Great place to meet up and have a drink or two and amazing food.
Ver nice without being pretentious, Knowledgeable staff. Cozy. Great food.
The pasta bolognese is to die for. I want to try everything on the menu!
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time! Food and service was impeccable!
Staff is super pleasant and food was phenomenal; we did the dining adventure with wine pairing and were so impressed, it all tasted wonderful. Also there was a solid variety in ingredients and technique between dishes so we really felt like we got to experience a lot from one meal. Also, small but crucial side note, the lemon tarragon focaccia is unlike any focaccia I’ve ever had in my life. So incredible.
Beau was an excellent server and wine sommelier. Food was outstanding!
It was the best food we’ve ever had, and we travel a lot! Incredible food and service! Will definitely be back! Thank you Chef Taylor and Bo!!!
NYE was a blast! Always excellent food and service!
Service was amazing and our meal started off with a pleasant ambiance. A large party arrived and the noise level increased beyond an enjoyable level. We could not hear each other so our evening was not as enjoyable as it should have been for a fine dining experience.
New Year’s Eve Menu offered 4 choices for each course. This evenings dinner was over the top fabulous in flavors and presentations. Favorites were ahi tuna tartare, fois gras, duck breast, and a densely decadent chocolate dessert. Our server Eve was on point during the entire service. We are so thankful Matthews is are go to restaurant for fine gourmet dining.
I’ve been to Mathew’s many times, have always ordered from their menu and have been very happy with the experiences. This occasion was different in a few ways, it was the first time I’d had a special menu here (4-5 course for NYE), and was the first time I’d been disappointed. Our reservations were early, for 5:00. We were the second group to arrive and had to wait in the bar for the kitchen to get ready. Other groups arrived and waited. When the kitchen was finally ready groups were taken to their tables. Even though we arrived before 7 or 8 other groups, we were the last to be seated. We were seated 17 minutes after our reservation, and no one even apologized for the wait. It was a bad start. Our server arrived and was a bright spot in the experience, he was personable and professional. The food was well presented, was made of high quality ingredients, but most dishes generally lacked flavor. I will say the vegetable compose and the gnocchi were excellent.
Wonderful experience. Without a doubt, Jacksonville’s best restaurant.
One of the best restaurants in the country. We have not been in Jacksonville for a few years and we were happy to find that Matthew's still is knocking it out of the park. I only with it was not in Jacksonville, patrons with flip flops and baseball hats do not pay the respect the food deserves.
David was excellent as always and the food was delicious.
Wonderful food and wine. Romantic atmosphere and the cocktails are delicious.
I made a reservation for a party of four for 5:15pm for the Chef's tasting menu. Got there a little early (5pm), we waited for about 10 minutes while hostess check to "make sure the kitchen is ready". The dinning room was a little smokey when we got seated. After being seated, we were waited on right away, given time to look over the menu.... mind you, we made a reservation for the Chef's tasting menu. Our waiter seem to know that was what out reservation was for..... no an issues because it seems that you don't need a reservation for it. We got drinks/water right away and was served fresh baked bread. My favorite was the Focaccia (it was the best I ever had). I will start off by saying the food was great! but here's the issues.... we were the first table to be seated for dinner... I figure with a the Chef's tasting, it would be take about an hour and half or maybe even two hours for us to finish our dinner. It took 3hrs...... not because there was a lot of food but because it took so long between courses. The longest was between the cheese course (5th) and dessert course (6th), it was 45 minutes. The waiter only came by to get our plates from the 5th course and refill out water.... The bread waiter (yes, seems like his job was to serve bread to the tables) didn't came by to ask if we would like anymore bread since our wait for so long. Each course was like only two bites because it was a tasting menu...... we started to get hungry again after waiting so long for the dessert course. The food was good, the service from the waiter was good, the timing between the courses was awful....I can understand waiting 5-10 minutes between courses but waiting 20 to 45 minutes was too much. $95 a person...... only to be hungry when we got home.... not worth it. Would I recommend Matthew's?? It's hard to say. The food was good but I wouldn't do another Chef's tasting menu....
The service was terrible. It took 45 minutes to get a piece of bread. The waiter was unwilling to work with us and very rude and difficult. I would not recommend going to Matthew’s after that experience.
Always first-class service and food preparation. Thank you for helping make my wife’s birthday celebration a success!
Matthew's is a great place to celebrate! Took my family there to celebrate a college graduation. Excellent food, very good service, and the deserts - I had the bread pudding - were delectable. Highly recommend Matthew's to anyone wishing to make a lasting memory for someone special.
First time eating here. Superior food an experience in every way. Expensive but worth it!
The Chief’s Tasting Experience was a great way to explore 6 courses. The broth and sauces for the dishes were the most flavorful and amazing. We were pleased with the tasting portions as we were satisfied, but not uncomfortably full. The quality of the fish, scallops and beef were top notch. We also had excellent cocktails with the Beautifully Peared really standing out as crisp and very refreshing. All the servers and the chiefs were friendly and could tell that they truly enjoy when customers appreciate their food and experience. Our first experience and we will be back.
Chef's menu is well worth the experience.
Matthew’s is my absolute favorite restaurant. I can’t say I’ve ever been disappointed and if I ever did have an issue the staff always takes care of it right away. Last night I had the diver scallops and they were cooked to perfection. My husband and daughter in law both had the pasta which is always a favorite. My son got the tenderloin and ask to substitute the Brussels sprouts instead of the carrots and green beans, which they did no questions asked. He loved it and said it should be offered that way because the sprouts did so much more for the meal than he thought carrots and green beans would. The soufflé was a chocolate that had a bit of a hot kick to it. My husband wasn’t a fan but the rest of the table loved it. As always a great meal with great service.
Everything about our experience was out of this world!!! Food was some of the best artisanal preparation I have had in a long time and our server Ryan was totally engaging and professional Truly a 5-star experience worth every dollar
We had the most excellent experience. We had the tasting menu which was fabulous and service remarkable!
Truly exceptional 6 course wine paired experience. ‘Bow’ was exceptional from sharing his knowledge to his service. A credit to the establishment!
We hadn’t been to Matthew’s for a few years due to a bad experience the last time. I’m glad we went back - the food was outstanding and John/Bow our server was exceptional. We will be back.
Consistently amazing food and service. One of the best restaurants in Jacksonville. Would highly recommend for foodies, date night, special occasion, or business meetings.
Outstanding food and service. Very accommodating to our vegetarian requirements. We are consistently pleased every time we dine here.
The tasting menu was excellent and well prepared. The service by David was amazing as well. Great experience!
The food at Matthew’s is very good. I didn’t care for the upsale pitch at the beginning of the tasting menu. Maybe mention you have some options of … but it went a bit longer than it should have. Service could have been more attentive. They were overwhelmed…hanging around chatting. We’ve had better experiences there. Good variety of dishes.
What a wonderful dinner we had on Saturday night. The staff was amazing - there when needed but not over powering or pretentious . It was a very low key elegant evening. Everything we ordered was spot on and delicious. I love the intimate scale of the restaurant - very warm and friendly.
Our server, “Bow,” was amazing. He expertly guided through our experience. His recommendation for the caviar was spot on. He created an atmosphere to remember! We will absolutely be back!
Matthew’s never disappoints! The service was fantastic and our meal was incredible. Matthew’s is always our destination for celebrating life’s milestones.
The food and service we received at Matthew’s was phenomenal. All the food and drinks were amazing and plated so beautifully, we will definitely be back next time we are celebrating.
Nice place, good food - will go back for small business dinners
Excellent service. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The food was amazing. Highly recommend you try the Wagyu beef. It's a fun experience and delicious.
Ryan our server was professional, knowledgeable and friendly.
He gave great explanations of wine pairings and was attentive during dinner.
6 course meal as always delicious and expert
Only negative experience- the bartender was rude and dismissive.
Great food with good variety. Five star service including wait staff and hostess.
Great food, very relaxing, wonderful dining experience. Been here before, will continue to patronize.
