staff keeps it stocked. Catch the menu on their website. King crab, oysters, shrimp, poke, fresh fish, alaea crust prime rib fresh fruits the list goes on!
Opens at 10, live music @ 11; I can’t say enough about this place... We love it!
Locals, get your passports renewed and head over to da west side for some ono grinds an’ big kine kaukau! You gonna be tired!🤙🏼
Easter brunch was fantastic - Good selection and great service. Vladimir was informative, helpful, and punctual. He made our holiday meal extra special. Thank you!
We went on a Friday. The buffet was the only option. I don’t eat fish, which was most of the food. The dinner was the worst we have ever eaten on Maui. Go elsewhere for a great meal. The fresh pineapple and the dessert items were the only good items eaten.
My husband had fish and said it was only fair.
The delicious meal was made even better by the guitarist who played and sang and took requests. My 70+ mother and inlaws had a hard time hearing and talking over the music, but we all enjoyed it.
Delicious food and great service!
Absolutely amazing, from the service to the food. Will return very soon!
The Sunday Champagne brunch buffet was outstanding, the best ever here in Maui. There were 6 family members and each one of them said the same.
Very disappointed...coming from Oahu....I thought can't wait to try it...spent a lot of money....Waiter was not very helpful or friendly....and the bar needed help!
Service was acceptable but not very inviting. Appetizers were pretty good. Main courses were very bland. Shrimp and mussels were way overdone. Would not eat here again!
Good ingredients, prepared as bland as possible, although the “teriyaki” sauce on the grill was decidedly sweet (alas).
We felt the wine list needed help. I ordered a cocktail that I sent back as it was not well balanced, to sweet. I felt $19 for a martini there was over priced.
The food was fabulous👍🏻
4 for dinner steak was not cut able sharp knife would not cut the steak. Sent back the next one came out raw. Suffered thru it. Ahi starter was really good ahi withe pork belly was great. Wife had to send her Ahi entree back to kitchen, ordered flash grilled and it came out brown second one was a little better. Desert was bad it was included with early dinner, was chocolate moose something and it was questionable as to what it was. They bought our first drink and comped one dinner.
