Matthew's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
What a wonderful evening! It was a business meal but we all love to cook and appreciate good food and Matthew's delivered. The menu options were exciting and on trend and the preparation was beautiful and tasty. Thank you for a pleasant evening in Jacksonville.
My wife and I recently made our annual trip to Matthew's for our anniversary dinner. We were a little hesitant about doing "the same old thing" this year when so many other restaurants have opened in town. Luckily, we stuck with Matthew's and it paid off. We'll never consider anywhere else for our yearly special occasion.
The service is outstanding and the food was incredible. Our server actually recognized us from one of the prior years. As far as the food goes, we decided to try the Chef's Adventure which was a 6 or 7 course meal and were not disappointed.
We can't afford to go to Matthew's often, but for something like our anniversary we go all out. Thankfully, the folks at Matthew's make us feel as though we're getting our money's worth.
We had an amazing experience recently at Matthew’s for our wedding anniversary. Pavel, our server, was incredibly professional and helpful. The food was delicious! Matthew’s even surprised us with a dessert plate. We will be returning to try the tasting menu soon.
Matthew's food, as usual, never disappoints. The food was amazing. Service ... while good, was lacking the attention one would expect of a AAA Four Diamond restaurant. We were never offered bread--- odd as all around us were offered the bread selections. Waiter and attendant were average. Attendant, not so much. At $200 for two, I should not have to worry about empty wine & water glass. Though the wine for myself and guest was excellent. Those around us were celebrating either an anniversary or birthday---- we were just dining after three day weekend. Perhaps that is the key to get bread and attention?
My wife's dinner was poorly prepared and the waiter only wanted to tell her how wrong she was, which she was not, her fish was mush. Also, the waiter took our bottle of wine after pouring the first glass, but never came back to see if we required more. Had to get another waiter to bring our bottle to us so we could serve ourselves. Probably will not go back after that waiter experience.
My experience at dinner was awesome! Eat there on Tuesday evening and everything was excellent and the wine list was extensive. The Potato leek soup and Home aide bread was delicious and the short rib dinner was also amazing.
Too full for dessert but the menu looked tempting.
As always, service and food was impeccable. We've been to Matthews many times, but this was to celebrate my Mother-in-laws 70th birthday. They decorated her dessert plate with birthday wishes and the host came over to ask if she was enjoying herself on her special day, so she was very happy - which makes for a very happy daughter-in-law! Thank you!!
Having been to Matthews many times over the last several years and being very happy with all foods i have tried (and the service), this visit was disappointing. While my party was seated at our designated reservation time, it took a little over 20 minutes for anyone to come to our table. We had to ask for bread and water on several occasions. While the food was ok, the presentations were not what I have come to expect. I have often told friends that the food is so good it is like a 'party in your mouth' that you will never forget. There was no party this time. I sincerely hope that this was a fluke and that they were just having a bad night.
Matthew's was very well organized for New Years Eve. A great menu with items that were hard to choose between, but all selections delivered. Excellent service from David. Pavel's wine list was impressive, too. Unusual to see a Chateauneuf-du-Pont Blanc on a U.S. menu. Nice that the management invited us to watch the midnight fireworks from the lobby and served free champagne. Nice also that we were allowed a post-JAX concert seating at 11:00 pm.
