Maui Brewing Co - Kailua
Good food, slow to come with entrees. Brought me the wrong bill and had to change out payment after they came back a second time
We were seated right away with our reservation and were given options for indoor, outdoor, and bar seating. Our waiter was very attentive and gave us good feedback on the menu items.
The restaurant is bright and open but it was very noisy in the inside seating area.
There was live music for a period of time.
The Food and Drinks were all reasonably priced and tasted good.
The only real mark was they messed up one of our order and brought the wrong dish. However, they quickly corrected it and had the right dish delivered.
Overall it was a good experience with good food and drinks.
First time there. OUTSTANDING Service from Christina! She's a true asset to MBC! Excellent selection of food - and delicious!
We sat outside on patio; a bit quieter than inside. We'll definitely be back! (And will also be visiting their Waikiki location since we live on that side of the Island!) :-)
Wine and beer selection is very nice, food was hot and delicious! The men and ladies working there are super nice!
Not enough service, patio live music was a bit too loud, maybe more acoustic.
The food is just not good. Limited options and concept of utilizing local ingredients and flavors falls short. Child pizza was cold and looked like it was made in the grocery store. Fish and chips were hearty, however, fries stuck together in big piles and fish was very dense. The restaurant's own (and only) version of ketchup tasted like watered down tomato paste. On the positive, staff was very friendly and appeared to be working hard. We won't be returning because beer is not enough for us to overlook the poor food.
I would recommend MBC with a caveat. It still seems like they are working out the kinks.
Service was slow and numerous orders were incorrect. Half of our order was wrong as were both orders at the table next to us ... but
Once we got our burgers the way we ordered them they were great when cooked to medium rare.
The fries are good too, especially if you are paying happy hour prices.!
The great beers go without saying.
It was a really fun place to go with groups of people. Nachos were fantastic, the salads were delicious and we got a baked cookie desert that was mouth watering. We thought there might have been a live performance going on but it was actually just acoustic songs playing loudly.
Fast friendly service. The noise level inside was way to high so we sat outside which was more comfortable with the noise level. The only draw back for me was allowing dogs to allowed to be in the eating area. The dogs were not even Service Dogs. They were shaking the hair and what ever else in the air no telling where all that landed.
They have great music and happy hour. I live next door so it’s extra awesome . Lots of people there!
Food is over priced
Caesar salad was really bad
Pizza was small
Beer was terrible
Don't give up that location because you would be out of business otherwise
Love the happy hour. Nachos and wings are amazing!!! Music was exceptional. Love the open concept. Will definitely be back.
Wow!! Music was so loud...couldn't hear yourself think!!
Menu, atmosphere, location, service-top notch!! While visiting my Hawaii family we chose Maui Brewing Company for lunch and it was a hit with young and old alike! We will be back the next time I visit. Menu was full of local flair. Be certain at least one person orders the ginger, rosemary and lemon beverage. It won’t disappoint!
If you go for the beer, it was good! The food was nothing spectacular. We were eating off of the snacking and sharing menu and it was not very robust. I would have like to have seen some sliders, or even a snack version of the chicken katsu, fish tacos etc.. We had the Brewmaster pizza and calamari, the pizza was not over the top, it served a purpose, but not a need to come back. The calamari was good, made with the steak part not the tentacles. The music was live and we were sitting away from music. It was played really loud over the sound system and made it difficult to have conversations with the people you were sitting with. Trying to keep the review agnostic, was not a bad place, but could use some improvements to the menu and making it a place to hangout with friends.
Food is good. A bit expensive, but tasty. Inside is way too loud, but patio is tolerable. Service was good.
Everything about the experience was great! -- Food, drinks, etc -- We had a fantastic server who made our experience very pleasant, MAHALO!
My Mother and I are in quite often for either Happy Hour or dinner and love it every time. Upon our last visit we had Tess, and she was wonderful! So energetic, fun to be around, pleasant, and professional. And we also love, I believe her name was Christina or Christine (I'm sorry), she is wonderful. Always remembers my Mother and I and stops by to say hello. She's so sweet and always has a bright smile. You're fortunate to have these crewmembers. Also your front desk crew are always so pleasant and cheerful. We will definitely return on a regular basis. Mahalo Nui Loa!
Great food, great service. I had the Chicken Katsu with Spaetzle...a twist on Wienerschnitzel and a great twist it was! Beer is of course great too.
Second time to Maui Brewing...again food good but service was terrible. Server seemed overwhelmed. Others eventually stepped up to help serve us, all three of us, but took 30 min just to get a beer and then another 15 min to get our other drink, both ordered at same time but it was a cocktail so they said that takes longer. 45 min? 30 min to get a beer? Thought they were slow the first time because it was the first month they were open but 3 mo later they still don’t have it figured out.
The hostess that greeted us flat out picked her nose 3 times in the short time that we interacted with her. She picked her nose and touched the touch screen, the menus and everything else at the counter. We were seated (we had reservations) and it took a long time for our server, no big deal on a busy night. They were out of the 2 beers my husband enjoys. How is Maui Brewing out beer? We should have just walked to Whole Foods and eaten and drank there. We ordered very simple items from the menu and our wait was long for our food. Once the food was delivered we had to find our server to bring us silverware and napkins. I was able to grab salt/pepper from the employee bussing the table next to ours. We live in Kailua. We were so excited to have a local restaurant to eat at for a casual night out. We have given this place a couple of tries and I don’t think we will be back.
Since we went to Maui and the brewing company there, a month ago, we had to compare to it. The Kailua location next to the street was noisy inside and out. We were out on the lanai and the music was way too loud for us to have a conversation. We had the fish sandwich and wings. Loved the wings. The sandwich was a bit too much breading and greasy for my taste. The fish itself was very good. It was my birthday and I wished they had some cake or something more than a cookie for a dessert. We had the cookie in Maui; it was very good but not worth price.
The service was awesome, the staff was friendly, the food tasted wonderful and the selection of drinks were great! We really enjoyed the atmosphere as it was very casual and comfortable. Our waitress was very helpful and cheerful. We really enjoyed ourselves and the first impression was spot on! I will definitely go back again and tell others to try this place!
Great location. Nice atmosphere. Good service. Food was hit or miss depending on the dish. Some had too much salt or too much spice. Plan to give it another try.
Have been there a few times since it opened. Food is fair. Some meals were great, others not. Servers are busy and there is no “personal” care or recommendations given to the table. It is loud and in demand so service, unfortunately, is not important to them. Great venue, good energy. Hope management recognizes this and improves customer care.
Our waiter was fun, personable, and spent extra time helping us figure out our order based on a food allergy.
This restaurant is the newest shiny object on the town restaurant scene. It is trendy, chic, with a vibrant bar scene. Many microbrews to choose from. The food is mediocre, and the loud music precludes conversation.
Enjoyed their Happy Hour with friends and listening to music. Our server was very attentive and helpful. We sat out outside which I think is probably better than inside. Seemed very extra loud inside and seating is kind of odd. Most of the food we ordered was good, but my daughter ordered chicken katsu with mac and cheese, and unfortunately, the katsu tasted like it was cooked with fish. We will definitely come back again though.
The daily special pizza was very good, crisp crust with a well-balanced mix of ingredients. Very good beer and a very energetic atmosphere. A fun place.
It was loud & packed on a Thursday at 6. We had no other option but to sit on the patio where the wind was cold.
They were out of several of their beers. I think they need to brew more beer.
As always the service and food was amazing!! Such a great addition to Kailua!
Seems too new & staff is Not well informed about the menu. Our wait staff was slow bringing h processing the chek.
Good prices for happy hour and noise level is good outside- not inside.
Not worth the price for mediocre food at best and little to no beer in stock. Terrible experience.
Our dining group was a group of coworkers that just finished our shifts to grab dinner to eat. The restaurant was great looking and the booth benches were very comfortable. Food was spot on. Nothing wrong with the food at all. Pizzas did take some time to come out, but the wait was well worth it. Beer was fantastic. The feeling of quality you get getting in and seated was great. The waiter was very friendly and easy to be with. Would eat there again.
Now for the not so greats, the wire chairs are extremely uncomfortable. My friend said they feel “like sitting on steel butt floss.” Thankfully they were offset by the booth benches. Another thing was the noise level of the place. Granted we all understood that this restaurant is popular and is very busy at the time we went, but it does seem like when built, no consideration was made in how noisy it would get. Adding sound insulation on the walls and ceiling would have mitigated the noise levels to some degree. The music was perfectly fine, but with the quantity of people and the echoing of sound of the building, it was very hard to even hear the waiter speak to us; let alone our own conversations.
The menu was very pleasing, but one thing I noticed was the menus themselves were not very clean. One still had food on it from a previous customer. And we understand that we got to keep our menus to order more beer and food, but all four menus for the table left as we dined was a bit unnecessary. Regular cleaning of the physical menus is always recommended. Also, the beer menu. We love the beers, but the problem was that we didn’t learn about the seasonal beers until afterwards. The whole beer menu has the year around beers listed in spotlight, but not the seasonal beers. The menu kept them on the side like subdued fine print, while the yearly beers got emblems, bold lettering, and descriptions.
Overall our dining experience was great. We do love the use of one table. We would definitely come back again.
The tables were too close together.
Flat beer. Out of 4 things we tried to order. Slow.
I had the fish tacos the fish was real dry
My wife had fish and chips and it was pretty good. In fact I ate the fish and chips she couldn’t finish and left my tacos
The noise level was over-the-top
I went to the location right when they opened and it was great . They brought in the heavy hitter ( already trained staff . )Last two time I’ve gone they informed me no pizzas being served during happy hour . They need to change there menu if they aren’t going to offer what it says is available .
