    We were disappointed they no longer offer the unlimited plates at brunch, but it ended up being a good thing as the food was average. I ordered a pancake and it had raw batter (they removed it from the check). Pimento cheese was good. Biscuits were gummy and the potatoes were gummy. 20% tip is automatically applied to the bill when they are "busy." We had it applied but I would not have described it as busy. Service was okay. I wanted coffee but the server never came back at a time for me to request it. Staff was a bit slow but was more attentive when I told them about the raw pancake. Overall, based on this visit, I would not return.

    Location was ideal & picturesque ... wait staff not so much & neither was the meal! Many items were not what was ordered (eg. salad no dressing came drenched and not as described on the menu). Also quite a few of the meal components were served cold (eg vegetables, risotto, coffee), rather than arriving hot to our table-sent back to the kitchen! Must say our fish catch was cooked extremely well-presentation very good & was quite delicious, although a bit over-priced compared to other restaurants in the area.

    Everything from the service and cuisine was above average. It was appropriate and met expectations for evening. No disappointment. We had the seafood tower, additional oysters, various seafood entrees and key lime for dessert. Sat by fire pits with after dinner drinks. A nice evening with family.

    While on a weekend away in Key West, we decided to stay closer to our hotel and wound up at Matt's Stock Island Kitchen & Bar. We were impressed by the attractive lobby and restaurant, which was quiet that night. We wound up seated outside with a view of the marina. Our waiter was attentive and informative. We had awesome cocktails (we recommend the Papa's Old Fashioned and the Keel Over which was so pretty), and the Yellowfin Tuna Tartare (nice presentation but we took the great advice of mixing it up to eat it). Yum! The mahi entree was also delicious. Highly recommend this off the beaten path restaurant.

    Rarely do I go to a restaurant and look at the menu and think that everything single thing looks delicious but this place was the exception. Every bite of every dish was spot on perfect. The ambiance was great, on the water, lovely lighting. Service was great. We will be back, probably even on this trip.

    Visiting Key West for a week earlier this month, we wanted a nice dinner close to our hotel on the east end of the island ("new town"), where the choices are limited because most of the restaurants are in the downtown area on the western end ("old town"). Numerous venue came up on a Yelp search, most of which we dismissed because they were either chain-type fastfood or had some negative factors. Matt's was down the list, possibly because it's on Stock Island, not the main Key West island. We decided to give it a chance. It's in the Perry Hotel & Marina. It was a good choice. Even though it was a Friday evening, the dining room was nearly empty. Whatever the reason, it wasn't food or service. My wife tried the "she crab" soup and said it was very good, while I had the tuna tartare appetizer--excellent. For entree I chose the yellow snapper & grits, and it was really good. My wife wanted something not on the menu, shrimp & grits. She described what she wanted to our server, who asked the chef whether he could do it, and he was game. It came and she pronounced it very good, thoroughly enjoying it. There was enough for her to take some leftover with us. I had some a couple of nights later at our hotel (our suite had a full kitchen), and she was right. I can recommend Matt's Stock Island Kitchen unreservedly. Prices are reasonable.

    What an amazing brunch on Stock Island. First timers and we enjoyed everything from the bottomless mimosas, Bellini and bloody Mary’s to our server Vito. Food options were great and tasted amazing.

    It was a great experience. Food was very good. We started with tuna tartare and beef carpaccio. It was on point. The filet my wife had was tender and cooked perfectly. The blackened mahi was done well. Nicely done with a succotash which included a sweet crab. Overall a nice place away that feels like the lower keys and less key west.

    We didn’t feel like going to the Duval street area so we decided to eat at the hotel. The food was excellent I must admit, sometimes hotel food isn’t that great. My mahi mahi was the best dish I ate all week. The gem salad was really good as well…..service was excellent.

    Great marina views, and a good breakfast menu. Of note, the avocado toast was light on avocado, and mostly street corn (for us). The servers were attentive, and flexible with request for a single (side) pancake.

    I was surprised the overall taste of food came out of Matt’s Stock Island Kitchen was that bad. My friend and I have dinner together every 3-4 weeks. We rotate who picks the venue, the other one pays the check. I chose Matt’s’s Stock Island Kitchen since neither one of us has experienced this well advertised restaurant and their signature seafood tower caught my eye on Open Table. We went, we had their culinary experience and won’t return. One and done. We started with the seafood tower for 2 was $85. 4 shrimp, 6 oysters and 2 small bowls of very raw yellowtail ceviche and small pieces of tuna. This is the “tower” The KW pinks were dusted with Creole seasoning straight outta Publix and landed all over my white shorts. I saved the oysters for last. I didn’t think it could get worse after the ceviche but it did. Fortunately the kitchen shorted us 6 oysters when I bit into first one it was so bad I couldn’t eat any more seafood and had the pork chop for dinner. It was served with some kind of corn soup disguised as risotto. I’ve never written a review in my life, I’ve been lucky to enjoy some fine dining around the world and know just living in Key West gives me no right to complain about anything ever. This is not a complaint. I’ve been asked my opinion and here it is. Go to Milagro if you want to fine dining experience. Go anywhere but skip this place tjey cater to tourist crowd that doesn’t know any better. In fairness, my dinner partner thought the oysters tasted sweet and he enjoyed his dolphin. The company was great, we had a nice bottle of 8 years in the Desert and didn’t let’s the overpriced bad food spoil the evening. We can dine anywhere in Key West in or out of season. If I can’t get us a table he can. We laughed on the way out the door and won’t return to Matt’s Stock Island Kitchen. It did in fact disappoint. Our experience was far from culinary. Anytime you read the words “State of the art and marina” in the same sentence be suspicious.

    Had a good (not awesome) brunch at Matt’s. Very good food, good service (our server had another big group that took a lot of time, and was a tad assumptive with us a few times), great Marina view at outdoor shaded table (though it was very hot - could use some fans). Somewhat expensive. Could use more menu choices (grits ????). I would give it a 4.3 out of 5.

    Probably the last time we will be going to Matt's for Sunday. We truly enjoyed the previous owners Sunday small plate lunch. Not so much the new owners idea of a brunch.

    I ate breakfast and brunch here and the food is VERY good. They have great keys inspired menu and the place has a good ambiance. I think it makes a great part of the hotel. For brunch our party of 9 tried everything. The kids raved about the waffle and pancakes and the smash burger and snapper sandwiches were SOOO good. With drinks, some alcoholic & some not, we left both days with a check around 260 with gratuity and I thought that was very reasonable.

    Outstanding! We have been there several times and Matt’s Stock Island Kitchen never fails to disappoint. Food was positively delicious! I am a foodie always seeking out the best places in Key West to eat. I like upscale, creative venues with escalated dinning features. This place hits the spot. Gem of a location tucked in a very scenic environment. Gem salad was superb, creative and I could have basically licked the plate. My Mahi Mahi may have been the best I ever tasted. Medley of sauces and fresh vegetables around a blackened piece of fish. Sublime. (I am not kidding and I basically am not a “fish” person not this was divine. I will go back again for this dish. Bread was warm with a beautifully flavored butter. Other hits at the table were the filet and the pork. Bennetts are simply the best like those that were served at the Cafe Marquesa! Thank you chef Graham! Key lime pie was also delicious!! Most enjoyable night with very attentive service. 5 stars for me!! *****

    Disappointed in the overall experience which is ashame because the food was good. Ordered the she crab soup (never came) yellowtail which was good, chicken (good) key lime pie and a chocolate mousse that tasted like chocolate pudding? Drinks had to be requested three times. Wine for $15 was about 4 ounces. Another server went back and returned with a bottle to make it right. Statements about short staff and new staff were made by a few employees. With better trained people, this would be a great place. Where's Matt?

    Our waitress was wasted. She asked us 3x where we were from, told us stories about her life and husband and kids each and every time, had our appetizers brought out twice (but consistently asked for our drinks), she told us she put the wrong entrees in but “luckily” she dropped them all when she went to pick them up and deliver. She didn’t put in our neighbor tables food at all, spilled his drink on him, and was just generally a hot mess. Smelled so strongly of vodka I thought she was a martini. The food however was fantastic. Definitely recommend the she crab soup, the snapper, and the filet. Just get it to go unless you want to feel like a cheerleader is bothering you at a frat house.

    Amazing place to grab a bite to eat/drink. Only negative was the outdoor seating closest to the bushes had some no see knats buzzing your legs. Other than that amazing. I will be returning.

    Great food and even better service. The restaurant is not in the middle of Key West action but very worth the quick drive. If your tired of “typical same ol’ same ol’ Key West” food then mix it up and go here. Ordered: SHE CRAB SOUP Blue Crab Sherry Fritter, (sooo good!!!)     We were EXTREMELY disappointed that the small plates and the menu for brunch has changed. We LOVED the traditional small plate brunch. We raved about it and took our neighbors - our burgers and chicken sandwiches were just ok. We won’t be back.
