Food was top notch. From first course to dessert. Highly recommend.
Had an amazing experience through the Chef’s six course adventure. Wonderful service! Had the best birthday dinner there!
We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with dinner at Matthew's. We thoroughly enjoyed the Chef's Adventure Tasting Menu. Everything was excellent.
The tasting menu “chef’s experience” was one of the best tasting menus I have ever had and how lucky am I that it was on my birthday! Every course was exquisite. We also added the Waygu A5 appetizer course which you sear on a hot stone and it is phenomenal!!! We will be going back for many years to come and we will share our amazing experience with everyone!
We had a great time. Our server John was awesome and made the whole night.
Wonderful experience as always. We ordered the 6 course tasting menu tonight and was not disappointed. Ryan was our server and he was wonderfully friendly and attentive. Perfect evening.
Happy, bar was a little slow with service to dining area
It was my birthday . The setting was beautiful. It was a relax comfortable and the food was amazing . I would recommend to everyone.
Took my wife to Matthew’s for Valentine’s Day dinner. I would have to say that it was the most enjoyable dining experience that we have ever had. My wife and I thought that every course was phenomenal. The different pairings of things that I never would have thought of in a million years. Our server Ryan was top notch. His presentation of the menu was extraordinary. His skills were stellar. The entire rest of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Thank you all for a wonderful evening. I would give it 10 stars but were only given 5. We will definitely return very soon!
This place is amazing. Ignore the negative reviews about the dress code. When you make a reservation it clearly states that it is business casual dress code. Service was great, food was great, drinks were very strong and not watered down. We got there pretty much on time but our table wasn't ready. Not a big deal to us. They ended up giving us complimentary drinks, pretty much whatever you wanted. Very polite staff and were very attentive and informative. This will definitely be our spot for date nights. Valet is complementary as well. It is costly to dine there BUT it is well worth the money. It is not a place anyone can just walk in and get a table. All table must be reserved which I love. Food comes out so quick so there is very little waiting between courses. There is no sign outside the restaurant so you may pass it thinking its not the place. That would be my only gripe and that's not even really a big deal imo cause i just circled around and found it not even 60 seconds later. Me and my date loved this place and WILL be coming back soon.
My boyfriend and I had never been to such a high class restaurant like this before! It was our anniversary and we wanted to have dinner at a special place. We loved Matthew’s Restaurant. We tried the 6 course meal with wine paring. I can only say it was perfect! We will define be back. :)
Unfortunately we didn’t have a great experience (and we come her quite a bit). We did the chefs adventure tasting with wine pairing. The service was very off, especially for the amount of money spent. We waited over 30 min in between meals without any server checking on us, the server didn’t change our wine glasses in between white and red, he forgot we didn’t want port and truffle which both were mentioned at the start, wine glasses were empty for quite some time as well...we just expected a lot more. Normally this is a great experience. The food was okay but did not wow us. This time was a miss.
Repeat customer. Highly recommended! Valentine's dinner with family couldn't have been better! The service was outstanding and very accommodating, dinner was excellent as always! The Brussels sprouts, pork chops, risotto were superb, down to the last morsel!
Everything was perfect! From the moment we walked in the door. Our server David was wonderful and the food was amazing.
This will be our date night spot from now on.
Never missed a beat! Cocktails at the bar with an app beforehand are a must. Fried brussel side as an app was amazing. Scallops were delicious as my main entree.
Best service, best food. I’ve never had anything better from a restaurant. Absolutely divine.
Really like our waiter helped out a lot and was very informative. Food was really good.
Great food and service
Always a good time
We had a great night experiencing the tasting menu and the wine pairing.
As always the food was exceptional as well as the service.
One of the best restaurants in Jacksonville. The service, food ,and drinks 10/10
I haven’t dined here in a few years however the food is still exceptional. Some of my party of 5 had never been so it was a great reason to return. Thank goodness our server was extremely personable and efficient because the bartender was rude and the hostess ignored me upon my arrival. I guess one has to be a regular to be treated hospitably as I witnessed that around me during these initial interactions.
Food, atmosphere and service were spectacular..amazing restaurant and we just don't go often enough.. I think tonight will change that..
Matthew’s continues to set the bar for fine dining in Jacksonville. From the minute you enter the level of service, attention to detail and quality is second to none
An excellent meal from top to bottom. Appetizers were excellent. Salads were great and entrees were out of this world.
We frequent Matthew’s. We have yet to be disappointed. We had the pasta and the lamb both we terrific. The service was excellent.
New Years celebration!!
Matthews is always amazing! My favorite restaurant in Jacksonville.
Everything was great, except headlights shinning in through the windows into my face.
Never a bad meal at Matthew’s. They exceed expectations every time.
Ryan and the other waitstaff were so helpful and amazing. Food and drinks were brilliant.
It was an uncharacteristically off night for Matthews, perhaps owed to Christmas Eve in the time of COVID.
We arrived about 5 minutes before our reservation time and waited about 10 minutes for our table to be ready. Some confusion among the wait staff led to a long 15 minutes without attention after being seated, but once we alerted our hostess that we'd not seen our waiter, the situation was quickly rectified, our waiter appeared and service for the remainder of the evening was excellent. Appetizers were delicious, as was the wine by the glass (first a red to accompany my tartare and then a waiter-recommended Sancerre with my Black Cod). Entrees were prepared and plated beautifully, and my Black Cod was especially delicious. My wife's ribeye was perfectly cooked, though the cut was not especially good with more inedible fat and gristle than I'd expect in a restaurant-served steak. The soufflé' dessert was light and sweet; a fine finish to a hearty Christmas Eve meal.
All in all a solid though not extraordinary effort. In the future I would request an inside table rather than any against the front window as the cushions in the bench seats against the window are tired and one sinks too low for a comfortable dining position.
Wait staff is friendly, enthusiastic and—aside from the hiccup at the beginning—attentive without being intrusive.
There was no valet so it was self park, but there were plenty of street parking spaces without meters available. Lack of a valet could have been due to the night (Christmas Eve) or COVID, or both.
We will certainly visit Matthews again after COVID is behind us and we can more fully enjoy a fine dining experience. Matthews remains a great choice for a special occasion. The dining room is not loud so is well-suited to an intimate meal and good conversation.
Wonderful meal exceptional service. The team members went above and beyond this xmas eve. My husband & I experienced a hard time getting transportation back to our hotel, David who worked there was kind enough to take us back in his personal vehicle. Cannot be more thankful on this cold rainy Christmas Eve. 😊
Dinner meals for the three of us was exceptionally prepared and served.
I must say my wife and I was disappointed for the first time dinning at Matthew’s . Also this was the first time booking our wedding Anniversary on Opentable and the occasion setting was not to the level I have come to expect. Very mediocrely presented for my 31st anniversary.
Wow really let down.
Matthews is a restaurant Made for any special occasion to impress. It is truly high class dining with marvelous service. Our food and wine was absolutely delicious. The waiter was so knowledgeable about each item that I almost wanted to ask him about everything on the menu. My family ended up just getting a first course and an entrée, but next time we are doing the six course meal selected by the chef. Everything was made to appeal to each of the senses and every bite was followed by a “mmmmm”. I highly recommend the chocolate flourless tort, it tastes like heaven. On Mondays they have half off some select wines And the restaurant wasn’t too crowded. It truly was a magical evening that was made special by the staff and chefs.
Truly a wonderful evening.
